Dakar Press Conference Etienne Lavigne (ASO), Helene Zaugg (Motul), Yann Le Moenner (ASO) DPPI DAKAR RALLY PARTNERSHIP MOTUL BECOMES MAJOR PARTNER OF THE DAKAR! 9000 kilometres to be crossed in 13 days on the harshest of terrains and in the most gruelling weather conditions... And also 4.6 million spectators, 1,200 hours of TV coverage across 190 countries and hundreds of bike, car, quad and truck contenders from all over the world. The Dakar, celebrating its 40th staging in 2018, is truly the toughest and most famous of off-road rallies and on 22 March Motul was appointed its official lubricant partner at a press conference. This agreement completes the many technical partnerships uniting Motul with major teams. At the beginning of 2017, the win in T2 (production 4WDs) was bagged by Toyota Auto Body and in SSV by Polaris Xtremeplus. The finest achievement on Motul's leaderboard was the Honda bike win in 1989. Still with Motul's technical support, the Japanese manufacturer clinched half of the stages this January. Details of Motul's partnership with the ASO, the Dakar's organiser, will be disclosed in a few months. We know however that there will be talk of developing close ties with fans of the event and with the contenders. Hélène Zaugg, Motul's Head of Communication, commented on this extraordinary partnership: 'Motul has been involved for decades in the most extreme forms of motorsports, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy,The Roof of Africa and the Carrera Panamericana. The Dakar Rally has naturally found its place in such a prestigious list.'
Evgeny Bobryshev Team HRC MXGP Honda CRF450RW FIM MXGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP NEUQUEN PATAGONIA RACE 03/19 MOTUL IN THE LEAD OF THE MXGP AND MX2 CHAMPIONSHIPS! STANDINGS Tim Gajser (Honda), 106 pts Antonio Cairoli (KTM), 96 pts Clément Desalle (Kawasaki), 91 pts Evgeny Bobryshev (Honda) 82 pts 01 02 03 05 Two weeks after the painful experience of the Indonesian mudbath, the contenders of the World Motocross championships found more propitious conditions on 18 and 19 March in Patagonia. The two factory teams partnered technically by Motul dazzled everyone. Tim Gajser gave the win to Honda and takes the lead of MXGP, while Suzuki World MXGP is the leader of the MX2 standings thanks to Jeremy Seewer's new Top 3. Defending world champion, Tim Gajser, scored the maximum number of points possible after winning the two races of the Patagonia Argentina Grand Prix. 'It was a perfect weekend, the public was tremendous and their fervour was palpable at the end of the race.' Team HRC secured a magnificent overall result with the 3rd place of Evgeny Bobryshev, even though he had just got over food poisoning. 'I couldn't train after Indonesia because I was confined to my bed! On Saturday, my stomach was still causing me pain and, quite frankly, I didn't expect to mount the podium.' The trip to South America gave Suzuki World MXGP a rough time. Neither of the team's two riders contending in the top category managed to enter the Grand Prix' final Top 10. On the other hand, Jeremy Seewer left Patagonia with the red plate of leader of the MX2 championship, a first for the Swiss rider!
FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MOTUL SEASON PREVIEW READY FOR THE BIG FIGHT The official test sessions are now over, so it's all systems go for racing genuine, pure racing that sends a shudder down your spine! The Moto- GP will be launched on 26 March in Qatar for the 23 machines of the 2017 field at the cutting edge of technology. Three teams partnered technically by Motul are contending at the highest level of motorcycling speed: the factory Suzuki team, Monster Yamaha Tech3 and Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. They will benefit from experimental lubricants developed by Motul's experts in cooperation with each manufacturer's engine specialists. The list of MotoGP contenders has greatly changed since 2016. The teams wearing Motul's colours have entirely renewed their contingent of riders. Interestingly, they will have the monopoly of the four rookies contending! At Suzuki, Alex Rins has joined the elite alongside Andrea Ianonne, winner of the last Austrian GP. Aprilia has also recruited a newcomer in the person of Sam Lowes who will be riding alongside Suzuki's ex-rider, Aleix Espargaro. Tech3's two rookies, Jonas Folger and double Moto 2 World champion, Johann Zarco, finished the Qatari tests in the Top 10. Motul's involvement goes beyond such technical support. The red and while logo brand will indeed again be title sponsor of four Grand Prix, beginning with Argentina on 9 April. Last, the Motul Superfan concept will be continued. Motul and Dorna, the championship's promoter, will select a superfan at every event and the winner via social media channels and he/she will have the opportunity to experience a dream weekend, meeting directly with teams and riders!
SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP Subaru Tecnica International Subaru WRX STI SIGHTS SET ON THE NORDSCHLEIFE Motul and team Subaru Tecnica International have renewed their technical partnership for a new participation in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The aim is to add a win in SP3T (1750 to 2000 cc turbo touring cars) to the leaderboard of STI, motorsport subsidiary of Japanese manufacturer Subaru. The 45th staging of the classic German race will take place on 27 and 28 May. It will be STI's tenth appearance on the 25,378 metres of the German race track for the world's most unpredictable 24 hour race. The team already has four class wins to its name, most recently in 2015/2016 and we still have in mind Carlo Van Dam's life-saving reflex whereby he narrowly avoided a devastating crash when torrential hail suddenly fell on the track! The Dutch rider will be back with his three 2016 team-mates, namely Marcel Lasse, Tim Schrick and Yamauchi Hideki. The 2017 version of the Subaru WRX STI was determined on 7 March on Fuji Speedway. This 'shaken down' car fitted with a paddle shift gear system will benefit from Motul's products including 300 V engine oil and specialist brake fluids. In this respect, this partnership strengthens the collaboration between Motul and Subaru Europe which began in 2011. The technical experts from Motul and Subaru together developed a co-branded oil, 5W30, to offer optimum performance and reliability to Subaru riders.
BTCC TESTS DONINGTON PARK Tom Ingram Speedworks Toyota Avensis SPEEDWORKS TOPS TESTS The 2017 season has a certain continuity about it for team Speedworks with a Toyota Avensis contending in British Touring Car Championship for Tom Ingram, and Motul providing its technical support for this programme. Results-wise, Speedworks has passed an important milestone in 2016, with a first BTCC win for the team, its rider... and for Motul! All in all, Tom Ingram mounted the podium six times, including twice on the first step. He also established the best time on the single pre-season official tests day, 16 March, at Donington. The Toyota #80 remained at the top of the timing screens for most of the session. Nobody could draw closer than a tenth of a second to his best time of 1 09' 995. The seventh BTCC season for the structure based in Cheshire has thus got off to a dream start. 'Pure performance wasn't our goal during this test,' commented team principal Christian Tick. 'We wanted above all to continue discovering the new Dunlop tyres and our Avensis, which got a serious facelift this winter. We scrupulously respected the scheduled plan while remaining the fastest from start to finish. Last year, in the same circumstances, we had something to prove. Today, the pressure is different and we have set our sights higher. We want to race for the title in the independent teams category and why not in the overall standings?'
