Each member may also carry one proxy vote for another member the night of the elections. The BTCC needs your help to keep this club running during 2017. Out of over 200 members, it takes more than the same 10 or so dedicated and active members to survive. Please lend a hand and help your club continue to provide year round Trout fishing on the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek and Beaver Creek. Bring your kids, cousins, friends, etc and get them involved with the outdoors!! Page 2 January 15, 2017 Volume 22, Issue 1 President s Message by Frank G. Swarner III The Brandywine Trout and Conservation Club enjoyed another great year in 2016. Trout fishing was fabulous even though we started out with a somewhat dry spring. The East Branch of the Brandywine Creek and Beaver Creek received multiple stockings and I hope everyone was able to get out on the stream and enjoy the fruits of your club s labor. Spring is always a good time to see what your membership dues go towards. Be proud of your club and the creek and stream we help take care of!! Last years kids clinic was a wonderful success for all who attended. It was the 34th anniversary of the kids clinic and the Moose Lodge was packed. Most kids left with their own fishing rod and reel plus a few other goodies for an enjoyable time fishing. I would like to thank Joe Petrella, Jim Gilpin, Rich Lutz, Tom Prusak, and Joe Sbei. I would also like to specially thank the Moose Lodge for supplying lunch and refreshments along with their continued support over the years. This year will mark the 35th year for the Kid s Clinic being held at the Moose Lodge!! The stocking of the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek and Beaver Creek this past spring was just as smooth as last year. For the seventh time in a row, stocking manager Vince Talucci did an amazing job coordinating this tough task on two separate occasions. Since enough members showed up to lend a hand, the job was finished quickly and everyone had enough time for lunch and fishing afterwards. Teamwork can go a long way!! If you ve never helped before and want to learn more about your club and the East Branch of the Brandywine, this is the time to do it!! A special thank you goes out to Bob Bell of the West Chester Fish, Game and Wildlife Association. Thank you for helping us stock, along with providing the use of your power washwer and tools. The BTCC held its sixth annual Kids Rodeo this past season and there was a wonderful turnout. It was a free event for the kids and most of them caught their own fish. For all of you that donated money to help support our club and the Kids Rodeo, it is sincerely appreciated. Thank you making it a special day for everyone. I would also like to thank all the members who helped at the event as well. Everyone made it a special day! This will be the first year in several years that we will not be raising any Trout at one of our hatcheries outside of Kerr Park. The decision to not continue using this hatchery was voted on by the board members since the we have had some power outage problems have lost quite a bit of Trout over the years. As all of you know, our club is a non-profit organization that relies on the help from volunteers that make all of our programs and events possible. Without their help our club could not be what it is today and what we hope it to be in the future. A sincere thank you goes out to the board members and the handful of volunteers that do more than their part of work throughout the year. I hope to see all of you again in 2017 and hope to see some new and younger faces as well.
