He is in his 23rd season as a collegiate head coach with a career record of 418-203, winning 67.3% of the games he has coached in. Harris reached the 400-victory mark of his career in a 98-59 victory against Kalamazoo on November 16, 2007. He is in his 17th season as the head coach at Wheaton with a record of 291-142 for a 67.2% winning percentage at the school. Under Harris leadership Wheaton has recorded 15 winning seasons. He is the second-winningest coach in Wheaton s 100-plus years of collegiate basketball. Harris 67.1% winning percentage at Wheaton is the highest of any coach in the school s history that served more than two years and his teams have made four appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. WHEATON VERSUS THE FIELD: Wheaton has a 3-3 record this year against the three other teams in the CCIW Tournament. Wheaton swept the season series with Elmhurst, split the season series with Augustana and lost two close games to Illinois Wesleyan. Augustana has won 10-straight at home against Wheaton. Additionally, the Thunder lost 85-82 against Elmhurst in the Carver Center in the 2007 CCIW Tournament Semifi nals. GETTING DEFENSIVE: Wheaton is holding opponents to an average of just 62.6 points per game this year. That mark has the Thunder ranked 24th in Division III in scoring defense. Wheaton has held opponents to 60 points or less in 10 games this season, including fi ve times in conference play. The Thunder had a leaguebest 63.5 point per game scoring defense average against league foes this year. RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME: Wheaton comes to Rock Island as winners in five of its last six games. In the six-game stretch, Wheaton has a scoring margin of +8.5 points per game, as the Thunder have averaged 67.5 points per game and held opponents to 59 points per game. Wheaton has shot 51.7% (154-298) from the fi eld in its last six games, opponents have shot 42.9% (134-305). Kent Raymond has averaged 24.2 points per game, with a 46.7% (49-105) fi eld goal percentage and 90% (36-40) at the free throw line in the last six games. In the same span, Andy Wiele has averaged 16 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, with a sensational 60.9% (39-64) fi eld goal percentage. February 29 & March 1, 2008 WIELE EARNS ALL-CCIW HONORS: On Tuesday, junior Andy Wiele was recognized as a Second Team All-CCIW selection this season. The Thunder center has averaged 15.0 points and 10.2 rebounds per game with a team-best 57.3% (157-274) fi eld goal percentage this year. After a sophomore season that saw him average eight points and 6.1 rebounds per game, the six-foot-eight-inch Wiele worked hard in the offseason to improve his game and add strength and muscle. In league contests this season, Wiele averaged 14.6 points per game, with a 55.9% (85-152) field goal percentage and 9.9 rebounds per game. Twice a CCIW Player of the Week honoree, Wiele fi n- ished the conference regular season ranked second in the league in rebounding and fourth in the CCIW in fi eld goal percentage. The Thunder guard has averaged 13.4 points per game this year, with a 45.8% (120-262) field goal percentage and a team-best 46.7% (49-105) three-point fi eld goal percentage. Panner has tallied 2.7 assists per game this year with a 75.4% (46-61) free throw percentage. Last year, in his debut with the Thunder, Panner averaged 9.1 points per game with a 36.4% (24-66) three-point fi eld goal percentage. The sharp-shooting guard scored 13.7 points per game in league contests this year, with a 44.7% (68-152) fi eld goal percentage. He had a league-best 50% (34-68) three-point fi eld goal percentage against CCIW foes this year. EVERYBODY S ALL-AMERICAN: Junior Kent Raymond leads Wheaton with an average 23.0 points per game and also is the team-leader in assists (4.0 apg) and steals (1.4 spg). He is currently among the national leaders in scoring, ranked 13th in Division III. Raymond made an impact in his one other appearance in the CCIW Men s Basketball Tournament. He scored 39 points against Elmhurst in the semifinals of the 2007 CCIW Tournament to set a new tournament single-game scoring record. Raymond was 11-17 from the fi eld, with two three-pointers and a 15-for-17 effort at the free throw line in the 85-82 semifi nal loss to the Bluejays. During last Saturday s 78-69 win against Elmhurst, Raymond moved into 11th place on Wheaton s all-time scoring list with 1,504 career points. He passed fi ve Wheaton all-time greats during the game: Luke Moo (1997-01); Clyde Glass (1976-80); Steve Clum (1970-74); Don Anderson (1955-59) and Rob Hamann (1995-99). In addition to his placement on the career scoring list, his 20.3 points per game career scoring average is the second-highest of any player in school history. He is tied for fifth on Wheaton s all-time free throws list with 400 and his 162 career three-pointers is tied for the seventh-highest total in the program s history. On Monday he was recognized as the CCIW Player of the Week for the second time this season, and the seventh time in his stellar career. Raymond averaged 31 points per game, with fi ve rebounds and three steals per game last week. He shot 50% (20-40) from the field, with 46.2% (6-13) from three-point range. On Tuesday, he earned his second consecutive CCIW Fred Young Most Outstanding Player Award. He becomes the fi rst player since 1999-2000 to win the award in consecutive years and becomes one of only six people to win the award (given since 1968) multiple times. Additionally, Raymond was a unanimous First Teamm All-CCIW selection as he earned the third All-Conference accolade of his tremendous career. Also on Tuesday, Raymond was named as a Second Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American selection. He holds a 3.68 grade point average at Wheaton and will graduate in May with a degree in Communications. Through the years Wheaton has produced 42 Academic All-Americans through the prestigious program. Raymond becomes the fourth player from the Wheaton men s basketball program to earn the honor, joining Nate Frank (1994-95); Jon Nielson (2004-05) and Michael Fiddler (2006-07). The fourth recognition of the week came on Tuesday afternoon when he was recognized as a fi nalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy. The Jostens Trophy honors the most outstanding Division III basketball players of the year, considering basketball ability, academic prowess and community service. Raymond s selection marks the fourth time that a Wheaton player has been tabbed as a fi nalist. Joel Kolmodin was a Jostens Trophy fi nalist in 2003 and 2004 and Jon Nielson was a fi nalist for the award in 2005.
