Friend General: Foreman Mr A. Bruggeman was fined $200 for having an empty syringe in his motor vehicle (AR178A). In assessing penalty stewards accepted it was not used for treating horses. RACE 1: Maiden Handicap 1000m: Almas A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Chicoutimi Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Bumped at the entrance to the straight. Apprentice Ms S. Sweeney dropped her whip passing the 200m. Invincible Tammy Slow to begin. Lubyouforever Rounding the first turn was eased after laying out onto the heels of Steph s Belle which laid in at that point. Mr Stapleford Trainer Mr B. Hull was fined $100 for the late declaration of M. Palmer as the rider of the gelding (LR35). Began awkwardly. Secret Assignment Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Violet Jane Slow to begin. Woodditton - Bumped at the entrance to the straight. RACE 2: Maiden Plate 1400m: Bravo Uncle Billy Laid out under pressure between the 200m and 100m.
2 Caro Cavallo Eased from heels near the 1100m. Shifted out and bumped another runner passing the 400m. Carried inwards at the entrance to the straight. Eungai Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Unable to be tested over the final 150m when held up on heels. Famed Bumped passing the 400m. Four Dreams Raced greenly in the early stages. Sapper Tom Unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Seven Rubies Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Trainer Mr S. Randall advised the mare had its tongue behind the bit on return to scale and he would add a tongue tie to its official race gear. Solitary March Slow to begin. Swift Accord Approaching the 100m was eased when tightened between runners. Trust Issues Slow to begin (3L). Vertex Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Passing the 400m was steadied after improving onto heels. Yeah the Boys Began awkwardly. Overraced approaching the first turn and throughout the middle stages. RACE 3: Class 3 Handicap 1900m: Gypsy Wild Began awkwardly. Overraced and hung out rounding the first turn. Inclined to overrace down the back straight. Latino Lover Carried wider rounding the first turn. When questioned racing forward today apprentice C. Gallagher stated he was instructed to have his mount begin well, settle where comfortable and work into the event to ensure it was a true staying test. C. Gallagher stated that his mount did begin well and he rode it along early to settle in a midfield position. C. Gallagher stated that when the pace of the event slackened passing the 1200m he allowed his mount to work into a forward position so as ensure it could work into its sprint from the 800m rather than be forced to adopt sit and sprint tactics to which it is not suited. Poly Oreos (NZ) Slow to begin.
3 Presscott (NZ) When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey M. McGuren stated that his mount settled in a midfield position with cover in an effort to have it run out the 1900m journey. M. McGuren stated the leaders commenced to improve from the 800m and he placed his mount under pressure in an effort to go with them. M. McGuren stated his mount made minor ground on the leaders however peaked on its run at the entrance to the straight and weakened noticeably over the final 200m. M. McGuren stated that he does not believe his mount is a genuine stayer and it is best suited obtaining cheap sectionals in the early and middle stages to allow it to sustain its short finishing sprint. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor recovery rate. Trainer Mrs T. Wilkes will be interviewed regarding the geldings performance at a date to be fixed. Wraith of Odin Overraced rounding the first turn and continued throughout the middle stages. RACE 4: 3YO Maiden Plate 1250m Look Out Boy Raced wide in the early stages. Lucksbury Overraced in the middle stages. Militia Slow to begin. Steadied after improving onto heels near the 500m. Ocean Nymph (NZ) Eased when hampered shortly after the start. Near the 900m was eased when awkwardly placed on heels. Unable to improve between the 500m and 400m when held up on heels. Eased after improving onto heels near the 400m. Passing the 150m was eased when momentarily tightened for room. Risaldar Steadied when tightened between runners shortly after the start. Whitworth Overraced approaching and rounding the first turn. RACE 5: Class 1 Handicap 1250m Against the Clock Approaching the 100m was eased when disappointed for a run. Unable to be tested, when awkwardly placed on heels, for the remainder of the event. Dexter Dutton Steadied after improving onto heels at the entrance to the straight. Unable to be fully tested between the 150m and 50m when held up on heels. Flim Flan Man Began awkwardly. Found My Hula When questioned regarding the performance of the mare jockey R. Fradd stated that from a wide barrier his mount was obliged to race three wide without cover throughout the event. R. Fradd added that after a tough run in the early and middle stages his mount was unable to make any significant ground on the leaders
4 down the straight. A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. P artie Town Inclined to overrace approaching and rounding the first turn and throughout middle stages. Princely Sum Began awkwardly. Saga Del Mar - Inclined to overrace approaching and rounding the first turn. Tempa Mental Slow to begin. Shortly after straightening became held up on heels and was unable to be tested for the remainder of the event. RACE 6: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1000m: Barney Rubble Eased when tightened for room rounding the first turn. Trainer Mr D. Smith advised that the gelding would be retired from his stable. Dress Sense Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. Eased when tightened for room rounding the first turn. Dutch Gal Bumped shortly after the start. Haven Angel Bumped on jumping Magic Street Slow to begin and bumped shortly after. Myboycellito Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Queen of Kingston Fractious in the enclosure during the parade. Trainer Mr D. Bowen was advised that a warning would be placed on the pre race manners of the mare. Bumped on jumping. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare jockey L. Cassidy stated that the mare was first up today and was in an agitated state prior to the event. L. Cassidy stated that his mount began only fairly and he was obliged to settle in a position at the rear of the field to obtain cover. L. Cassidy stated his mount responded fairly to pressure approaching the home turn however felt to peak on its run at the 150m and weakened to the line. L. Cassidy added that in his opinion that the track is favouring on pace runners today. When questioned, trainer Mr D. Bowen stated the mare is somewhat field shy and in his opinion is best ridden outside other runners in ample racing room. Mr Bowen added he is of the opinion the mare races best when able to settle in a prominent position and he would step it up in distance next start in the hope it can. A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Skanda Trainer Mrs L. Herne was fined $100 for the late declaration of B. Looker as the rider of the gelding (LR35).
5 RACE 7: Benchmark 65 Handicap 1600m: Caldera Girl Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Dream Habit Hampered near the 1400m. High Degree Hung out approaching the 400m. Apprentice Ms S. Sweeney will be interviewed regarding her whip use prior to the 100m at a date to be fixed. Honour n strength A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Humility Raced wide in the middle stages. Kincaple Chief (NZ) Approaching the 400m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shortly after straightening. Like a Ruler Overraced between the 1200m and 1000m. Inclined to lay in at the entrance to the straight. McGill (NZ) Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Eased when momentarily tightened for room rounding the home turn. My Cousin Jackie A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr S. Phelps advised that the mare would be spelled. Silento Inclined to overrace rounding the first turn. Solar Lady Shortly after straightening became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shifting out around heels passing the 200m. Summary of whip use: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii).
