Sandi Shaub planned the event and narrated the vintage clothes while Dexter Hill, owner of Hillcrest Ski and Sport narrated the ski clothes from his shop. Our models were Skiyente members, Cindi Becker, Juli Gough, Karen Frost, Wendy Rust, and Fran Gaul. Special models were Sandi s daughter, Megan Forsythe, and Jeff Lokting. Thank you to all. Join Us for a Spring Fling Date: Sunday, June 3, Board the Sternwheeler at 9:30am Location: Marine Park, Cascade Locks Bring $40 to the May 1 General Meeting or mail to: Skiyente Ski Club, PO Box 56342, Portland OR 97238 Sternwheeler deadline has been extended to May 20. Late reservations can only be taken as space is available. We ll try carpool matching. There will be a Spring Fling favor courtesy of Eileen. First, a brunch cruise on the Columbia River Gorge Sternwheeler. Board the Sternwheeler at Cascade Locks at 9:30 and depart at 10:00 for a twohour trip. Enjoy a narrated cruise to the east from the Cascade Locks to Wind Mountain and back. Have a yummy white-tablecloth brunch aboard ship. Your cost for the cruise is $40. Skiyente will pay $10 toward the balance of $50. Next, you ll leave Cascade Locks and drive with other sisters to an activity of your choice. You will pay the cost of your activity and make your own reservations for Carson Hot Springs or Beacon Rock Golf. Skiyente will reimburse parking fees at Beacon Rock State Park. Give your receipts to Karen or Jacquie. We ll have driving maps and hiking maps for you at Cascade Locks. Far West s 86 th Annual Convention Billy Kidd and Wayne Wong will be special guests. Skiyente delegates will likely have a partial subsidy for the registration. Contact Jackie Smith, Skiyente president. info@skiyente.com The Far West Ski Association invites all snow sports enthusiasts to attend its 86 th Annual Convention, to be held at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, June 7-10, 2018. Delegates will be busy throughout Convention Weekend discussing programs in public affairs, skier safety, ski heritage, athletic scholarships, racing, communications, travel, council development, ski industry and community outreach. The event will be hosted by the Bay Area Snow Sports Council and Sierra League and Council. The Silent Auction &Trade Show gives attendees the opportunity to bid on ski and travel packages. This event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend, so we are hoping for a large turnout. The rest of the weekend will be filled with Education Sessions and Public Affairs sessions on Saturday morning and afternoon, followed by our Awards Banquet on Saturday evening, recognizing outstanding club members and industry partners. Sunday winds up with our Annual Meeting and Elections. Additional information about all the programs to be conducted at the 86 th Annual Far West Ski Association Convention and registration information is available at www.fwsa.org. We donate to charitable organizations throughout the community we love. We give to the Mt Hood Cultural Center and Museum and to our own Erin Nicole Scholarship, named for Barb Pressentin s daughter who died of SIDS. In addition, we choose a third recipient each year. Our choice in 2018-19 is the Mt Hood Learning Center. 12
