Thunder Hills Country Club This year we will be partnering with Thunder Hills CC in Dubuque, Iowa. $17 per player for 18 holes with cart. Please contact a member of the Oakwood Golf Professional Staff to set-up a tee time. New Local Rule Seams or Cut Turf Through the green, sod seams (not sod itself) are deemed to be ground under repair. However, interference by a seam with the player s stance is deemed not to be, of itself, interference under Rule 25-1. If the ball lies in or touches the seam or the seam interferes with the area of intended swing, relief is available under Rule 25-1. All seams within the cut turf area are considered the same seam. When talking relief: Find your nearest point of relief, and take a drop within one club length of that point, no closer to the hole. Use your best judgement when taking relief, and if you are not sure, ask the other members of your group. This will apply to all 18 holes. Troy & I will determine when this local rule is no longer needed. Golf Tip Playing in the Wind 1. Swing Easy When It s Breezy a. Next time the gusts are blowing in your face, try making a smooth, controlled swing at about 80%. You ll take some spin off the ball, get a lower ball flight, and take some of the wind out of play. 2. Club Up & Choke Down a. Choking down with in fact stiffen the shaft and help you produce a lower ball flight with less spin 3. Ball Back & Weight Forward a. This will put you in a position where your hands are leading the club and you will de-loft the club 4. Fight It or Ride It a. Understand that when it s windy the ball is going to move, so make sure to account for it. 5. Don t Risk It a. If you get in trouble, the best thing to do is play smart and get back into play. 7
