Huddersfield Leisure Centre Customer Questions & Answers When will the building be open for the public to use? We have now confirmed the opening date of Huddersfield Leisure Centre to be 18 th May 2015 at 6.30am When will Huddersfield Sports Centre close? The old sports centre will close its doors for the final time at 9.30pm on Friday 15 th May 2015. This means that neither the leisure centre nor the sports centre will be open for public use on Saturday 16 th or Sunday 17 th May. Over the course of the closure weekend, members on a standard membership can continue to access KAL Sites included in your membership with the addition of our Plus site The Stadium Health & Fitness Club. For those people on a SMART membership you will be able to use Lockwood Park Health & Fitness Club and The Stadium Health & Fitness Club. Both of these sites have free onsite parking and are within close proximity to Huddersfield. Below you can find a summary of activities and when the last usage at Huddersfield Sports Centre will be and when they will move to the new Leisure Centre. Where is the new Leisure Centre located? It is being built adjacent to the ring road to the north of the town next to the Spring Grove car park, in Springwood and is easily accessible via all major bus and road networks. The Centre is just a short walk from the bus station via the subway. Where can I park at the new site and how much will it cost? HLC Car Park - The car park directly next to the HLC Centre has 120 spaces. There are 10 disabled spaces and mini bus parking bays available. Springwood car park The car park is opposite to the new Leisure Centre. What time will the new Centre open? General Opening times of the new Leisure Centre are 6.30am to 10pm Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday is 8.30 to 21.00. The new draft timetables are available at www.huddersfieldlesiure.co.uk, please ensure you check out our new website regularly for updates as they are announced. All our class timetables do change regularly in order to keep them fresh and provide a variety for our customers. Will the price of my Fitness membership be increasing? On a like-for-like basis the answer is no and we are keeping our Smart Fitness product at the same fantastic value of 14.95 a month. We do offer a Standard Membership which gives access to 11 other KAL sites or, alternatively, our Plus membership gives access to all 13 KAL Centres including the Stadium Health and Fitness Complex and Leeds Road Sports Complex. Will the price of other activities increase? Some prices, for example for clubs, may increase slightly to reflect the vastly improved quality of the facilities. There are also several completely new activities and these will be priced as competitively as possible. KAL standard prices will apply at the Centre, facilities that are unique / new to the centre will have their own pricing. What facilities does the new Centre have? What is the large slide we can see from the road? It s a Sidewinder! Water spray jets provide a frictionless surface on a giant u-shaped slide as single or double person tubes are channeled effortlessly to the bottom. This gives an exciting water slide experience with a sensation of free falling. It is the only one of its kind in the area. How much does it cost to use the Splash Park? When purchasing a family ticket only the person paying for the pass must have a KAL card. * A swim nappy will be provided for those children that require one aged 0-3 years. ** Admits 4 people which may be 2 adults and 2 children OR 1 adult and 3 children subject to swim ratios. Please note that the Splash Park is not included in a Fitness Membership or Junior Membership. We also have a pool admission policy at all KAL sites. In summary, one adult can accompany two children where they are aged from 4 to 8 years and are either swimmers or non-swimmers wearing suitable buoyancy aids. Or, one adult can accompany one child under the age of 4 years when they are either swimmers or nonswimmers wearing suitable buoyancy aids. 4
When is the Splash Park open? The Splash Park is open during the following times: Monday to Friday 10.00 to 16.00 NO slides Monday to Friday 16.00 to 19.00 with slides Saturday & Sunday 10.00 to 18.00 with slides. Do I need to book to go in the Splash Park? We would recommend that you book in advance to use the Splash Park which can be done by calling us on 01484 766269 or by visiting the Centre and booking at Reception. You may wish to turn up on the day; however, we cannot guarantee availability. You can book any activity in our Centres 7 days in advance as a KAL Card and Fitness or Junior Member. As a non KAL Card Member you can book 5 days in advance. Height restrictions do apply on the slide and sidewinder. To use these you must be a minimum of 1.2 meters in height for health and safety reasons. Can I hold my children s birthday party at the Splash Park? We do offer several packages for children s birthday parties. These include: Splash Park without slides for 75 plus the cost of three lifeguards (subject to availability) Splash Park with slides for 100 plus the cost of five lifeguards (subject to availability). These can be booked from 9.00 to 9.45 or 19.15 to 20.00. We can also incorporate food into your package, if required. The cost of one child to go into the Reef Fun Zone is 3.50 - or 4.40 for non KAL Card holders. A second child is 1.50 or 1.90 for non-kal Card holders. Under 1s are free. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Unfortunately, only children up to the age of 6 may enter the Reef Zone. When is the Reef Fun Zone open? The Reef Fun Zone is open from Monday to Saturday 8.00 to 20.00 and on Sunday from 8.30 to 20.00. 5

What is the size of the new gym? The new fitness gym is over 1,000 metres² it will have brand new cardio vascular and resistance equipment as well as a functional training zone so that everyone can pursue their fitness goals; whatever they may be. What facilities will the new gym have? The gym will comprise over 100 different stations and benefit from its own changing rooms. The gym itself will be spilt into three main zones: Is there a Café? 1. A Strength Zone which will have a huge range of strength equipment including; pure strength plate loaded equipment, two lifting platforms, a large range of dumbbells, Olympic Flat, Olympic Incline and Olympic Decline benches. 2. A Functional Zone including a OMNIA functional training area, a 33 meter sprint track, Kinesis training stations, dual adjustability pulley station and Watt bikes and TRX frame 3. CV Zone a wide range of equipment with a variety of programmable options. KAL is pleased to confirm that there will be a Café in the new Centre which will offer a wide range of healthy and filling snacks, meals and refreshments for all the family. If you are a member of KAL or a KAL Card holder you will also receive an additional 10% off anything produced in the Café. Will there be climbing at Huddersfield Leisure Centre? 6
We are pleased to announce that Huddersfield Climbing Centre will be running from the new site. The climbing wall will be a great place to climb, meet new people and socialise. With 25 climbing lines split between lead climbing and top-rope climbs, there is plenty to keep everyone going. The main lead wall is an impressive 12.5 meters high, providing a wide range of fantastic climbing lines of all shapes and sizes, specially designed to cater for climbers of all abilities. Wi-Fi will be free of charge in the Café; its availability in other areas of the Leisure Centre will be confirmed closer to opening. Can I hire the meeting rooms? Our meeting rooms are available for private hire for various purposes such as a training day for your work colleagues, a seminar or a team building session. So why not let us tailor-make your event to incorporate one of the other facilities at the Centre, for example, a climbing wall taster session, a 5-a-side football competition or a fun session in the Splash Park?
