NATIONAL TUMBLING TEAM SELECTION PROCESS FOR 2015 1. All athletes will have a ranking score calculated using the following process. 1.1 Tumbling: a. the best total qualification round score PLUS b. of the remaining 2 qualification round scores*: the best score from either salto round plus the best score from either twist round (the best salto and best twist scores may both be from the same trial or may be one from each of the trials) PLUS c. of any of the 3 trials, the best score from the finals round *scores from the trial where the best total preliminary score is counted cannot be used in part (b) of the calculation For 2015 the National Team Trials will be: a. The Trampoline & Tumbling Canada Cup, Kamloops, BC, March 2015 b. The Canadian Gymnastics Championships, Calgary, AB, July 2015 A training camp will be hosted to finalize the selection of the Senior Team in September. This camp will be hosted in Canada or in another country and will count as a third trial for the Senior athletes. 2. In calculating the National Team Ranking score for Tumbling, athletes will be allowed to use an International score from any FIG World Cup event (as defined by FIG Technical Regulations) or any valid International Competition defined by the High Performance Director (HPD) to replace a National Team trial score. A maximum of one salto pass score or one twisting pass score or one Finals score may be substituted. For selection of the National Team, named after Canada Cup each year, only scores from events since the previous Third Trial can be considered. For selection to International events (World Cups, World Championships, World Games etc.), the National Team ranking list will be updated to reflect international scores from within 1 year (12 months) of the entry deadline for that event. Scores earned in the finals round of an FIG event can only be used to replace a National team trial finals score. Scores obtained in Team Finals cannot be used to replace a Finals score because of the different format of this round. Gymnastics Canada will track rankings for the athletes in the following categories: - Senior, Junior and L6 Espoir While entering Senior, scores from Junior from the last 2 Domestic Trials only are carried on (International scores are not carried on). While entering Junior, scores from L6 Espoir from the last 2 Domestic Trials are carried on (International results are not carried on). While entering L6 Espoir, scores starts at 0. 2015 TUM National Trampoline Team Selection Process (v1 July 1, 2015) Page 1
3. For all illness, injury, pregnancy preventing an athlete to take part at one of the domestic trial, the HPD will be responsible for creating a substitute score for the missed competition. The score for each of the 1 st voluntary and 2 nd voluntary and final passes will be numerically calculated by averaging the athlete s score from the previous 2 National team trials. All substitute long term illness, long term injury or pregnancy scores will be made until the athlete returns to competition. In order to receive an injury score, a notification in writing from a doctor is required, prior to the competition. If an injury withdrawal is happening during one of the 3 team trials, it must be supported by an assessment of GCG Team Therapist or GCG Team Doctor on site to get the injury score. Missing a competition because of school or work does not constitute a valid reason to obtain an injury score. 4. SENIOR TUM JUNIOR TUM Women 63.20 Women 62.00 Men 66.70 Men 63.20 * Because of the new rules in TUM that includes bonuses, a close monitoring will be made to ensure the new expectations for score are realistic.
