Greetings & Welcomee oom ohe 44oh Annuall ASAM Suaeeer Specolcuallr Welcome to the 44th editon of the ASAM Summer Spectacular Horse Show, at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds in Skowhegan, Maine! The ASAM Board of Directors is pleased to announce that for a third year in a row, our manager will be Jerome Parker, from Southwick, MA. Mr. Parker comes to the show with a broad background of horse show experience throughout the country. The Summer Spectacular ofers a full slate of Saddlebred Classes, as well as a wide variety of open pleasure classes, equitaton classes for all ages and seats, plus divisions for Friesians, Pleasure and Harness Ponies, Morgans, Arabians/Half-Arabians. The Spectacular is also home to the fnal leg of ASAM's Premier Challenge for our Western Horse, English Horse, Miniature Horse and Junior Exhibitors. Our Academy Division will be ofering two exceptonal rider classes again this year. The 2018 Editon of the Spectacular is once again running with last years, Thursday through Saturday evening format. Once again, each day will feature two sessions, and not to miss hospitality events on Thursday and Friday evenings. Saturday evening we've lef open, for you to gather with friends, both old and new. If you haven't traveled to Skowhegan before, we hope that you choose to join us this year. The Spectacular is a great show to get that new horse or even more importantly, that new rider, into the show ring. You'll fnd much support from your new Maine family for both horse and rider, as well as a comfortable and safe environment for that frst mult day show experience....and if your schedule allows, we also invite you to come to the show grounds a day early to enjoy some Maine fun of your own. White water rafing on the Kennebec is the most popular actvity, but there is plenty more, including hiking and fshing,. Details for rafing adventures can be found in the Exhibitor's Actvites secton. Rules and Regulations Exhibitors are requested to read these rules and not enter any horse or pony unless they are prepared to abide by the rules of NEHC, MHA, affiliated Associations and this Show. ENTRY INFORMATION ENTRY FEES: $20.00 Regular Classes $25.00 Championships & Special Classes $25.00 Office Fee (includes MHA $4 & NEHC $2 ENTRIES CLOSE Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Post (Late) Entries will be accepted after Tuesday, July 3, 2018 for an additional Late Fee of $25.00 per horse or pony entered. Regular Fees and associated rules apply thereafter. Entries must be made in writing, signed by the owner or authorized agent, and the trainer; and must be accompanied by funds to cover all charges. If the owner or exhibitor is under 18 years of age, the entry blank must be signed by an adult who assumes all responsibilities and risks stated on the entry blank. Owners, riders, drivers, handlers and trainers of American Saddlebreds MUST include their ASHA Membership Number for credit toward World's Championship qualification and ASHA High Point Awards. Exhibitors are solely responsible for completing the entry blank and add slips accurately as recorded with their breed and point organizations. The Management and Staff take no responsibility for exhibitors errors. Once entered, class additions and/or scratches will be accepted ONLY until the close of the preceding session. The Management and Staff of ASAM respectfully request your cooperation and compliance with this rule. ALL FEES must be paid in full (or a signed blank check left to cover expenses) prior to issuing a number. Any entries incurring bank fees will be charged $50 plus cost of the bank fee and the original bill. REFUNDS: There will be no refunds on entry fees unless due to a bona fide injury of horse (rider in equitation). Refunds will be made only upon receipt of a veterinarian s certificate (doctor s certificate) and must be received by the Show Manager or Secretary before the end of the Show to be considered. There will be no refunds on stalls or campers. The Show Management reserves the right to decline any entry and to return fees before the opening of the show and, to prohibit or remove any person or horse from the show without being held liable for compensation. CREDENTIALS Registration Papers are required for entries in classes restricted to a registered breed. Please include registration number(s) on your entry blank and include a copy of the papers with your entry form. Proof of Negative Coggins within the last three years is required for horses stabled in the State of Maine and within the last six months is required for out of state horses. Please include Coggins date (month/year) on your entry blank. Vaccinations. Please include a copy of vaccination records for your horse(s) (EEE, WEE, West Nile, etc.) with your entries. It is strongly recommended that all animals on the show grounds be vaccinated for RABIES within one year from this show. Adult Riders in classes restricted to Amateurs must have a valid amateur card from USEF, NEHC or MHA available for inspection. Amateur cards may be applied for at the Show. STABLING & CAMPING FEES: $125.00 per Stall or Tack Stall (Horses staying overnight MUST be in box stalls.) $25.00 per horse per day Truck-In Fee: (no stabling) $95.00 per Camper $50.00 per Tent (regardless of amenities used) NO INITIAL BEDDING WILL BE PROVIDED for stalls. Stall doors are not to be removed and exhibitors are responsible for the condition of their stalls. In the Stabling Area absolutely no air conditioners or refrigerators are to be used. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN THE BARNS!! For horses needing to arrive early or depart late, please make arrangements through the show secretary, Regan Grant, in advance of the show. Camping spaces near the coliseum are reserved for Show Officials & Staff ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE ARRIVAL: Horses may arrive after 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 DEPARTURE: Horses must leave by 12 Noon on Sunday, July 15, 2018 DIRECTIONS; From I-95, take Exit 133 and turn right onto Rte 201 North. Travel approximately 15 miles to Skowhegan. In Skowhegan, follow 201 North (Right) across the bridge into town. Stay in the left lane around the buildings. Turn right at the stop light still on Route 201 North. The Fairgrounds is on the left at the 3rd set of lights. PRIZE MONEY ~ RIBBONS ~ TROPHIES Prize money will be awarded in the ring by a premium voucher. Prize Money distribution: $75 class -$25, $20, $15, $10, $5, first through fifth respectively; Once the voucher has been awarded, responsibility of the Horse Show will cease. Vouchers may be deducted from show fees or redeemed at the Secretary s Office only after the exhibitor s final class. All vouchers must be redeemed by the end of the Show and will be invalid after the Show Office closes on Saturday, July 14, 2018 Six ribbons will be awarded in all classes; eight in UPHA Challenge Cups. Trophies/monies as indicated. OTHER INFORMATION HOLDS will not be permitted unless due to extenuating circumstances and must be cleared by the Manager via a hold form at the secretary s booth. While the show is in progress only authorized personnel will be permitted in the ring and must be properly attired. No torn clothing or barn/stable affiliation attire. The Show Committee and/or Management reserves the right to split any classes it deems necessary. It also reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet a preset minimum number to qualify for further finals competition later in the season. Exhibitors may speak with the judge after they have completed showing and only after having received permission from the show manager. Stallions are barred in classes restricted to Ladies and Junior Exhibitors, unless specifically allowed in that breed s regulations. In the Morgan Divisions, Championships will not be stripped. DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEASH OR TIED AT ALL TIMES. Dogs will not be allowed against the rail of the show ring. Nuisance dogs or dogs with excessive barking may be asked to leave. Please clean up after your dog. All motorized transports must be operated by licensed drivers and kept away from horse traffic areas. No strollers will be permitted in the chute or near the In and Out Gates There will be no lunging or long lining in the arena. All lunging and long lining must be done outside of the ring. Fire and emergency lanes must be kept open at all times. Horse Trailers and vehicle parking will be limited to designated areas ASAM, MHA, NEHC, UPHA and ASHA membership forms will be available in the Show Office Junior Exhibitor Hunter Seat riders are required to wear ASTM/SEI approved, properly fitted headgear with harness fastened in ALL classes except junior exhibitors in Morgan Hunter Pleasure.

Come join us in the Barn 2 ASAM Party Pavilion for pizza and cold drinks! Take a break from setting up and COME HUNGRY! Early Bird Coffee and Donuts ASAM will be providing coffee(all day long), as well as juice, donuts, muffins, fruit and more each morning(while it lasts)! Come and power up for the day in the ASAM Party Pavilion! Thursday Night Free Exhibitor Party!! Everyone loved our party and games so much last year we are bringing it back again this year! Join us at the FREE ASAM exhibitor party! Please bring your appetites as Denim Ridge Farm will be cooking dinner!! We will have our racehorse auction again! We auction off six racehorses that you can bid individually, with a stable or with friends! Each owner needs to decorate and take care of their horse. We'll run a regular race right after the auction so you can see how the betting and the racing works. Friday night there will be more races! Free food and drinks with some fun games and door prizes! Join us immediately after the last class Thursday evening in the Party Pavilion(barn #2) for this fun event! Special thanks to Denim Ridge Farm for once again sponsoring this incredible event! FRIDAY NIGHT ASAM DOWNS HORSE RACES We will have the Jockey's Race and an Owner's Race. The winning jockey will receive a special prize! The winner of the Owner's Race gets half the pot! We will also award a prize for Best Decorated Horse! At the end of the weekend, please return your horses to the show office so that they can get a bath and be groomed for next year! Saturday Evening...after the conclusion of the show What's the rush?? Stay for the night, visit with new and old friends, make a party out of packing up, or better yet, save it until the morning! Either way, a morning departure is a great way to avoid the tourist traffic that heads out of Maine later in the day. White Water Rafting Would you love to try a great Maine adventure??
