OUTDOOR RECREATION Whitefish Ski Trip Sat., March 4 5 am - Sun., March 5 9 pm Whitefish Mountain Resort offers 3,000 acres, 14 lifts, 102 marked trails with vast amounts of bowl and tree skiing, excellent snow and night skiing. This getaway is a great way to experience all that Whitefish has to offer. Trip includes two day lift ticket, breakfast, transportation and rentals. We will travel about 5 miles round trip through dense forests and open slopes to the saddle of a ridge between Middle and North Peak, where we will enjoy great views of the Little Belts and Rocky Mountain Front. AIRMAN & FAMILY READINESS The Air Force Aid Society, Inc. (AFAS) is the official charity of the United States Air Force. Its three-pronged charter supports the Air Force commission by providing worldwide emergency assistance to members and their families, sponsoring their families, sponsoring educational assistance programs and offering base community programs that improve Airman and family welfare. Airmen Helping Airmen and their Families Each year in March, the Air Force Assistance Fund kicks off, and is comprised of four separate funds/charities that may be contributed to. One of these four charities is the Air Force Aid Society which always stands ready to assist Airmen and their families, as well as guard, reserve and retired military through various programs. The Air Force Aid Society is an official charity of the United States Air Force that supports the Air Force mission by taking care of Airmen through worldwide emergency assistance to Airmen and eligible family members and sponsoring educational assistance programs. The Air Force Aid Society also offers base community enhancement programs. Air Force Aid Loans: standard loans and/or grants, interest-free loans, thereby stabilizing assistance for emergency needs. Falcon loans (Streamlined Application Process) interest-free loans of up to $750 for certain types of emergencies. See the Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) at 731-4900. The Air Force Aid Society also has a Reciprocal Agreement with: Army Emergency Relief, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, and American Red Cross. Educational Services: $6M in General Hap Arnold Education Grants at $2K each for children and spouses. Limited numbers of merit-based scholarships to Arnold Grant applicants. Supplemental Education Loans of $1K to help pay for incidental college expenses.
