Taupo - Round 1 Welcome to Round 1 of the NZ Offshore Powerboat Championship hosted by Pitch s Bar. This is an exciting offshore venue right on the Taupo lakefront. A holiday destination which is a popular for fishing, water sports, shopping, skiing and has fantastic attractions such as Huka Falls, the Prawn Farm and geothermal activity. Boats will be on display at North croft Reserve both before and after the race, which kicks off at 12.30pm and 2:00 pm - two 30 minute races with a 1 hour break in between. Gull Taupo are offering competitors and teams 5c discount on fuel at their self-service pumps 108 Rifle Range Road Taupo. There is a liquor ban on the Lake Taupo Waterfront therefore there will be no tents set up on the Lake front. Please set up your tents on the Northcroft Reserve the liquor ban has been lifted on the reserve Sunday 29 th January from 12 midday to 5pm. BOAT PARKING Boats can be parked on the North croft Reserve in front of Sun court Hotel & Conference Centre from Friday, 27 th January through to Monday 30 th January. RACE DAY SUNDAY 29 TH JANUARY The main race is based from the North croft Reserve and Lake Terrace foreshore. It is slightly elevated and has excellent views of the whole course. Team tents, caravan, commentator and food caravans will be based here on the reserve. CPR & DUNK TESTS CPR Test - This will be held at the Sun court Hotel in Taupo on Saturday starting from 1:00pm & 3:00 pm please register to denise@accelerationonwater.co.nz, please make sure you show up on time! Please note, this is compulsory for all drivers entering for championship points so please ensure you get it completed and signed off. Dunk Test there are a few of you have still to complete this. Matt Gillette has organized a further dunk test in Taupo please contact Matt on 027 6315210 to confirm your attendance. LAUNCHING 100 & 60 Mile boats - Trailer boats can use the main ramp at the end of Lake Terrace or any other ramp of your choice. Please remember that ramp passes are required to launch boats and you must purchase your passes from the Harbour Masters office. Please be organised and quick - give others consideration at the ramp.
MEET AND GREET SATURDAY 28 TH JANUARY PITCH S BAR FROM 5PM Meet and greet will be held at the Pitch s Bar, 38-40 Tuwharetoa Street, Taupo from 5:00pm. A full Menu is available, it s a great opportunity for all the teams and crews to catch-up on the latest news, and we may also have a number of sponsors there wanting to meet the drivers and crews so please make an effort to attend. PRIZE GIVING SUNDAY 29 TH JANUARY AT 7:00 PM The Saturday night prize giving will be held at Pitch s Bar from 6:00 pm. Prize giving will be at 7pm. Full menu is available at the Bar.

Taupo Off Shore January 2017 Race Instructions. New Zealand Chart #No: 232 Milling area: Wharewaka Point - All boats to assemble at Milling Area 300m off shore, 10 minutes before the start. Race 1 Start 12:30pm (approx. 30mins event time) Race 2 Start 2:00pm (approx. 30mins event time) Approximate Mark Positions: (All marks approximately 300m off shore) Mark A 1 38 41.636 S 176 4.192 E Mark A 2 38 41.677 S 176 4.122 E Mark B1 38 42.919 S 176 4.570 E Mark B2 38 42.923 S 176 4.542 E Mark C 38 42.274 S 176 4.961 E Mark D 38 41.974 S 176 4.709 E These GPS co-ordinates are not for navigation purposes and only to identify the area of marks. Course Layout: A1, A2, B1, B2, C, D, S/F All marks are to port, all marks are yellow NZOPA buoys. First Mark of course from milling area is mark B2, C, D, S/F Line, then normal course A1, A2, B1, B2 C, D, S/F. The 30 minute time period starts when the first boat crosses the S/F for the first time. The finish line will be between the NZOPA bus (race HQ) and a black & white chequered buoy on the inner side of the course 250m before mark A1. The chequered flag will be raised at the end of 30 minutes to the lead boat. All boats will finish as they complete that lap and then proceed to round marks A1 and A2 and then pull into the centre of the course. Race Parc ferme (Wet). Stay there until the race has been completed and proceed into river mouth. Race Parc Ferme (Dry) SunCourt Domain Race HQ. Carpark (Lake Foreshore) across the road from Sun Court Domain. Results posted at race HQ as early as possible after the event closure. These will remain provisional results and after 1 hour will become final results unless a protest of results is given in writing to the race secretary within that 60 minute period. There are many rules not written here, it is your responsibility to read and understand the rulebook.
