The Dodgers are 8-2 this Postseason, including a 3-1 mark on the road. Los Angeles is in search of its seventh World Series title in franchise history. The Dodgers and Astros met once before in the Postseason, with Los Angeles winning a five-game Division Series, necessitated by the 1981 strike. The Dodgers dropped the first two games at the Astrodome in Houston, before roaring back to win three straight at Chavez Ravine, culminating with a Game 5 victory in which Jerry Reuss fired a shutout and L.A. broke a scoreless tie with three runs off Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan in the sixth inning. BOMB SQUAD: The Dodger offense stroked four home runs in Game 2 on Wednesday night as Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Yasiel Puig and Charlie Culberson provided the longballs. Despite having played just two World Series games, the club has recorded six homers, which is tied for fifth most in the Fall Classic in franchise history. The 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers (seven games) and the 1977 Los Angeles Dodgers (six games) currently hold the record with nine home runs hit in the World Series. The eight combined home runs hit in Game 2 were the most homers in a single-game in World Series history. Dodger All-Star shortstop Corey Seager blasted his first home run of the Postseason and his third of his career with a two-run shot in the sixth inning of Game 2 to put the Dodgers up 3-1. Also, according to FanGraphs, the Dodgers defense resulted in 48 defensive runs saved, the best mark in the NL and the second-best mark in Majors behind the Rays (51). Yasiel Puig tied for the lead among NL right fielders and for eighth in the Majors overall with 18 defensive runs saved, according to FanGraphs. Yesterday, Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., announced their finalists for the 2017 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Yasiel Puig and Dodger shortstop Corey Seager were named finalists at their respected positions. LIGHTING UP THE BIG STAGE: Dodger super utility man Kiké Hernández has been on a tear as of late, going 1-for-2 and driving in the tying run with an RBI single in the 10 th inning on Wednesday night. Hernández has driven in eight runs this Postseason, which is the second most on the team behind Justin Turner and tied for the fifth most in the Majors this playoffs. His eight RBI is also tied for seventh all-time by a Dodger player in a single Postseason, while Turner currently holds the record with 14 RBI. Hernández has done most of the damage in his past four games, going 6-for-10 (.600) with three homers and eight RBI. He has hit safely in all four games. Hernández was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2009 First-Year Player draft and made his Major League debut with the club in 2014. In 24 games with the Astros, he slashed.284/.348/.420 with four doubles, two triples, one homer and eight RBI. MR. UNANIMOUS: Cody Bellinger established a National League rookie home run record (third all-time) with 39 home runs, while also ranking among all-time Dodger rookies in RBI (97, 3 rd ) in 132 games. The Dodger bullpen had tossed 28.0 consecutive scoreless innings, going back to the seventh inning of NLDS Game 2 before giving up a run in the eighth inning on Wednesday night in Game 2 of the World Series. Against the Cubs in the NLCS, the pen fired 17.0 scoreless frames. The Dodgers set a Los Angeles record for victories with 104 (104-58), tying for the second most in franchise history (also: 1942, 104-50) and finishing one shy of the club record of 105 (105-49), set in 1953. Los Angeles 104 wins were the most by a big league club since 2004, when the Cardinals went 105-57. ALL THAT POWER: The Dodgers established franchise records with 553 extra-base hits (previous high: 541 in 1953), 312 doubles (previous high: 307 in 2006) and 221 home runs (4 th, NL), which topped the club s previous high of 211 set in 2000. The club also set a Los Angeles record with a.437 slugging percentage, outpacing the previous high of.432 set in 2006. Los Angeles had six players Cody Bellinger, Yasmani Grandal, Yasiel Puig, Corey Seager, Chris Taylor and Justin Turner finish the season with 20 or more home runs, the most in franchise history and tying for the most ever by a NL club.
