There is no doubt that summer holds many joys, but it s time to look toward autumn and its unique appeal. For many, the fall season means school is in session, leaves turn beautiful colors and thoughts turn to new dishes to prepare for upcoming holidays. For me, this time of year has me winterizing my gardens, wrapping up outdoor projects and planning my annual trip for the retailer events! As always, I am eager to speak with some of our most enthusiastic Cherished Teddies collectors. The stories I hear from collectors (like you!) often serve as inspiration for new figurines. With so much to look forward to, it can be difficult to slow down and take a few moments to reflect. This autumn I am going to make a sincere effort to take some time to truly appreciate this splendid season. Our schedules may be busy, but there is always room for a walk to feel the crisp, colorful leaves crunch beneath our feet, or to savor the smells of evening fires and hot apple cider. And of course time must be made to come together with family and dear friends. So as the days are about to turn considerably cooler, I hope you can also find the time to enjoy your favorite things about fall, and that our little Teddies will continue to warm your heart. Inspiring Each Other For More Than 20 Years We d Love To Hear Your Story! The Cherished Teddies collection has been delighting collectors for more than 20 years, but its origins began even before that. In 1980, artist Priscilla Hillman found inspiration while recovering from a back injury. With plenty of time for her imagination to run wild, she would daydream about carefree childhood days rummaging in her aunt s attic. She would imagine forgotten teddy bears waiting to be discovered in a similar nostalgic spot. She would wonder what they would do if they were free to do whatever they pleased. The situations she dreamed up back then became the premise behind the Cherished Teddies Collection introduced to the public in 1992. Today, the figurines continue to be inspired by Priscilla s imagination, as well as by her son Glenn s. But many Cherished Teddies pieces also come straight from real life experiences and stories shared by their friends, family, and collectors like you. The Cherished Teddies Kitchen From pumpkin pie to apple cider, the smells of autumn are undeniably delightful! And as the fall holidays approach, perhaps you are feeling the itch to try new recipes for your guests to enjoy. But sometimes it can be a bit daunting to try to replace your traditional cornbread stuffing for quinoa, so why not try experimenting with your appetizers instead! This mouthwatering, cheesy artichoke and spinach bread will keep tummies happy while the Thanksgiving feast is still in the oven. Cheesy Spinach Artichoke Bread - 1 box (9 oz) frozen, chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed to drain - 1 (14 oz) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped - 2 green onions, thinly sliced - 2 cloves garlic, minced - 4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature - 1/4 cup mayonnaise - 1/2 cup sour cream - 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded - 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated - 1 loaf fresh Italian bread, sliced 1. Mix the spinach, artichoke hearts, green onions, garlic, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses in a large bowl. Reserve a small handful of the cheese. 2. Hollow out 1/2 inch of the center of both halves of the bread. 3. Spread the mixture over the bread halves, filling in the hollowed centers, top with the reserved cheese. 4. Bake in a preheated 350F oven covered in foil for 20 minutes. 5. Remove the foil and continue to bake until the cheese is melted and golden brown. Smiling pumpkins have a way of getting everyone into the Halloween spirit. These cute snack jars are super simple to make and can be filled with any orange snack or candy. Make them with kids or grandkids to give to teachers, or make them for your own friends and coworkers. Jack-o-Lantern Jars All you need is any size jar with a lid, a bit of ribbon, black construction paper and orange goodies. Cut out your jack-o-lantern s eyes, nose and mouth and glue to your jar. Top with ribbon or twine and fill with your snacks. Make several with different faces and different sized jars for some fun and easy Halloween decorations! Page 14
