HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. CONTACT WITH ACIDS LIBERATES TOXIC GAS. IRRITATING TO EYES AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEM VERY TOXIC TO AQUATIC ORGANISMS. MAY CAUSE LONG-TERM ADVERSE EFFECTS IN THE AQUATIC ENVIRONMENT. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation Skin contact Eye contact Ingestion Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one s own safety whilst doing so. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary. If breathing becomes bubbly, have the casualty sit and provide oxygen if available. Clean areas of skin affected with soap and plenty of water. Immediately wash eyes thoroughly with plenty of water until irritation subsides. If necessary (e.g. irritation persists) consult an eye specialist/ophthalmologist. Do not induce vomiting. If conscious, drink plenty of water and seek medical advice. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES General hazard Extinguishing media Special exposure hazards Protective equipment THE PRODUCT WILL BURN IN A FIRE To suit local surroundings (if possible large volumes of water) Decomposes at 240-250 C generating harmful gases. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Avoid run-off water entering the drains (e.g. use barriers) Cool endangered containers with water (to prevent container explosion). 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal precautions: Environmental precautions: Clean-up procedures: Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective clothing - see section 8 of SDS. Do not create dust. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Alert the neighbourhood to the presence of fumes or gas. Do not allow to enter surface water courses. The creation and inhalation of dust must be avoided. Do not use equipment in clean-up procedure which may produce sparks. Sweep up spilt material into suitable containers for waste recovery or waste disposal. Do not use sawdust or any materials which may be oxidised. 7. HANDLING & STORAGE Page 2 of 6

Advice on safe handling Storage conditions Suitable packaging: Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid direct contact with the substance. Avoid the formation or spread of dust in the air. Smoking is forbidden. Use non-sparking tools. Store away from Calcium or Sodium Hypochlorite. Store away from acids and compounds containing ammonia. Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area. Avoid incompatible materials and conditions - see section 10 of SDS. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from flammable and combustible materials. Containers must be clean and free from organic residues. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION Exposure controls Engineering controls Personal protection Eye protection Skin protection Respiratory protection Other protection Monitoring of the workplace should be considered in accordance with EH40 (or equivalent) controls. LTEL (8 hour TWA): ppm 10 mg/m 3 Total inhalable dust (EH40/2005) LTEL (8 hour TWA): ppm 4 mg/m 3 Respirable dust (EH40/2005) LTEL (8 hour TWA): 0.5 ppm 1.5 mg/m 3 WEL for chlorine (EH40/2005) STEL (15 min): 1.0 ppm 2.9 mg/m 3 WEL for chlorine (EH40/2005) Ensure adequate ventilation of working area Observe normal standards for handling chemicals. Avoid breathing dust and contact with eyes Wash hands before breaks and after work. Wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the task (see below) Safety goggles (i.e. EN 166 approved) Natural rubber latex gloves (also consider your own risk assessment; e.g. breakthrough times, rates of diffusion and degradation, tasks undertaken) When dusty conditions are encountered, wear a NIOSH/OSHA full-face respirator with chlorine cartridge and dust pre filter. Protective overall. 9.
