KHS GIRLS TRACK TEAM in today s IHSAA SECTIONAL Bring home the title!

The Lady Kats exploded for 21 hits and rolled to a 16-0 win over Clinton Central in five innings last night. Lauryn Hicks led the charge at the plate going 4-for-5 with three doubles. Savannah Emmons was 4-for-4, and Taylor Simmons added three hits including a home run and a double. Ellie Trine had a triple and a pair of singles, Katelyn Dowden recorded a triple and a single, Courtland Cottle went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Sarah Stonebraker contributed a pair of hits. Lauryn got the win in the pitcher's circle throwing all five innings and striking out nine. She lost her no-hitter with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Lauryn Hicks Tossed a one-hitter and helped her own cause with four hits at the plate in Kokomo s 16-0 win. The Lady Kats move to 17-5 and will host Cass on Wednesday. Coach Susong

The Kats dropped a tough game to Westfield on the road last night, falling 3-2. Kokomo had trouble executing in some key spots and it proved costly. Easton Dupay got the loss in relief, giving up one run in his inning of work. Dupay came in relief of starter Nate Hemmerich, who went the first four innings and gave up two runs. Offensively Colt Munsey drove in two with an RBI single. Payton McClain had a pair of hits with a run scored, and Kyle Wade added a double. The Kats go on the road Thursday to take on #1 ranked Huntington North at Huntington University. For the second consecutive season, the Kokomo boys golf team finished in eighth place in the NCC Golf Tournament held at Pebble Brook Golf Club in Westfield on Monday. Harrison once again emerged as the conference champion, edging Muncie Central s squad by a single stroke at 312 to 313 to claim the title. Junior Jake Miller of Richmond was the medalist on Pebble Brook s north course with an impressive even par round of 70 on a warm, dry, and windy day. The Wildkats score on Monday was 375. Leading Kokomo was freshman Jackson Richards, who shot 90. Junior Deuce Bailey was next with a 91, and senior Anthony Barnard was another stroke back at 92. Completing the scoring on Monday for the Wildkats was junior Clayton Brown with a 102. Both Bailey and Barnard recorded season best 18-hole scores on Monday, and the Wildkats team score was also a season best in tournament play. GIRLS TRACK May 20, 2003 Kokomo easily took the IHSAA Sectional crown at Madison-Grant with a 40-point margin over second place Maconaquah. Lashonda Davis, a senior, was a quadruple winner for the Lady Kats. She won the 100- meter (:12.7), the 200 (:26.7), and the long jump (17 3 ¾ ) while anchoring the 400 relay team which included junior Sade Cox, junior Maggie Scheiman, and senior Sami Bledsoe. Stefanie Schmetzke had a record setting performance as the junior set a new KHS standard in winning the 3200-meter run in a time of 12:05.3. Schmetzke was also fourth in the 1600- meter run. Junior Lisa Barrett was named All-NCC by virtue of her claiming the top spot in the high jump at 5 3. Scheiman added a second place finish in the 100-hurdles (16.1) and a third in the 300- hurdles (46.8).

N.C.C. Student-Athletes of the Week KHS BASEBALL TEAM The 2018 Kokomo baseball team won the North Central Conference championship Saturday with wins over Harrison (11-1) and McCutcheon (6-4). It was Kokomo s 13 th NCC baseball title and their first since 2010. The Wildkats also won NCC baseball crowns in 1966, 1976, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.
