ISI competitions are recreational competitions for all skaters of any age and any level. This packet includes important competition information and entry forms. The deadline for entries is March 12, 2017. I am looking to forward to seeing all of you skating in this competition. Events are offered to all ages Tots through Adults. RULES: This competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules and guidelines in the 2014 ISI Handbook. AGE GROUPS: The number of entries in each event will determine the age groups. Age will be determined as of March 26, 2017. REFUNDS: No refunds will be granted after the close of entries unless submitted with a valid physician s note and accepted by the Competition Director. VERIFICATION: Entry forms must be complete and accurate. Incomplete and/or inaccurate forms will be returned to the coach. Supplying false information will result in disqualification from the competition. There will be a $10 fee for any changes made to the original entry form. RINK SIZE: Ice surface is the NHL rink which is 200 x 85 with rounded corners. 3

Competition Information Continued REGISTRATION: All skaters must check in at the registration table at least 1 hour prior to their scheduled event. If the competition is running ahead of schedule, an event may begin earlier than its scheduled time. However, no event will start early unless all skaters are present. MUSIC: Music must be clearly labeled with the skater s name, age, event and coach. Music will only be accepted on CD+/- and no rewritable CD s will be accepted. The music must be turned in at time of registration. Please make sure only one program is recorded on the CD. Skaters and/or coaches should have a back-up program CD. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: A preliminary schedule of events and Judge s sign up sheet will be posted on the Ice Station Valencia website at www.icestation.net and will be e- mailed to those who have supplied their e-mail address on the competition entry form. In addition a copy of the schedule will be available at the front desk. The final schedule will be posted on the web shortly thereafter. AWARDS: All skaters will win a trophy or medal. Awards will be presented upon the posting of each individual event. Any competitors who are not present during the awards presentation are welcome to pick up their medals the following week in the Skating Academy office at Ice Station Valencia. ACCOUNTING REVIEW: Only ISI Professional Members (instructors) can make accounting review requests to the Competition Director. Judges scores are always considered final. A review is simply a verification of the scores. There will be a $25 fee charged for all accounting review requests. The fee will only be returned if an accounting error is discovered. JUDGING: In fairness to our competitors, all ISI Professional Members with skaters in the competition are expected to do their part in judging an appropriate number of events. Only coaches who have signed up to judge will be permitted into the Competitor s Staging Area. There will be a hospitality room open to all coaches and judges. VENDOR INFORMATION: A professional photographer will be available during the competition for action shots and to photograph the awards presentation. A professional videographer will be available to record the competition for purchase. 4

Description of Events TOTS ARTISTIC SPOTLIGHT (Character, Dramatic, Lt. Ent.) PRE-ALPHA INTERPRETIVE SPOTLIGHT COUPLES ALPHA FOOTWORK FAMILY SPOTLIGHT BETA FUN EVENTS PRODUCTION GAMMA SPECIAL SKATER ENSEMBLE DELTA SOLO COMPULSORY STROKING (Alpha - Delta) FREESTYLE OPEN FREESTYLE 2-PERSON JUMP & SPIN TEAMS RHYTHMIC SKATING SYNCHRO SKATING / FORMATION ARTISTIC 1-10: Artistic skating is open to all Freestyle 1 level skaters and higher. The program length is 1 ½ minutes for Artistic 1-5 and 2 minutes for Artistic 6-10. There are no required elements and there is no grade for technical merit. Emphasis is on creativity and the design of the program. Props are NOT permitted. COUPLES SPOTLIGHT: An entertaining spotlight program performed by two skaters using costumes and props. Level Maneuver Limitations Duration Low Tots thru Delta Freestyle 1 and below 1:00 min. Bronze Freestyle 1-3/Open Bronze Freestyle 4 and below 1:30 min. Silver Freestyle 4-5/Open Silver Freestyle 6 and below 1:30 min Gold Freestyle 6-7/Open Gold Freestyle 8 and below 2 :00 min. Platinum Freestyle 8-10/Platinum Any maneuvers 2:00 min. ENSEMBLE: This event is open to groups of 3-7 skaters of all levels and ages. Skaters will be judged on the performance value of the program. There are no required maneuvers and there is no technical score for this event. The group should use music, costumes & props to enhance the theme while creating an entertaining performance. Props are not allowed on warm-up. The program length is 3 minutes. FAMILY SPOTLIGHT: This event is open to 2 or more family members only. Skaters may be of any age and level. Program length is 1½ minutes, and the routines may be fun, entertaining, emotional or portrayals of characters using costumes and/or props. FOOTWORK 1-10: Freestyle skaters perform a 1 minute program to music using various turns and connecting steps with limited jumps or spins. Skaters are judged on correct turns & edges as well as flow, variety of moves and choreography. FREESTYLE 1-10: Programs are 1 ½ minutes in length for Freestyle 1-3; 2 minutes for Freestyle 4-5; 2 ½ minutes for Freestyle 6; 3 minutes for Freestyle 7; 3 ½ minutes for Freestyle 8 and 4 minutes for Freestyle 9-10. Additional maneuvers from higher test levels or uncaptured moves from higher levels are not permitted in Freestyle events. For the safety of all skaters, backward spirals or arabesques will not be permitted during warm ups. OPEN FREESTYLE: Programs are 2:00 minutes in length for Open Bronze, Open Silver, and Gold Short; 3 minutes for Open Gold and Platinum Short; & 4 1/2 minutes for Open Platinum. For the safety of all skaters, backward spirals will not be permitted during warm ups. 5

Description of Events (Continued) PRE-ALPHA THROUGH DELTA: Programs are 1 minute in length and must include all of the required compulsory maneuvers from the test and one additional maneuver from Freestyle 1. Moves from lower levels and uncaptured moves for Pre-Alpha through Delta levels are permitted. PRODUCTION: This event is for an entire skating team, regardless of skating skill level and age, performed to music. Production routines are creative and use costumes and props to illustrate the number. Any and all types of maneuvers are permitted. All participants must wear ice skates. The program length is 4 ½ minutes and there is no penalty for skating under the prescribed time. Please use the Team Entry form. SPECIAL SKATER: The ISI Special Skater category is open to skaters of all ages with physical or mental challenges. Skaters must compete at the highest test level passed and registered with ISI National Headquarters. Skaters are to perform a program to music for 1 minute, including all the required compulsory maneuvers from the test level and any moves from lower test levels. Skaters may be grouped together by age, gender and disability. SOLO SPOTLIGHT EVENTS: Open to skaters of all levels. There are no required maneuvers for spotlight events and there is no grade for technical merit. Skaters may be assisted putting their props on and taking their props off the ice. Props may not be left in the lobby area and must be removed immediately after the event. Ice Station is not responsible for props left in the facility. See below: Level Maneuver Limitations Duration Tots thru Delta Freestyle 1 and below 1:00 min. Freestyle 1-3 / Bronze Freestyle 4 and below 1.30 min. Freestyle 4-5 / Silver Freestyle 6 and below 1.30 min Freestyle 6-7/ Gold Freestyle 8 and below 2:00 min. Freestyle 8-10/Platinum Any maneuvers 2:00 min. STROKING: Skaters compete together in groups wearing colored numbers for easy identification by the Judges. Skaters will perform only forward stroking in both directions and are judged on posture and correct stroking technique. Crossovers are optional at the end of the rink, but not required and not judged. This is the very basic skill of skating. TOTS 1-4: Tots must be 5 years of age or younger as of March 26, 2017. Programs are 1 minute in length and must include the required test maneuvers from their level. Extra content is not allowed, will not be judged and therefore, not penalized. Tot competitors are allowed to perform 2-foot or 1-foot snowplow stops. 6

Description of Events Continued SOLO COMPULSORY: The following are the chosen maneuvers for the Solo Compulsory event. Maneuvers may be performed in any order in a miniprogram without music. Extra maneuvers such as jumps, spins or gliding maneuvers from a test level or any uncaptured moves, are not allowed. Full ice will be used for all levels. 2 PERSON JUMP & SPIN TEAMS: A team consists of 2 skaters from the same category level, but they do not have to be the same test level. Skaters may skate above, but they cannot skate below their test level category. One team of two skaters enters the ice together and stops. The first skater begins and performs the same jump two times. After the second attempt, the first skater stops. The second skater then performs the spin two times. After the second attempt, the second skater stops. Both skaters then bow and exit the ice together. Category Level Low = Tots Delta Bronze = FS 1-3 Silver = FS 4-5 Gold = FS 6-7 Platinum = FS8-10 LEVEL JUMP SPIN Low 2-ft Jump or Bunny Hop 2-ft Spin Bronze ½ Flip or Toe Loop 2-ft or 1-ft Spin Silver 1/2 Loop or Axel Sit Spin or Back Spin Gold Double Salchow Layback or Double Loop or Flying Camel Platinum Double Loop Flying Sit or or Double Lutz Flying Camel- Jump Spin No music is required. Low, Medium, Intermediate and High will be performed on full ice. Maneuvers are judged for technical accuracy not the difficulty of the maneuver chosen. 8

FUN EVENTS NO LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF FUN EVENTS ENTERED MORE EVENTS = MORE FUN!!! Fun Event 1: Bunny Hops Skaters will perform three ( 3 ) bunny hops in a row two times. The best sequence will be judged. ***** Fun Event 2: Lunges Skaters will perform two lunges, one going the length of the rink in one direction and a second lunge in the opposite direction. The lunge may be done on either foot. Lunges will be judged on form and duration. ***** Fun Event 3: Spirals Skaters will perform two spirals. The first must be a regular spiral on either foot. The second spiral must be a Chinese Spiral on either foot. Spirals may be straight or curved and will be judged on form and duration. ***** Fun Event 4: Shoot the Duck Skaters will perform a shoot the duck starting at one end of the ice surface. Timing will begin when the skater attains the shoot the duck position on one foot. Hands may be placed on the knee or free leg. The skater may come up on two feet. Timing STOPS if the free foot touches the ice or a fall occurs. Fun Event 5: Hydroplane (New!!!)-Skaters will perform a hydroplane. This is a timed event; timing will begin when the skater attains the hydroplane position. Hands may either touch the ice or not. The skater may come up on two feet. Timing STOPS if the free foot touches the ice or a fall occurs. Fun Event 6: The Weir Move (New!!!)-Skaters will perform the Weir Move. This is a timed event; timing will begin when the skater attains the Weir position. Timing STOPS if a fall occurs. 9
