Sit back and enjoy a presentation about your CroisiBike vacation. DAY 2 : MELK - DURNSTEIN After getting acquainted with your bike, you ll set out on your first trip to visit the Melk Abbey. The bike path winds through the Wachau Valley, a region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dotted with charming villages and medieval castle ruins. After taking in the magnificent views of the valley, you ll continue your journey along the river until reaching DÜrnstein, the final destination for the day. A picnic lunch will be prepared in advance of your trip, and we ll also enjoy a tasting of the local wines. After our tour, we ll return to our ship and cruise towards Bratislava. Bike itinerary : 11 mi./17.7 km. in the morning (499 ft./152 m. elevation gain) - 18 mi./29 km. in the afternoon (801 ft./244 m. elevation gain) DAY 3 : BRATISLAVA Today s bike trip will bring you to the Freedom Cycling Bridge and an outside view of the Schloss Hof, Prince Eugene of Savoy s Baroque-style country estate. We ll continue to the cliffs of the Sandberg expanse and then on to Devin Castle. Depicted on Slovak money and postage stamps, it has a commanding view of the confluence of the two significant rivers that form part of the country s borders : the Danube and the Morava. Once finished, we ll return to the ship and cruise to Kalocsa, Hungary. Enjoy an evening of entertainment. Join us for an excursion to the Puszta. Also known as the Great Plains, this vast, flat prairie was the wild west of Hungary in the 19th century. We ll dive into the heart of folklore and traditions while watching a horse show. We ll spend the afternoon cruising to Budapest, arriving during the night. DAY 5 : BUDAPEST Today, you ll set out on a bike tour of the Hungarian capital to explore one of the richest cities in Europe. Considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Budapest is a surprising mix of historical ruins and modern living. Castle Hill provides an exceptional view of the city and river. Our tour will finish up on beautiful Margaret Island. Once reserved as an aristocratic resort, it is now a vast urban public garden. You ll have free time in the afternoon. Then join us for an optional visit to the famous Gellert Baths. At the end of our tour, you ll have some time to swim and enjoy the spa. Feel free to partake in an optional evening of traditional entertainment in Budapest. We ll spend the night cruising to Esztergom. Bike itinerary : 11 mi./17.7 km in the morning (400 ft./122 m. elevation gain) DAY 6 : BUDAPEST - ESZTERGOM Leaving from Esztergom, today s bike tour will bring us along the bike path that crosses the region and offers magnificent views of the bucolic countryside. On our way, we ll catch a glimpse of the Château Béla, built in 1732. Once a residence for the Krockow family, it is now a luxurious 5-star hotel. We ll return to the ship, and spend the afternoon cruising to Vienna. Tonight is our festive gala evening. Our ship will cruise through the night. Bike itinerary : 24 mi./33.8 km in the morning (699 ft./213 m. elevation gain) 7ème JOUR : VIENNA We ll start the day with a bike trip to the Klosterneuburg Monastery, founded in 1114 by Saint Leopold III of Babenberg, the patron saint of Austria. In an eventful history spanning nine centuries, Klosterneuburg Monastery has developed into a religious, scientific, cultural and economic center. After our visit, we ll return to the ship. This afternoon, we ll get back on our bikes for a guided tour of Vienna, a renowned bike-friendly city. Following our tour, we ll return to the ship. Bike itinerary : 11 mi./17.7 km in the morning (299 ft./91 m. elevation gain) This evening, join on an optional excursion for both packages : concert of Viennese music (subject to availability.) PRACTICAL INFORMATION CROISIBIKE Practical Information + Types of bikes : Unisex hybrid bikes that can be used by both men and women (flat handlebars), similar or equivalent to the Alpenchallenge AC01 with Shimano 105 or Ultegra derailleurs. - High-quality Shimano 105 or Ultegra derailleurs make climbing hills easier - Disc brakes for better stopping ability and avoiding skidding during rain - A maximum 10 kg (22 lbs.) bike weight for optimal comfort The bikes used currently are BMC Alpenchallenge AC01 Deore XT/SLX. Our partner will be upgrading their fleet in 2017. Extra-padded seats for women. Pouch for accessories (camera, windbreaker, etc.). Please do not carry large items with you. Each bike is equipped with a GPS programmed with the day s itinerary so that everyone can bike at their own pace. Passengers can bring their own cleated cycling shoes, but you must also bring your own pedals so that they can be attached to our bikes. + Where we bike : On paved roads or bike paths. We will not go on mountain bike routes. + Biking while the ship cruises One or more minivans with guide(s) will follow the group of cyclists. Bikes will be stored in the minivan and picked up each day by passengers. For the slightest problem, the driver of the minivan will either repair the bike or replace it. Here is a FAQ list for several recurring questions : Can I stop cycling during the day s tour, and if so, how do I get back to the ship? o Yes. Vans will be provided with an extra seat for each passenger if needed. o The return to the ship will be done at the first opportune moment ; the passengers on the bike tour will remain our immediate priority. Can we request an e-bike? o Yes. Please ask for our rates. What happens if I get a flat tire? o Our guides will repair it! Some travel agencies think that tours over 31 miles per day (50 km) are too much for the average client. o That s why the shortest option each day will not be over 22 miles (35 km), except for one specific day on the Rhine. o If needed, our vans will be available for passengers who would like to stop. o Don t forget that elevation gain is a very important aspect of biking : 31 miles (50 km) along the flat Danube route is very different than even 6 miles (10 km) up to Mont-Sainte-Odile. o Our goal is to offer as many options as possible so that different level passengers can participate in the same tours. o Even beginner cyclists will enjoy our tours because the shortest itinerary will never be longer than 22 miles (35 km). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COORDINATION We will provide technical and maintenance assistance throughout the entire cruise. Our bike guides will ensure that your bike tours take place under the best conditions. You will have detailed maps and overviews every day, and we will be available to go over any points or questions onboard about each trip. THE CROISICYCLO CONCEPT During your CroisiCyclo vacation, the ship cruises while you bike. No need to pack up your belongings every day, since you ll return to your cabins every evening. If you want to skip a day s tour, no problem! Take a break on the ship and enjoy the view of the riverbanks from the sun deck. EFFORT LEVEL Easy. No special training needed. Minor elevation gains. FORMALITIES Valid national identity card or passport required. Non-EU nationals are advised to consult their embassy or consulate. For navigational safety reasons, the company and the captain are the only authorized persons who can modify the cruise itinerary. The program is guaranteed only for a minimum of 8 passengers.
