Capitol Area Quarter Horse Association 2018 Ranch Horse Show Rules Purpose: To recognize achievements of Members of the Association. Overview Specific rules and details for each Division are listed below this overview by Division. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to read and understand the rules. We welcome your questions! CAQHA will award Daily High Point and Reserve High Point Awards at each show in the following Divisions: 1. Youth 13 & Under 2. Youth 14-18 3. Amateur 19 & Over 4. Walk/Jog Exhibitors of All Ages 5. Never-Won-A-Buckle Exhibitors of All Ages 6. Junior Horse Exhibitors of All Ages 7. Senior Horse Exhibitors of All Ages - Exhibitor must be a member of CAQHA to be eligible for Daily High Point Awards. - All Divisions are one exhibitor/one horse divisions. - Exhibitor must show in Conformation and in a minimum requirement of other classes offered in each division to be eligible for Daily Awards. Detailed list of classes below / per division. - Conformation classes will be by division. Youth may not show stallions. Divisions Youth 13 and Under and Youth 14-18: Age of exhibitor is as of January 1, 2018. These classes contain lope and extended lope gaits. You must show in Conformation and in 5 out of the 6 riding classes offered in the 13 and Under Division and the 14 18 Division to be eligible for Daily High Point awards. These classes are: Ranch Reining, Ranch Riding (AQHA pattern), Stock Horse Pleasure (SHOT pattern), Stock Horse Trail, Stock Horse Horsemanship, & Series Awards - 13 and Under and 14-18: One High Point Series Award will be given for the exhibitor/horse in each of these age divisions with the highest number of points over the three show series. Rules for Reserve High Point are the same, with the second highest overall number of points. You must show in Conformation and in 5 out of the 6 classes offered in the 13 & Under Division or 14 18 Division at two out of the three shows. These classes are: Ranch Reining, Ranch Horsemanship and Stock Horse Showmanship 19 & Over Amateur: Age of exhibitor is as of January 1, 2018. 19 and Over Amateur classes contain lope and extended lope gaits. You must show in Conformation and in 4 out of the 5 other classes offered in the Walk / Jog Division to be eligible for Daily High Point awards. Series Awards Walk Jog All Ages: One High Point Series Award will be given for the exhibitor/horse in this division with the highest number of points over the three show series. Rules for Reserve High Point are the same, with the second highest overall number You must show in Conformation and in 4 out of the other 5 classes offered in the Walk / Jog All Ages Division at two out of the three shows. These classes are: W/J Ranch Riding (Modified AQHA pattern), W/J Stock Horse Pleasure (modified SHOT pattern), W/J Stock Horse Trail, W/J Stock Horse Horsemanship, and W/J Never-Won-A-Buckle Open to Exhibitors of All Ages: Definition applies to the Rider - 1) rider must not have won ANY kind of buckle in ANY riding class and/or event (from speed to rodeo, hunt seat, over fences, walk/jog, etc. includes ALL disciplines) in showing career prior to start of Series. If you have a question about eligibility in this division, please ask! Never-Won-A-Buckle (NWAB) classes contain Lope and Extended Lope. If you qualify as a NWAB rider and begin showing in the Series as a NWAB Rider, you may stay in the NWAB Division for the Series. Please use the honor system when determining rider status. You must show in Conformation and in 5 out of the 6 other classes offered in the NWAB Horsemanship and Series Awards Never-Won-A-Buckle: One High Point Series Award will be given for the exhibitor/horse in this Division with the highest number of points over the three show series. Rules for Reserve High Point are the same, with the second highest overall number You must show in Conformation and in 5 out of the other 6 classes offered in the NWAB Division at both shows. These classes are: Ranch Reining, Ranch Riding (AQHA pattern), Stock Horse Pleasure (SHOT pattern), Stock Horse Trail, Stock Horse Horsemanship and Stock Horse Showmanship. CAQHA member. Horses of all breeds (including unregistered horses) are eligible for the 2017 Junior Horse Open to Exhibitors of All Ages: Any horse 5 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2018. (Note: All horses become one year older on January 1st of each year, regardless of their actual foaling date. If you have any questions about this age rule, please ask us.) Junior Horse Daily High Point Awards and Series Awards will be a One Horse/One Exhibitor award. Points earned by Junior Horses ridden by multiple exhibitors are not eligible for Daily or Series Awards. You must show in Conformation and in 5 out of the 6 other classes offered in the Junior Horse

Horses of all breeds (including unregistered horses) are eligible for the 2017 Additional High Point Rules: CAQHA Board Members and Officers are eligible for all High Point Awards; however, no Board Member or Officer exhibiting a horse for points or awards will be involved on the Show Committee in a formal decision making capacity as it relates to the hiring of judges or selecting patterns. Payment for membership must be received by CAQHA BEFORE the first class is shown, no exceptions. You may join at the show prior to your first class. There are no minimum point requirements. AQHA class procedures apply to all applicable classes. High Point. High Point ties broken by (1) greatest number of classes entered, (b) most first places,
(c) flip of a coin. Show Series Awards will be presented to the winners at the CAQHA Awards Ceremony. Injured or Ill Horse Competing for Series Awards: If exhibitor is competing in any division and their horse becomes injured or ill and may no longer compete in the show season, the exhibitor may compete with another horse, but points earned on the first horse will not carry over to the new horse. Daily High Point / Reserve High Point: Horse / exhibitor team may win only one Daily High Point or Daily Reserve High Point per show. If an exhibitor wins a Daily High Point in more than one division, they will receive one High Point Award (division of their choice) and may receive Daily Reserve High Point Award in other division. Exhibitor must be a CAQHA member prior to start of show. Series Awards: Exhibitor may win more than one Series High Point or Reserve High Point Award. All Series Awards may be won in consecutive years. The only exception is the Never Won A Buckle Division. If exhibitor wins a buckle (Series High Point or Reserve High Point) in this division in the show year, they are no longer eligible to compete in that division the following year. Show Rules: 1. AQHA Class procedures apply to all applicable classes. 2. No refunds for scratches unless made IN OFFICE prior to the start of class. 3. Must be a current member of CAQHA to be eligible for awards. All horses must show proof of current negative Coggins (current being within 12 months or less, from date of show). 4. Exhibitor may show multiple horses in one division, however, exhibitor may win only one Daily High Point Award and one Daily Reserve High Point Award. 5. Exhibitor may show one horse in multiple divisions, however exhibitor may win only one Daily High Point Award and one Daily Reserve High Point Award. 6. High Point and Reserve High Point Daily and Series awards are one exhibitor/one horse. Substitutions allowed but points will not be transferred. 7. The 9 point system below is used to calculate Daily and Series awards.
