Rules Changes Rules Changes Uniform Rule 4-2-2 Note (new e.) Second Referee Rule 5-5-3b(1) A single school or mascot reference may be placed on the sleeve(s) of a solid-colored uniform top. It shall not exceed 4 by 4 inches or 3 by 5 inches. The second referee can make a call for out of bounds for an antenna fault on his/her side of the net without restriction to an informal signal. The R2 is in a good position to make this call. 1
7/10/2014 Line Judges Responsibilities Rule 5-9-2a Note Time-Out Rule 5-5-3b (new 12) The second referee whistles, two short tweets, to end a time-out only if the audio signal has not sounded and both teams are ready to resume play prior to 60 seconds expiring. When the server is on left third of service area, (a) the line judge moves directly back in line with the sideline extended or (b) if directed by the first referee, to the side of and in line with the end line extended. Editorial Changes Signals Rule 5-2-1b Clarification in Rule 5-2-1b and the Officials Manual that there is no need for the first referee to mirror the second referee s signal for the violation if the fault is whistled by the second referee. 2

Points of Emphasis Specifically outlines the procedure for teams to follow after the deciding set coin toss and their location of team benches for the final set. Courts and Markings Rule 2-1-2 The boundary lines of the court are strongly recommended to be one clearly visible color contrasting to the color of the floor. A shadow-bordered line may be used for the center line. 3

Wrong Server SERVING RECEIVING 2. Showing Time outs used 3. Ready Signal 4. Set/Match Point When using these line up sheets, you MUST confirm with the coach who will be their first server. If you are serving, the first server goes in the right back position. If you are receiving, the first server goes in the right front position. 5. # of Subs used. Libero Tracking Sheet Line ups are entered the same way as you enter them on the score sheet. The libero tracker MUST keep track of substitutions. The two #s on each side of the L must be the same #. Coin Toss The home team selects their team bench. The visiting captain calls the coin toss. The winner of the coin toss chooses to either serve or receive. Prior to the deciding set of a match, the home captain calls the coin toss. The winner of the coin toss chooses to serve, receive or the side. The warm-up is 5-5. The serving team has the first 5 minutes. For the second match of a tri-match the visiting team that just played will be the home team, or if the two teams have not played, the team closest is home. 4
