With 6 laps to go Wayne, Andy and Fabio were together trying to catch Chris and stay in front of a charging field. 5 laps to go Jon Lafontant was off the front of the pack chasing, and trying to stay away from the field. Who s pushing the pace now, Schaer for 7 laps is at the front, then Tom Taylor for two, Charlie Zauner for two and Robert Kron for two. A break is starting to form with Andy Kerr, Kron and Wayne Simon; no it s gone. Well, time to catch it if we can, Fabio and Schaer are hanging around the front ready at 8 to go, Zauner moves up and they are off with 5 to go. Category 3 45min plus 2 laps. Many riders were off the front for short laps, Matthew Smith, Chip Gray, Kris Kuttler, Dan Robertson, Anthony Lisinicchia, Ricardo Otero, Darek Dudzinski. Then 26 min into the race the filed spread out, a group of riders were away a bit but the make up was changing, with 4 to go the field was together and the field sprint was the only solution to determine who was fastest this day. After a 5 lap warm up of increasing speed Stathy Touloumis breaks free, 4 laps later Jeff Schroetlin joins Stathy, several other riders try to bridge without success. Three laps later Stathy is back in the field, Jeff is down on his imaginary TT bars adding distance between him, a developing chase group and the field. Time trialing Jeff is chased by Chris Steffanoni, Robert Kron, Cesar Correa, Rob Kelly, Adam Lesniakowski,

Ken Delo, Anthony Roth and Joshua Carter (Jeff s team mate along for the ride). At 40min Jeff has lapped the main field and the Chase group loses Kron who drops back to the field. Although the Chase group has the horsepower they hardly gain any distance. At 45 min Jeff is near the front of the field and at 51 min he has broken away from the field with Pete Rennie (Rennie s teammate is in the Chase group) The chase group goes down to 6 when Roth drops back. Four riders, Steve Vandevan, Ara Oggoian, Brad Menna and Stathy Touloumis try to bridge to Jeff and Rennie but in 2 laps are caught by the field and with Jeff and Rennie gaining on the Chase group. Jeff is hesitating catching the 6 rider Chase group because Rennie s teammate is up there. But the Prime bell is wrung with a good prize if Jeff can catch the Chase group and one lap later he is at the front and ready to give teammate Josh Carter a lead out. Two ABD Geargrinders, two Bicycle Heaven and two NOW riders. Correa and Lesniakowski without a team mate in this group must grab a train ride to the front or perhaps hop from one to the other. With the bell comes the wind up to the finish, I would bet the Jeff-Josh turbos are on, with Josh waiting to round the final turn.
