Over 30 area colleges were invited and 15 RSVP'd that they would be in attendance, unfortunately due to the weather down south only nine were able to attend. Coaches from Colorado, CSU, Northern Colorado, University of Denver, Wyoming Metro State, Colorado Christian, Montana State Billings, and Laramie County Community College were all in attendance. The teams did a great job of competing at a high level for two hours. Several college coaches expressed interest in our student athletes. This opportunity not only gets our players in front of college coaches, it continues to streghten the relationship between NORCO and these programs. We plan to host another showcase this spring. Prior to the showcase, I hosted a recruiting seminar to educate our parents on the collegiate recruiting process. Around 50 families attended the seminar and received information on emailing coaches, video, NCAA rules and finding the right school. https://ui.constantcontact.com/visualeditor/visual_editor_preview.jsp?agent.uid=1119807505650&format=html&printframe=true 1/10

I am more than happy to share the powerpoint presentation with anyone who would like to see it. Please email me at: gmarko1@yahoo.com. The article I would like to share with NORCO Families this week is not recruiting related; however, it is a great supporting article for any athlete: Functional Strength Hitting Clinic Sam Peters, Linda Crum, Amber Ortner Assisted by: Julie Warner Hagemeister, Cassie Vrooman, Myles Wagner, Tory Macomson, Emily Moss, Kelsey Schuppert All hitting positions welcome middles, outsides, and opposites. We will work on specific roles of each position, starting with the technical skills of Attacking. The 2 hour hitting clinic is designed to breakdown the swing and provides hitters a ton of repetitions. Techniques will be broken down from footwork, jumping technique, arm swing, and landing. Special focus will also be given to ball control and shot development. Led by NORCO's 14 Black Coach, Glenn Sapp, this camp will fit any middle school volleyball player. Whether they have never played before, or they are on a 14 and under club team, this clinic will give players the opportunity to learn new techniques, as well as a chance to get tons of touches, benefitting those who's middle school season is approaching, and those who are preparing for the end of the club season. This clinic will cover all the basics in preparation for the Spring Volleyball season, and to reinforce what players have learned throughout the club season. Clinic participants will go over serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking. Clinic participants may be NORCO players, or they may play for a different club, and they do not have to be on a club team to participate. All are welcome. "IN THE KNOW" Is being up to date and 'savvy' regarding club news, clinics, events, travel, policies and tournaments important to you? If so, please utilize the resources provided to all NORCO club families: Every NORCO family should have a Player-parent handbook (available in the office if you never picked yours up). This booklet will answer almost 99% of questions you may have. NORCO's Web site is another great resource. Practice calendar, travel, staff, events and much more is always listed. norcovolleyball.com Weekly newsletters...very FEW clubs offer this and we are extremely timely and informative on these. Sending pics is always appreciated. Please send them to: bingo@norcovolleyball.com Our Facebook page is another site for "news" and pics.
