The Georgia Steppers League and STOMPWARS Present 2016 STOMPWARS ATL QUALIFIER Step Show Competition It is with great pleasure that we announce the first StompWars ATL Qualifier Step Show competition and showcase! This will be an awesome and action packed event will take place at Coretta Scott King located at 1190 Northwest Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 on Saturday, March 12, 2016. This show will feature all of the GSL teams in the state of Georgia and we welcome any step teams in the surrounding states to compete for a PAID bid to StompWars 2016 which will be held in Dallas, TX. Once registered in the StompWars Championship, your team will be in the running for $10,000 in prizes. We are excited to have your team as a part of this monumental event. This packet will serve as your official guide to the championship performance. Please share ALL of the information with your parents so everyone is clear as to how the show is going run the day of the event. If you have any questions after reading the packet, please make sure to contact the Georgia Steppers League and we will be happy to assist you. Below you will find the information that will make up the contents of the packet. Registration and confirmation of your team s participation There is a $60.00 registration fee for all participating teams with a mandatory 15 tickets to be sold by each team and submitted at team check in the day of the event. In addition to the fee and ticket requirement, we will require the completion and submission of the form below. This form will alert us to the number of participating steppers to expect, the official name of your team including your introduction, contact information and your prop needs. We must have this form and registration fee by Saturday, February 27, 2016. Feel free to send this form prior to the requested date. Ticketing Information Presale tickets are STRONGLY encouraged for this event which is sure to sell out. All participating teams are required to sell a minimum of 15 tickets. Tickets are $10 for all attendees. It is our pleasure to host this event in conjunction with the Stomp Wars 10 year anniversary step show taking place in Dallas, TX. 2016 STOMPWARS ATL Qualifier Step Show Championship Ticketing Information for Fans (Please share with ALL parents) Each fan will have to purchase a ticket to this year s show. This includes parents that assist with set up, hair, makeup and snacks. School aged-children (ages 4 and up) are also required to purchase a ticket. The appearance of age can be determined by those at the ticket booth. If a ticket is lost or misplaced, another ticket will have to be purchased. There will be NO ins and outs for this show. We will provide wristbands for every person in attendance. Security will be monitoring these so we can keep an accurate count of those in attendance. The ticket numbers will also serve as entry into our door prize drawing so fans are encouraged to save their ticket stubs.
2015-2016 Official Rules and Scoring Criteria Please review the following information in its entirety as each team will be responsible for its contents and implementation. Step Show Mandatory Do s and Do Not s! 1.) If a team is performing, whether they are exhibition or competing, there will not be any movement by any competing teams. 2.) No competing team members that are on the floor for a performance are allowed to physically touch or make any bodily contact with the judges or the judges table. 3.) No competing team members that are on the floor for a performance are allowed to throw any objects at the judges table. 4.) All competing and exhibition teams are responsible for clearing the floor after your performance of all props and all other accoutrements. 5.) Judges will remain at the judges table for 15 minutes after the conclusion of the show (after winners are announced), for consultation with only active GSL coaches of competing teams that have satisfied payment of dues. 6.) Judges are not to be approached, called or emailed after the conclusion of the show to discuss the outcome or commentary of the show. 7.) The judges table consists of ONLY 6 judges, 1 lead judge and 1 statistician. 8.) All coaches, team managers, and steppers, that are part of the team performing but are not performing that day, should remain/stand behind the designated area. 9.) When there is a team on the floor, the next team is the team on deck and the team after that is the team in the hold. You are only allowed to be out of the performance area if you are the team after the team in the hold or if you are the team that has just come off the floor and you are cooling off. Teams that are just coming off the floor are allowed to stay out of the performance area for one team performance. After that you must come return to the performance area. 10.) Maintain all levels of respect on and off the floor.
Scoring Requirements Please review the following information in its entirety as each team will be responsible for its contents and implementation. RULES AND REGULATIONS OFFICIAL PERFORMANCE RULES 1. Each team will have a total of 7 minutes to perform; this includes both the introduction and exit steps. In the case that a team performs beyond 7 minutes time limit, points will be deducted from the total score as follows: a. 1-15 seconds over = 2 points (Per Judge) b. 16-30 seconds over = 5 points (Per Judge) c. 31 seconds and greater = immediately disqualification 2. There will be seven (7) judges, one (1) official timekeeper, and two (2) score tabulators. 3. In the event of a tie, or no clear winner for a place, then the prize of that place will be split between the tying teams and the place announced as a tie. 4. Each team is evaluated on 6 different categories totaling 100 points; Appearance (10), Precision (20), Difficulty (20), Creativity (20), Vocal Clarity (15), and Enthusiasm (15). Teams should remember that this is a Step competition and not a Dance competition. 5. All step team members name must be listed on the registration forms as participants to be admitted into the show. Other staff and inactive members must pay admission and be seated with the general audience. 6. No defamation of character or group will be tolerated. This includes defamation on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference/lifestyle, economic status, etc. No belittling of any other team/organization members/groups is allowed. If a Step Team member, coach, sponsor and or chaperone are found to be unsportsmanlike causing a disruption to the step show or other step teams, the step team the disruptive member represents will be disqualified.
7. The use of gang signs, signals, affiliations or hand signals and calls associated with Greek letter organizations are not permitted in the performances. A total of 10 points will be deducted from overall totals. 8. CO-ED TEAMS ALERT: All Co-Ed Teams must follow the 75% Rule. Example: 75% of your team must be ONE gender and your team must compete in that gender s division. 9. The structure and assignment of performance order will be determined by a random drawing. 10. No profanity or sexually explicit content is to be allowed within any portion of the event/performance. Sexually explicit behaviors/content include, but are not limited to, inappropriate removal of clothing, gyrating in a sexual manner, imitating sexual motions, using music with vulgar sexual lyrics (including chants/songs), etc. This reduction will not exceed a total of 10 points by each judge. 11. Stomp Wars staff and sponsors require that your organization, coaches, managers, boosters and steppers conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times during our annual event. Failure to comply with this request may result in your team s dismissal, removal from the competition, possibly exclusion from all other future events The following WILL NOT be tolerated and will result in your team s performance being DISQUALIFIED: Profane language, vulgarity, sexual gestures, inappropriate apparel; music; language and/or choreography, unsportsmanlike conduct (booing, hissing, intentional disrespect to staff, sponsors, competing teams, etc ) 12. The highest and lowest score from each judge will be dropped prior to tabulation. The total score from the judges will be added together and a grand total will be tabulated for each team. The team with the highest grand total will be declared the winner. 13. Judges will represent the Greek letter organizations and will have stepping and or step show judging experience. The maximum points a team can receive from each judge is 100 points. The judges decisions are final. 14. Each team is solely responsible for ensuring that all music, routines, props, costumes and all other aspects of the Team s performance comply with the Official Rules and these Performance Rules and Regulations and all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
