DETAILED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS and SUPPLEMENTAL GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT FOR PLAIN TOWNSHIP FIRE 1. SCOPE This specification is for the purchase of respiratory equipment for use by the Township s Fire Rescue Personnel. All respiratory protection components shall be certified with the 2013 edition of NFPA 1981 Standard on Open-Circuit Self- Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services and with the 2013 edition of NFPA 1982 Standard Personal Alert Safety Systems (PASS). 2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1.0 OVERVIEW Plain Township Fire Department (PTFD) desires to replace existing components of the department s respiratory protection program. PTFD has been awarded a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant to assist in the system component replacement. Due to the nature of the respiratory protection program this replacement project will require multiple components with affirmed interoperability capabilities as well as other potential supporting components. The desired products shall provide PTFD with respiratory protection components certified as compliant with the 2013 edition of NFPA 1981 Standard on Open- Circuit Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services and with the 2013 edition of NFPA 1982 Standard on Personal Alert Safety Systems (PASS). The recommended products shall include the ability of PTFD personnel to attain factory approved maintenance technician certification, procure parts and perform routine maintenance on the proposed system components in house as consistent with manufacturer warranty requirements. PTFD recognizes that vendors may wish to quote more than one version or style of SCBA as part of their recommendation. Each version or style submittal shall be expressed as a unique package of required and optional components such that all items are declared to be compatible in form and function, as well as for warranty consideration. Each submittal shall express a unique total package price as well as unit pricing.
