Summer Outdoor Activities - Falkirk Community Trust 2017 Outdoor Activities Youth Adventure Programme Summer 2017

The Adventure starts here! The Outdoor Activities team have been running our Youth Adventure Programme for over 20 years. This year has all your favourite activities in some of Scotland s best locations. Some of our activities include Canoeing in the Trossachs National Park, Rock Climbing in the Southern Highlands and River Kayaking through the Perthshire hills. Our qualified instructors are able to take full advantage of what Scotland has to offer. A fantastic day is guaranteed; just bring your sense of adventure. Our exciting activities run throughout the summer holiday period. We have activities to suit everyone with a flexible programme to ensure you don t miss out on the action. This year all our activities will take place at either our Victoria Buildings base or Action Outdoors Centre. Children can be booked on for individual days or take advantage of our discounted price for the week. This summer we will once again be offering a childcare element to the service at Victoria Buildings and Action Outdoors by opening our doors at 0830 in the morning and remaining open until 1700 after the activity has ended. During nonactivity time participants will be closely supervised at the centre. Our activities all begin at 09.00 and end at 16.30. Our Centres Courses will be delivered from one of our centres detailed below. If you have any enquiries regarding any of the courses offered please contact our main office. Victoria Buildings Adventure Days Ages 9+ Our Victoria Building based activities will take place away from the Falkirk area taking in some spectacular scenery in challenging adventurous surroundings. Our Adventure Days Canoeing Big boats equal big fun. Come and try it out, or if you ve been in one before, improve your skills on one of our local lochs. You might even visit a cave, an island or a ruined castle. Kayaking You may get wet, you will pick up skills and you will have a whole lot of fun. Our loch based kayaking courses are a great way to explore some stunning areas. River Kayaking A day for more experienced kayakers. You will need to be confident in water and have a skill level above beginner. If you haven t worn a spray deck before try our beginners kayaking course first before booking for a river trip. Rock climbing / Abseiling Rock climbing at a local crag or if the weather isn t good we will go indoor climbing. We can take anyone from absolute beginners to budding mountaineers. How high can you climb? How hard a route can you do? How big an abseil can you manage? Find out this summer. Gorge Walking This is our easiest rock and water activity. It s a challenge to scramble up a steep river where there may be waterfalls and jumps. It s great fun and very popular

Canyoning Exploring bigger canyons, where committing jumps and using ropes to abseil are essential to get down safely. For the more experienced adventurer only. Coasteering Climb, jump and swim along a beautiful stretch of coast on this action packed adventure. You don t have to be a strong swimmer to enjoy this activity and all the jumps are optional. Chainwalk The ancient fisherfolk of Fife got fed up getting cut off by the tide so they got a blacksmith to put in chains and cut steps in the rock so they could always get around. We will explore these chains and then go for a wee jump and swim in the sea after. Blokarting Racing along, powered by the wind, inches above the ground this is a fantastic experience. We really need the wind for this activity to run so if it s a calm day we will do another activity instead. Mountain Biking Mountain biking on single track terrain. This summer we will run bike sessions to suit all needs, from beginner to more experienced riders. For those who want to explore a little further we are running a mountain biking expedition. Bushcraft Learn a bit about surviving in the woods, build shelters, light a fire and get involved in a whole lot of fun! This course will appeal to anyone who just loves being out of doors. Shipwreck Day Imagine being shipwrecked on a lonely beach with nothing but what you ve managed to salvage to help you survive. This is a fun day at the beach learning to survive and thrive in the wilds.
