PRINCE GEORGE S COUNTY 4-H TALENT SHOW September 9, 2017 The Prince George s County 4-H Talent Show will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 during the county 4-H fair. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. and individual judging will start at 2:30 p.m. The Talent Show will be held for the active 4-H members of Prince George s County. The Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. 4-Hers may enter individual or group talents. Participants must pre-register for this event using 4-H Online system. Deadline: Friday, August 25, 2017 GENERAL CONTEST RULES: 1. The participant must be enrolled in Prince George s County 4-H. 2. The participant DOES NOT have to be enrolled in a project related to his/her talent. 3. Participants will be judged in the appropriate age category: Clovers: 5 7 Intermediates: 11 13 Juniors: 8-10 Seniors: 14 18 4. Both individual and group performances are welcome. The age of the oldest participant in group performances will be used as the entry age for judging purposes. 5. Participants may make a total of two performances. Each solo performance by a 4-Her must be of a different talent. Participants may perform the same talent once as a solo act and once as part of a group, for a total of two performances. For example, a 4-Her could make: 2 individual performances: 1 vocal solo and 1 comedy routine (different talents) 1 individual/1 group performance: 1 vocal solo and 1 chorus member (both vocal music) 2 group performances: 1 chorus member and 1 actor in dramatic skit (different talents) 6. Talent performances are subject to space constraints. Performance space will be limited to the front portion of the center s recreation room, a space approximately 15 x 30. 7. Participants must provide their own instruments, props, costumes, backing music, etc. Participants should bring their own amplification systems (ipod docks, speakers, etc.) if needed. Live animals may NOT be used as part of talent performances. Acts should not require excessive setup time. University of Maryland Extension programs are open to all and will not discriminate against anyone because of race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, ancestry or national origin, marital status, genetic information, political affiliation, or gender identity and expression.

GENERAL CONTEST RULES CONTINUED 8. Individual and group music, dance, dramatic, and other performances may be no longer than 5 minutes. Group dramatic performances (skits) may not exceed 10 minutes. 9. Material, costumes, and props should be age- and audience- appropriate. Backing music for vocal performances must be instrumental ONLY (such as a karaoke track). 10. Participants must register for the event in 4-H Online. At contest check-in performers will complete an Entry Card listing the title of their performance piece and other relevant information. 11. 4-Hers may be invited to perform their talent at future Prince George s County 4-H events. JUDGING AND AWARDS: Judging will be conducted under the Danish System, using the attached scoresheets. Clovers will receive Clover participation ribbons. Ribbons will be awarded as follows: Award Blue Ribbon Red Ribbon White Ribbon Participation Ribbon Points 81-100 points 61-80 points 41-60points 0-40 points Clovers SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Contest Check-In/Practice Starts Promptly at 1:00 pm (Please have all entry forms completed and have garments on by this time.) HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST USING 4-H ONLINE The 4-Her must be actively enrolled in 4-H for 2017. If the 4-Her s enrollment is not active, s/he will not be able to access the event registration. If the 4-Her s enrollment status is NOT Active, do the following: If status is Inactive complete re-enrollment for 2017 and submit. The enrollment will be approved once the $10.00 annual re-enrollment fee is received by the Prince George s County 4-H Office. If status is Pending it is awaiting approval. Contact the Prince George s County 4-H Office. If status is Incomplete the enrollment is missing information or has not been properly submitted. To access the Event Registration: 1. Log in to your family profile in 4-H Online. From the welcome screen click on the yellow Continue to Family button. You will be taken to the Member List screen. 2. Scroll to the bottom of the Member List screen. You will see a box titled Register a Member in an Event Only Members with an Active Enrollment Status May Enter. Choose the 4-Her s name and event from the drop-down menus and click the Register button.

3. Fill in your entry using the drop-down menus, text fields, and check boxes. You must complete all boxes to move forward with the registration. If you do not want to enter an event, choose None from the dropdown menu. Click the Continue button. 4. The Cart screen will appear and show that there is no charge for this event. Click the Check Out button. 5. A Payment screen will appear, and you will see a filled dot beside the check option. You do not need to do anything with this screen. Click the Select Payment Method button. 6. A Confirm screen will appear. Check the information and click the Confirm Order button to register for the Communications Contest.

7. The Registration Confirmation screen will appear, confirming your 4-Her s entries and contest information. If your 4-Her entered the Fashion Revue, click the links in the Files to Download section to download the forms that your 4-Her must complete for EACH outfit entered. These forms must be turned in at contest check-in for the entry to be complete, and they will be reviewed by judges. Changes cannot be made to a confirmed registration via 4-H Online; if your 4-Her needs to change or cancel his/her registration, contact Dr. Alexander Chan at achan@umd.edu or Pam Mack at dmack1@umd.edu, or call 301-868-9636. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 11:59 PM ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 4, 2017. No changes will be allowed after that date. Sample
