Temporary Works and CSCS update event Wednesday 24th September 2014 Normanton Golf Club, Hatfeild Hall, Aberford Road, Stanley, Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF3 4JP EVERY WEEK ONE OF US DIES Help for the industry from the industry
Temporary Works and CSCS update event This is a free event run by the industry for the industry as part of the UK-wide Working Well Together (WWT) campaign. The aim is not only to raise awareness of key health and safety issues facing the construction industry specific to your trade, but also to give practical advice on how to avoid risks on construction sites. In particular during the temporary works phase. If you have a building, construction or contracting company, or if you are selfemployed then this free event is a must. Temporary Works It is very important that the same care and attention is given to the design and construction of temporary works (TW) as is given to the design and construction of permanent works. As TW may be in place for only a short while there is a tendency to assume they are less important. This is incorrect. Lack of care with design, selection, assembly, etc leaves TW liable to fail or collapse. This places people at risk of injury and can cause the project to be delayed. This presentation by Mark Hatfield (HSE Construction Specialist Inspector) will help you if your construction project contains any temporary works. Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications. Most contractors and construction clients insist that workers on their sites hold the appropriate CSCS card for the work they undertake. There have been a lot of changes recently regarding CSCS cards. This presentation by Gordon Jenkins (Director of Operations - CSCS) will cover those changes. It will cover new Green Cards, Health & Safety Level 1 Training, Provisional Cards and Smart Cards. There is no charge for the event so BOOK NOW as places are limited.
