INTRODUCTION The Montreal Grévin Museum offers a rewarding and fun experience to its visitors whether big or small kids. This activity booklet is intended for primary school students. The Grévin Museum tour makes visitors travel through its different worlds going from history, politics, sports and culture. The visitor will discover the history of Quebec and Canada going from the first nations people to the contemporary figures of today. Jacques Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, Jeanne Mance, Céline Dion, Donald Sutherland, bonhomme Carnaval and many more prominent figures will bear no secret for the students. They will also meet the illustrious international personalities who have made history or are still making the headlines today. Discover an overview of the cultural scene of Quebec. To help you to better live the experience that the Grévin has to offer, this activity guide has been developed in 3 parts: before your visit, during the visit and after the visit. The list of characters and the cheat sheets will be sent to you upon request. BEFORE YOUR VISIT ACTIVITY 1 MAKE UP A STORY INSTRUCTIONS The characters at the Montreal Grévin Museum are from different worlds and will make you travel through time. Have you ever imagined what the world would be like if the different characters met at the present time? Here is the context of the game: a meteorite fell on the island of Montreal, wreaking havoc and destruction throughout the city. In teams of four to six people, the students will choose a group of different figures, they are supposed to rebuilt Montreal and make it the vibrant city it once was before the disaster. Thereafter, the teams will have to defend their choice and rationalize it by leaning on research, experiences, and various achievements of the characters. They can choose to defend their choice in writing and/or by presenting orally. 4

During their tour, the students will have to find the names of the characters using their knowledge and the information on the red plates on the walls. DURING YOUR VISIT OPTIONAL ACTIVITY THE MANUFACTURING OF WAX FIGURES To perform this activity, booking is necessary and at an additional charge How is the wax character FABRICATED? A short conference of 20 minutes will help the students discover the fabrication process of a wax character. A short Q&A will be distributed for students to state what they have learned. This is a good opportunity for students: To engage in a discussion with the wax professionals To ask questions and voice their comments Questions can be spontaneous or prepared in advance in class. 13
