AquaClara Natural Spa Treatment System Congratulations on your purchase of a Gulf Coast Spa and the AquaClara Natural Spa Treatment System. AquaClara Natural is the safest, easiest and most effective water conditioner on the market today. Your spa water will be softer, cleaner and more enjoyable, with no odors, no foam and no irritation to the eyes or skin. AquaClara Natural is a unique formulation of natural enzymes, minerals and plant extracts that contain no harsh chemicals. We think you will find AquaClara Natural superior to all other treatment methods on the market. The AquaClara Natural Advantage: - Eliminates itching - Eliminates rashes - Eliminates scum lines - Reduces/eliminates foam - Stabilizes ph and alkalinity - Increases filter efficiency and eases cleaning - Reduces/eliminates the majority of your spa care chemical regime including: foam reducers, ph up, ph down, clarifiers, scum digesters, filter cleaning products, chlorine/bromine, etc. - Softens your water naturally - Extends the life of your spa water - Leaves your skin feeling soft - Reduces overall maintenance This system is ideal for spas placed indoors where fumes can be noxious. It will not damage clothing and you will never have to scrub your spa again! This AquaClara Natural kit includes the following: 1 keepsake cooler bag (starter kit only) 1 8-oz. bottle ClaraPure Sustain (2 bottles for refill kits) 1 1-oz. bottle AquaClara Enzyme filter boost 1 1.5-lb. tub AquaClara Tablets (sanitizer) 1 8-oz. bottle Clara Boost (chlorine-free shock for heavy bather loads) Page 2

Your Spa Hassle-Free Maintenance: 1. Pour two caps full of AquaClara Enzyme in the filtration canister monthly. 2. Pour one bottle of ClaraPure Sustain in the middle of the spa monthly. 3. Enjoy soothing hydrotherapy daily! Instructions: Now that you ve made the plunge and purchased your new spa, or decided to give up the chemical soup in your older spa, you ll want to get started as soon as possible. Please follow these instructions carefully. AquaClara Natural Startup: Note: If this is the first time using this system, proceed to the next step. If you have an older spa or are switching spa treatment systems, you must drain and refill your spa for AquaClara Natural to work properly. Page 3

ClaraPure Sustain: (One bottle treats spas up to 550 gallons for up to 45 days.) Page 4 1) Remove and clean cartridge filter. 2) Drain spa and rinse surfaces with warm water. Clean spa shell and cover. Refill and drain spa well (center of spa) 2-3 times to assure removal of all contaminants from plumbing. NOTE: NEVER use household cleaners to clean your spa. They can damage the shell and cause foaming. 3) Refill spa and heat to operating temperature. Note: If your spa water contains heavy metals such as Iron, Copper, Magnesium, etc., you must either use the AquaClara Prefilter hose attachment or a demineralizer to remove these unwanted metals. Most pool and spa stores can test your water to see if it contains these contaminants. Follow manufacturers suggested use. 4) Add one 8-oz. bottle of ClaraPure Sustain in the center of the spa and 1-2 AquaClara Tablets into the filtration canister. 5) For first time use, add 2-oz. of ClaraBoost to your spa and wait 24 hours before bathing. 6) With jets and blowers running, add one full bottle of ClaraPure Sustain and 2 caps full of AquaClara Enzyme filter booster to your filtration canister every 30 days. AquaClara Natural Maintenance Routine: 1) AquaClara Natural should be used with a regular addition of AquaClara Tablets to ensure that the bacteria are fast and effectively being destroyed. We recommend placing 1-2 tablets in the filtration canister weekly. 2) Add a new 8-oz. bottle of ClaraPure Sustain and 2 caps full of AquaClara Enzyme filter boost to your filtration canister every 30 days. 3) Clean filters ensure your spa s ability to trap contaminants. They should be cleaned on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on the frequency of the spa s use. 4) Note: If you clean your filter more than once a month, add one capful of AquaClara Enzyme filter boost after each cleaning.

5) Check ph and alkalinity weekly until you get a feel for how your water fluctuates. It is quite common to find that your ph level rarely needs adjustment while on the AquaClara Natural system. a. ph should be set between 7.2 8.2 b. Alkalinity should be maintained between 80 120 ppm. 6) Calcium levels should be maintained between 150 400 ppm. Never fill your spa with water that has gone though a home water softener or hot water tank. Note: Unlike conventional treatment methods, AquaClara Natural s properties allow you to use a higher ph, without the fear of scale (calcium buildup) on your equipment, in your plumbing, and on your spa s shell. The secret is the natural mineral softeners added to the product. These mineral softeners allow a ph level between 7.2 8.2, a wider range than other treatment methods. How does it work? Powerful yet gentle cleansers: AquaClara Natural contains powerful cleansers that break down oils, body lotions, and other unwanted contaminants, dissolving them harmlessly and eliminating the cause of unsightly scum and foam. Flocking agents: AquaClara Natural contains pure organic compounds that are naturally attracted to contaminants and minerals in the water. Solid contaminants clump together into larger particles that get swept up and caught in the filter where they belong. The natural flocking action keeps your water crystal clear for up to 45 days. Natural Water Softeners: The natural water softening minerals in AquaClara Natural reduce the surface tension of the water and help prevent scale from forming. The water feels soft and equipment is protected. Enzymes: The secret to AquaClara Natural is our proprietary blend of natural enzymes. Enzymes accelerate natural bioprocesses and keep your spa water sparkling clean without the chemical soup, odor, irritation, dry skin, testing, or water balancing. Page 5

Why enzymes? Enzymes increase the interaction between elements. They are added to detergents to help break down blood, fat, perspiration, and grass stains. Our enzymes are of a food-grade type housed in coconut extract, contributing to the effectiveness of the solution. As the solution breaks down during use, the coconut extract is released and gradually coats the filter cartridge, which improves filtration and makes cleaning much easier. This coconut extract has the added benefit of being an excellent skin softener! The result is clean, clear, and fresh water without fear of exposure to harsh chemicals or their negative side effects. Spa care tips and tricks: Always shower first. Take a quick, soap-less shower before entering your spa. This will help reduce the workload on the AquaClara Natural system by keeping soap suds out of your spa. Vacations: You may find that while on vacation for a long period of time that your water stays nice and clear for up to 3-5 months with little or no use. However, before using your spa again it is suggested that you add a new bottle of ClaraPure Sustain and 2 ounces of Clara Boost. Smaller spas (under 200 gallons): Smaller spas are more difficult to maintain than larger spas, particularly under heavy use. There is a significantly higher bather to water ratio in smaller spas. Consequently, the same amount of ClaraPure Sustain should be used for small spas as large. Smaller spas should be drained more often as well. Chemicals: There is no need for clarifiers, scum digesters, foam reducers, etc. AquaClara Natural effectively replaces these chemicals, non-toxically. One to two AquaClara Tablets per week should be placed in the filtration canister. AquaClara Natural effectively reduces the workload of this sanitizer by taking care of the bulk chores nontoxically. AquaClara Tablets should be used ONLY to rid your spa of bacteria fast and effectively, not break down foam, scum, Page 6

odor, etc. You ll notice over time that AquaClara Natural not only reduces the amount of chemicals needed to maintain your tub, it prolongs the life of the AquaClara Tablets. So less is needed to maintain a sanitary tub. IMPORTANT: The enzymes in AquaClara Natural are accelerated when air is drawn into the water. Increasing the amount of time your spa filters per day enhances this rate. If you notice that your spa is constantly turning cloudy and/or has a slight odor, increase your filtration cycle. Turn your filters UP, so you can turn your AquaClara Tablets demand DOWN. ph: Don t fight with your ph! It s common to have ph fluctuations after adding chemicals and while AquaClara Natural is decontaminating your spa. Let your jets run and give it some time. 9 times out of 10, your ph will return to the 7.2-8.2 range on its own. Mildew on cover: Mildew has a tendency to grow in the folds and seams of your cover. This mildew can drip in your spa water and cause cloudiness and/or odor. It is important to occasionally clean your cover with a low-sudsing detergent and water mixture. CLEAR green/brown/black water: If your water turns CLEAR green/brown/black, your source water most likely has dissolved heavy metals. If this is the case, you need to purchase and use a demineralizer, which can be found at any local pool/spa store. Follow manufacturers suggested use. The AquaClara Pre-filter (included with new spas and available by calling 727-490-2228 or going to www.aqua-clara.com) can be used to remove these contaminants before they get into your spa. CLOUDY green water: If you notice suspended particles floating in your spa along with green water, your problem is algae. To cure this problem, add algaecide, 2 ounces of Clara Boost, and make sure that you always cover your spa when not in use (sunlight promotes algae growth in your water). Odor and/or cloudy water: If your water develops an odor and/or cloudiness, clean your filters, turn your filtration cycle up, and add two AquaClara Tablets. AquaClara Natural s effectiveness is increased by air being drawn into the water. You can accelerate the rate at which AquaClara Natural performs by increasing the amount of time your spa filters per day. Page 7

Foamy Water: Almost always caused by the introduction of soaps to the spa. (See also cloudy water solutions earlier.) Take a quick, soap-less shower before entering your spa. Rinse bathing attire several times in warm water before entering your spa. Discontinue use of sudsing spa/cover/filter cleansing products. Thoroughly rinse filters and spa shell in warm water after cleaning. Run spa with cover off and jets and blowers on full scoop out foam. Add two caps full AquaClara Natural Enzyme filter booster to filtration canister, set spa to max filtration cycle and allow product to work for 24 hours. Itching / Rashes: Shock spa with 2 ounces of Clara Boost and allow up to 36 hours for the AquaClara Natural to catch up, and then clean your filters. Most AquaClara Natural users find that, when used as directed, AquaClara Natural solves their itching and rashes. Some people have skin allergies or sensitivities. If you have developed a rash or irritation, allow you skin to completely heal to its natural state before re-entering your spa. Always make sure that you properly maintain your water quality between bathing sessions. DO NOT UNDER-SANITIZE your spa. This can make the problem worse. Heavy Use: After a period of heavy use, your spa may cloud. Shock your spa with 2 ounces of Clara Boost and allow up to 36 hours for the AquaClara Natural to catch up.
