IDENTIFICATION OF THE SUBSTANCE / PREPARATION AND THE COMPANY * Product name: KNOTTING * Supplier: LIBERON Mountfield Ind Est New Romney Kent, TN28 8XU Tel: 0044 (0)1797 367555 Fax: 0044 (0)1797 367575 * Emergency phone number (to be used by the practising doctor): UK - National Poisons Information Service Phone: 44 / 191 22 5131 2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS * Preparation name: KNOTTING * Component(s) contributing to the health hazard: DENATURED ETHANOL CAS NR: 64-17-5 EC NR: 603-002-00-5 Weight % : >50 3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION * Most important hazards: Highly Flammable. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES * General advice: In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. * Inhalation: Remove patient t fresh air, keep the patient warm and at rest. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration. Give nothing by mouth. If unconcious place in the recovery position and seek medical advice * Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Immediately wash affected skin with plenty of soap and water or a proprietry skin cleaner. Do NOT use solvents or thinners 1

* Eye contact: Immediately irrigate with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove soft contact lenses. Seek medical attention. * Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse out mouth with water. Seek medical attention 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES * Suitable extinguishing media: Alochol resitstant foam, CO 2 powder, water spray/mist. * Specific fire hazard(s): Fire will produce dense black smoke containing hazardous combustion products (See heading 10). Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health. * Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Use a self-contained breathing apparatus and also a protective suit. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES * Personal precaution(s): Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate area. Exclude non-essential persoannel. Avoid breathing vapours. Refer to protective measures listed in Sections 7 & 8. * Environmental precaution(s): Do not allow to enter into drains or watercourses. Clean preferably with a detergent ; avoid the use of solvents.if the product enters drains or sewers the local water authority should be contacted immediately. In the case of contamination of streams rivers or lakes the National Rivers Authority. * Method(s) for cleaning up: Contain and collect spillages with non-combustible absorbent materials eg.g sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth and place in a suitable conatiner for disposal in accordance with the waste regultaions (See section 13). 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE * Handling Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors. They may form explosive mixtures with air. Prevent the creation of flammable or explosive concentrations of vapour in air and avoid vapour concentrations higher than the occuptational exposure limits. Additionally, the product should only be used in areas from which all naked lights and soucres of ignition have been excluded. Electrical equipment should be protected to the approproate standard. Keep the container tightly closed. Exclude sources of heat, sparks and open flame. Non sparking tools should be used Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid inhalation of vapour (and spray mist) Smoking and drinking should be prohibited in areas of storage and use For Personal Protection see Section 8 Never use pressure to empty; the container is not a pressure vessel 2

Always keep in conatiners made of the same material as the supply conatiner. Good housekeeping standards and regular safe removal of waste materials will minimise the risk of spontaneius combustion and other fire hazards. The product may be electrostatically charged. Use earthing leads when transferring from one conatiner to another. Operators should wear anti-static footwear and clothing and floors should be electrically conductive. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations may apply to the handling of conatiners/packages of this product. Refer to the guide weight indicated on the conatiner when carrying out assessments. * Storage Store in accordance with the conditions of the licence which is necessary under the Petroleum (Consilidation) Act. Further guidance is conatined in the HSE guidance note Storage of Flammable Liquids in Conatiners. Observe the label precautions. Store between 5 o C and 25 o C in a dry and well ventialted place away from sources of heat, ignition and direct sunlight. No smoking. Prevent unauthorised access. Conatiners which are opened should be properly sealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Store separately from oxidising agents and strongly alkaline and strongly acidic materials. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION * Chemical Name: DENATURED ETHANOL * National occupational exposure limits: 1000ppm 1920 mg/m3 8h TWA (LTEL) * Engineering measures to reduce exposure: Provide adequate ventilation. Where reasonably practicable this should be by the use of local exhaust ventilation and good general extraction. If these are not sufficient to maintain concetrations of particulates and/or solvent vapours below the relevent occupational exposure limits suitable respiratory proective equipment should be worn (see Persoanl Proection below) * Personal protection equipment: All personal protective equipment including respiratory protective equipment used to control exposure to hazardous substances must be selected to meet the requirements of the COSHH regulation. * Respiratory protection: If exposure to hazardous substances identified above cannot be controlled by the provision of local exhaust ventilation and good general extraction, suitable respiratory protective equipment should be worn(organic Vapour cartridge) * Hand protection: When skin exposure may occur (wear impervious gloves) advice should be sought from glove suppliers on appropriate types. * Skin and body protection: Barrier creams may help to protect exposed areas of skin but are not substitues for full physical protection. They should not be applied once exposure has occurred. 3

* Eye protection: Eye protection designed to protect against liquid splashes should be worn. * Other: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. 9. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION * General Information There is no data available on the product itself. Periodical medical test is recommended to check for any effects from repeated exposure. * Acute toxicity Exposure to organic solvent may result in adverse health effects such as irritation of the mucous membrane and the respiratory system and adverse renal and central nervous systems. Symptoms include health, dizziness, fatigue, muscular weakness, drowsiness and in extreme cases loss of conciousness. * - Skin contact: Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may lead to removal of natural fats, resulting in non-allergic contact dermatitis, and absorption through the skin. * - Eyes contact: Splashes in the eyes may cause irritation and reversible local damage. 4

* - Ingestion: May cause internal irritation if ingested in quantity. Symptoms may include sore throat, abdominal pain, drowsiness, nausea, vomitting and diarrhoea. Other symptoms similar to over exposure to vapours. 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION * General information(s): There is no data available on the product itself.
