Handicaps, Flights & Prizes NEW PLAYERS ESTABLISHING HANDICAPS The goal is to have players with established handicaps by June in time for the 2 Ball Best Ball tournament. RCGA Handicap services are available through the Proshop at PGGCC. This is included in the Annual Unlimited Golf fee for club members and can be purchased ($45 in 2017) by any other players. To encourage and aid our new ladies league players, the PGG&CC Ladies Executive will assist by: 1. Helping new players enter their scores. a. If the player has any scorecards from the previous season, those scores will be entered. b. We will encourage players to enter at least 5 9-hole scores such that we can establish an index and handicap. The quickest way to do this is to play 2 rounds of 18 holes and enter the front 9 as one round and the back 9 as a separate round. Then play an additional 9 holes. c. Until June 1 st, we will have a no handicap flight that will be awarded GROSS ONLY prizes. 2. If a handicap has not been reached by June, then the player will play as a zero until a handicap is determined. HANDICAP VERIFICATION The Pro Shop confirms player handicap indexes on a weekly basis prior to Tuesday s scoring. A member of the Ladies Golf Executive (or an appointee) will periodically confirm that scores are being entered into the RCGA handicap system. If scores from a Tuesday are missing, they will be entered on your behalf. FLIGHT DIVISIONS The goal is to have a similar number of players per flight. Flights will be set at the beginning of the season based upon the handicaps of our current golfers. There will be a one-time review of the flights around June 1 st to adjust the flights as necessary. Flight 1: 0-17 Flight 2: 18-24 Flight 3: 25-30 Flight 4: 31-34 Flight 5: 35+ Flight 6: no established handicap (until June 1 st ) Orange Tees
