DEER LAKE BEACH Deer Lake Beach is a beautiful sandy beach with a wonderful shore line. The beach is located within the Village of Clarkston City limits, between Holcomb and Dixie Hwy. There are swimming areas for the little tykes and the big kids too, including an area with a few simple play toys. SORRY, NO PETS ARE ALLOWED at the beach. Portable toilets are on site, including ADA units. Handicap Parking available. Lifeguards are on duty during operating hours. For questions about Deer Lake Beach call (248) 625-8223. Deer Lake Boat Launch Information & Rates Daily Boat Pass Rates: $10 per watercraft Boat Sticker Rates (Includes a key) BOAT TYPE PRICE Non-Motor Boat $25 16 hp and under $36 17 hp to 50 hp $47 51 hp to 100 hp $64 Over 100 hp $80 Residents 50 and better 50% discount Season Boat Sticker Information: Boat keys & stickers are available ONLY to Independence Township and the City of the Village of Clarkston residents. A current registration with an MC number for each boat or watercraft must be presented at the time of purchase. The address on the registration must match the address on driver s license/state ID of person purchasing a pass. Boat stickers and keys will only be issued to persons over the age of 18. Only those persons authorized by the State of Michigan to operate a personal watercraft will be allowed to launch. Persons who violate boating rules will have their sticker and key revoked. Boat keys and stickers can be purchased at the Parks, Recreation & Seniors main office (cash, check, credit card), open Monday Friday, 8am 5pm. Boat stickers will be valid through Labor Day 2018. Residents and Clarkston School District Homeowners Discount Swim Passes: Pass must be presented for access to the beach. The 10 visit pass will be punched once per person per visit. Season Passes are unlimited visits to the Beach for the 2018 swim season, limited to persons who reside full time in the household. Names will be required on the pass. Children under the age of 12 MUST be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult over the age of 18. Proof of residency is required when purchasing the pass. Passes are valid from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend 2018. Passes are non-refundable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. This feature complements the serene Park. SORRY, NO PETS ALLOWED on the beach. There are NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY, therefore this is a SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK Beach. 2

SPRAY PARK The New Renee Przybylski Memorial Spray Park Built in memory of Renee, one of the best Day Camp Counselors in the history of Independence Township Parks, Recreation & Seniors. Cost and Hours RES. NON. AGES 18+ Daily Wristband $2* $4 FREE Open daily, 10am-7pm (weather permitting). *Resident pricing applies to Independence Twp. Residents and Clarkston School District Homeowners Family Season Spray Park Pass for $50! Passes are limited to those who reside in the household. This offer is for Independence Township residents and Clarkston School District attendees ONLY. Opening the Summer of 2018! All users will need to show ID for a wristband. Bathroom facilities are limited, so come in your suit & don t forget a towel. All users need to shower before entering the Spray Park. Please note, on days where user capacity is at its maximum, users will take turns in 15 minute intervals so everyone gets a chance to use it. Temperatures must maintain 70 degrees for the Spray Park to open. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult. Also, users should be aware that the Clintonwood Park Day Camp will be using the facility during the afternoon hours on weekdays. YOUTH SWIMMING LESSONS All classes are held MONDAY through THURSDAY for two consecutive weeks. Make-ups for classes cancelled due to inclement weather will be held on Friday and/or the following Monday. Session One: June 18 21 & June 25 28 Session Two: July 9 12 & July 16 19 Session Three: July 30 August 2 & August 6 9 See page 4 for specific age group times. Location: All lessons are held at Deer Lake Beach, 350 White Lake Road, just outside of downtown Clarkston. Enroll for one session, or all three! RES. NON. Whether you have first-time swimmers or those with years of experience, we have a great summer schedule for you to choose from OR you can register for private lessons! REFUNDS: After the registration deadline, absolutely no refunds or credits will be given. For patron-requested refunds prior to the registration deadline, there will be a $10 service fee. Refunds will be issued in the form of an Account Credit, check, or your VISA or MC will be credited. No cash refunds will be given. Check refunds will be issued according to Township Finance Department s bill-paying schedule, which may take 4 6 weeks. If the refund is less than $10, a credit will be posted to your account. TRANSFERS: All patron-requested transfers must be done prior to the registration deadline. In addition to any difference in fees, a $10 administrative fee will be charged to transfer between any activities. All transfers must be done in person unless payment is made by VISA or MC. Transfers are only authorized if space is available in the new activity, and in some cases, may need instructor approval. Call to have a transfer form mailed or faxed, or download online. There will be no charge for instructor requested transfers. 3

Youth Swimming Lessons: Descriptions Ages listed for each class are merely suggestions. Parents should select which class is most appropriate for their child based on ability and skill level. Class information below represents what will be taught and the criteria on which swimmers will be evaluated at the end of each swim session. Choose a session that fits your schedule. PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Private lessons will follow the same plan as group swimming lessons, but will be tailored to student need. Call and talk to the Swim Lesson Director. The swim instructors at Parks & Recreation are now offering private/semi-private swimming lessons! This is a great option for swimmers who: Want to work more on their skills learned in group lessons Learn best in an individualized setting Can t attend a full two-week session Are adults working on their swimming ability All ages welcome. Offered all summer during Beach hours, subject to instructor s availability. Must register by 5pm the Wednesday prior to week of intended lessons. Payment due at first lesson. This hands-on course will teach: lifesaving techniques, how to be a stronger swimmer, basic first aid and CPR. After completing the course, participants will have the option to volunteer at the Beach and assist a Swim Instructor with a swim lesson. See registration information below. INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP PARKS, RECREATION & SENIORS 2018 SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION FORM GENERAL LESSON INFORMATION All lessons are held at Deer Lake Beach, 350 White Lake Road, Clarkston. In case of inclement weather please call the SWIM LESSON HOT LINE number (248) 625-1444 and/or sign up to receive cancellation messages through www.cancellations.com. It is your responsibility to call the hotline number or check online if weather is questionable. Students will not enter the water at the beach when the air temperature is below 70 degrees. All classes are held MONDAY through THURSDAY for two consecutive weeks at Deer Lake Beach. Make-up classes will be held on Fridays of the same week or the following Monday. Make up classes are for cancelled classes only. The instructors will be ready for your children 5 minutes prior to class. Please bring warm clothing and dry towels for immediately after class. Instructors will release children only to their parents. Please inform your child s instructor if someone other than a parent will be picking up your child. For all swim programs, children not completely potty-trained must wear SWIM DIAPERS. Disposable swim diapers are available for purchase at the beach. On the last day of class, you will receive a status report from the instructor indicating your child s progress and the suggested next level of classes. Siblings are welcome to enter the beach at no cost & swim while their sibling is in swim lessons, provided they are supervised and follow all beach rules. Photographs may be taken at certain Recreation Department activities, and, unless the department receives signed, written objections, photos may be reproduced for publication.
