This will dictate removal methodology ALL specified PPE is to be warn Remove asbestos Note: DO NOT USE high-speed abrasive power and pneumatic tools brooms and brushes high-pressure water spray, jets, power or similar tools or compressed air Asbestos fragments are to be placed into a suitable asbestos container Decontamination All contaminated items, tools, equipment and clothing Decontamination Personal decontamination Disposable PPE to be removed and placed into asbestos container People unknowingly coming into contact with asbestos Situation specific hazards could put a worker at risk No PPE will expose you to the asbestos dust particle Fibres could be disturbed during removal Fibres could be disturbed during removal signs and/or barricades 2 6 Risk assess the specific situation to determine removal methodology 7 As far as reasonably possible this will reduce exposure to asbestos particles 7 Glove Bag Used to cover small jobs. Still requires either the wet spray of Dry Method Minimum of P1 mask and overalls required (Refer to the CoP Section 6.2) Wet Spray Method removal is the preferred method of removal if deemed safe to do so during the risk assessment phase (Refer to the CoP Section.3) Dry Method may be required because of lack of water available at site or electrical equipment in the vicinity (Refer to the CoP Section.3) 7 Fragment are to be placed directly into bag 7 Items are to be wiped down with a a wet disposable cloth. They are only to be used once and not wadded up or reduced into water buckets 7 Personal decontamination involves removal of all visible asbestos dust. Seal bag 7 Disposal procedure (adapted from the CoP section.6) 200um thick bag Wipe external surface of bag and dispose of cloth in bag. Seal with duct tape Place into a second bag Seal with duct tape Label as Asbestos Waste Dispose of Material Note: Asbestos material CAN NOT be kept in Archaeological collections Record any information necessary through the containment bag and then ensure it is disposed of immediately Asbestos fibre could contaminate the environment or other people if not disposed of appropriately 7 Dispose of Material soon as is practicable at a licensed asbestos disposal site 2 * The risk score and residual risk is determined by following steps 1- below.
