YOUTH TEAM SELECTION PROCESS 2019

State Youth Team Selection 2019 It is Archery NSW aim to provide the strongest possible Youth Team to compete in the 2019 National Youth Archery Championships. The following process will ensure those seeking team selection are committed to this cause whilst supporting ANSW through participation at State events and improving their personal performance through coaching at ANSW Development Days, including implementing instruction/direction given by the Regional, State coaches and their Personal coaches. Archers accepting their selection in the team will be required to stay in camp for the duration of the 2019 National Youth Archery Championships this applies where a selected NSW team member is over the age of 13 at the time the Youth Nationals are being held. Younger archers are also welcome to stay with the team, but, they can also stay with their family if they wish. This will allow those seeking higher honours to understand, through a State Team experience, what is required by all to function well in a team environment. The Selection Process Archers will accumulate points throughout the year by shooting any of the recognised events (see Appendix A). The scores, some adjusted by the AA Rating Tables, will be added together to give the archers their final points tally. This tally will have additions applied as below. It should be noted that your best score (highest score) only for each event during the qualifying period will be added to the archers total score, the scores will be calculated from the start of the 2018 National Youth Archery Championships (NYAC), provided the archer registers by the required date below - all scores will be updated by the Youth Coordinator and standings published on ANSW website monthly. Scores for all team applicants will be included from the start of the 2018 Youth Nationals up until, and including, the last weekend in February 2019 2018 Team members (incumbents) will automatically be placed on the team applicant list, all other interested archers must express their interest by emailing the Youth Co-ordinator by 31/10/18. This email should include Bow Type with which the applicant wishes to shoot at NYAC 2019 Current age division Date of Birth An alternative email address A mobile number including parent or guardian if they are under the age of 18 The above should be sent to the following youthcoordinator@archerynsw.org.au Team applicants are expected to shoot ALL Archery NSW State Events (see Appendix A) to give them the best opportunity of team selection. Any archers required by AA to attend High Performance (HP) camps or events, either overseas or within Australia on the days of the NSW State Events will not be penalised.

Archers Changing Age Divisions Archers whose age division changes on the 1 st January 2019 MUST submit Field, 720 Rounds for the distances they will shoot at the 2019 Youth Nationals. However, bonus points achieved at the NSW State events for their correct distance for 2018 will be applied, i.e. Archers should compete with their peers in the correct age division at NSW State events. Archers whose age division change on the above date will have their 2018 rounds adjusted via the AA Rating table to reflect scores shot if they were to shooting an alternate round as required in 2019. This practice will cease on the 31/10/17 when archers should by then be training and shooting at the distances they will be required to shoot in 2019 As an example, a Cub who will become an Intermediate on the above date and who shoots a score of 668 for a AA30/720 round (Cub) will have this converted by the AA Rating tables to a AA40/720 round (Intermediate). The adjusted score will be listed in the selection document as 633 This process will be carried out for 1440, 720, Field and Clout Rounds ANSW Development Days To achieve the best chance of team selection archers are strongly encouraged to attend all NSW Development days recognition of attendance will be reflected by an additional 25 points added for each Development Day attended. Where an archer is unavailable to attend a DD due to AA High Performance commitments 25 points will be applied to the absent archer. The Development day bonus points will only apply to DD s after the publishing of this selection process on the NSW website. ANSW Tournaments Scores shot at NSW State Events (see Appendix A) will receive an added weighting of 25% to the score achieved - See note below re the NSW Metropolitan. Any archers required by AA to attend High Performance (HP) camps or events, either overseas or within Australia on the days of the NSW State Events will not be penalised. The lowest score shot at these events will be adjusted by the AA Ratings Table to match the NSW State Events the archer has missed and the 25% bonus points applied. Shooting Events Outside of the Correct Age Group: Where an archer shoots an event outside of their correct age group (to be shot at the 2019NYAC) the scores will be adjusted via the AA Rating system to match the correct round for the archers age. This ONLY relates to distances/rounds shot that are for an older age group E.G. Intermediate archer shooting a Cadet round. The adjustment of scores will not be made for distances/rounds that are from a younger age group/distance.

Calculating an Archers Team Selection Score At the completion of the qualification period each archer will have the following applied: Their best applicable WA or AA 1440 score achieved at any recognised events below. Their best applicable WA or AA 720 score achieved at any recognised events below. Their best applicable Marked Field score achieved at any recognised events below. Their best applicable clout score achieved at any recognised events below. All the above will be added together The addition of 25% to all their NSW State Tournament scores for target, field and clout. No bonus points for the NSW Metropolitan event. The addition of Development Day Bonus Points. Divide the sum of the above by 4 to achieve the archers Final Total (to two decimal points) Example for Joshua Jones: Team Selection: Best 1440 Score 1189 Best 720 Score 612 Best Marked Field score 289 Best Clout Score 292 NSW Target Bonus 265 NSW Short Distance Bonus 184 NSW Field Bonus 99 NSW Clout Bonus 62 Development Day Bonus 125 Sub Total 3117 Divided by 4 /4 Final Total for J Jones 779.25 At the completion of the selection period the top 10 Recurve archers along with the top 10 Compound archers, based on the above format, will be selected in the State Team (nongender specific) and submitted to the ANSW COM for ratification. Where there is an unlikely tie for the 10 th position between two or more archers the decision on the selection of the final archer will be made in consultation between the NSW Youth Coordinator and the NSW Coaching Coordinator and announced accordingly.

Notes: There are no bonus points for the NSW Metropolitan event as this event is not designed for cub and intermediate archers. No bonus points will be on offer for equivalent State run events shot interstate and sanctioned by another RGB. However, these scores can be used to form part of the archer s qualification score. Archers wishing to qualify for the state team MUST be actively shooting events and QRE s (target and field) - at least one recognised event per month from the 1/10/2018. The above forms the core of the 2019 team selection criteria. Minor changes may be applied and notice will be provided to all team applicants if changes are made.
