Grand Slam winners Grand Slam usually refers to the sports of golf and tennis but it can also be applied to local football. Between 1946 and 1970 four teams in the North Lancashire & District Football League completed the Grand Slam by winning the Division I League title, the Senior Charity Cup, the Senior Challenge Cup and the Memorial Challenge Cup. Only one of those teams completed this achievement in a single season and that was in 1961-62 when the Lancaster Lads Club Old Boys made a clean sweep of all the previously named competitions. The following table shows how many trophies the teams won from 1946-70 and it is worth noting that the Memorial Challenge Cup did not come into existence until season 1958-59 when the first winners were Lancaster Moor Hospital who beat Caton United 3-0 in the final.
