Scouts will be judged on time and all drivers switched. PLEASE NOTE: STOP BLOCKS WILL BE SET AT 1/4 INCH WHICH HELPS MINIMIZE OVER STEERING. SO PLEASE USE SCREWS TO FASTEN STOP BLOCKS TO AXLE SO WE CAN ADJUST IF NESSESARY. NOTE: THIS IS THE ONLY RACE WHICH A SUBSTITUTION CAN BE MADE FOR A SCOUT WHO IS INTIMIDATED BY THE DOWN HILL RACE. ( A DRIVER THAT ALREADY RACED CAN SUBSTITUTE FOR THE INTIMIDATED SCOUT) During this race team members and leaders can help a car that has left the track or is stuck against the tire barrier and return the car to the track, so the car and driver can finish the race. CHINESE FIRE DRILL RACE This is just as the name implies. A circular track with 4 traffic lights placed around the track. When the scouts reach a red light (1 driver and 3 pushing) they must bring the cub mobile to a complete stop before the stop line and switch drivers and not cross the line before the light changes to green. Team will continue down the track until they get another red light. Total laps are 4, total red lights are 4. Scouts will be judged on teamwork, time, making sure not to cross the stop line at a red light and not to start before the green light, cones hit and making sure all drivers switched.
Cloverleaf track The cloverleaf race is a push timed race around a clover shaped track. Scouts will start on line #1 (1 driver and 3 pushing) and will go thru turns #1 and #2. When the car reaches start line #2, the scouts will switch with a new driver and 3 pushing thru turns #3 and #4. When they reach start line #1 again they will switch again until all team members have driven. Total laps 2. Scouts are judged on time, teamwork and making sure all drivers have switched during the race and number of cones hit.
UP HILL PUSH This race is scored on distance rather than time. Teams will push each member of their team together for 25 feet and release the car and driver up a slight hill to see how far their car will travel. This will be repeated for each team member. Scouts will be judged on average distance from the foul line and making sure all drivers switched and they did not cross the foul line. NASCAR PIT STOP This race is where the team will use a mock car, start from a start line. When told to go they will drive the mock car to a pit area and lift the car on blocks. With a wrench they remove all 4 wheels, rotate the tires from front to back and back to front and tighten the bolt down. (Careful not to over tighten.) Then a driver and the rest of the team will push the car out of the pit area and finish the race. This race is judged on teamwork, time and whether all the tires were rotated.
