Driving your Ferrari is FREE at HPR on Saturday. September 28th Bring your Ferrari out to the High Plains Raceway and drive 5 laps during the lunch session at 12:15 to 1:15. If you can t bring your prancing horse, bring another type of car. Have some fun! You won t need a helmet or any racing clothes. You can take passengers with you (16 age and up). I will lead everyone around the track with my 355 Berlinetta in a slow and touring fashion (no high speeds). You ll see how fun and relaxed the Colorado Exotic Car Association events are. And, you will have bragging rights about driving that long straight and climbing the hills in turns 7, 8, and 9! If you would like to pay and do the entire day at High Plains, please read the next paragraph. Please join us for the Colorado Exotic Car Association s High Plains track event. CECA s previous events at HPR have received very favorable feedback. The HPR management team has many improvements including a covered shelter structure (to reduce exposure to the sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.); real bathroom facilities with running water, a fuel depot with racing fuel on-site, and shower facilities. The large amount of down time required to exchange corner workers has been eliminated with a switch to a paid corner worker crew provided by the track. This change provides us with at least an additional hour of real track time. The entry fee is $185.00 per car for the entire day. There is no additional charge for extra drivers. Assignment of drivers to groups based upon experience and ability is very successful and will be continued. Here are some answers we received to identify the mystery car above. It s a 1935 112 MM Boxer Spider (THE TOP IS UP) at the old Colorado Divide Raceway (CDR at Castle Rock, Colorado. John Babos was the photographer using a Kodak camera with a built in flash cube. It s actually a Pontiac Fiero with a fiberglas Ferrari body, taken at PPIR in 2009. The driver is the infamous club member Peter Taylor! How bout them apples? But the correct answer is from the winner, Chuck Kirkpatrick: The event is the Coppa della Toscana on June 4, 1950. It was driven by Franco Cornacchia and Del Carlo. It finished second overall. The chassis is 026M, so it was built as a Tipo 166, but it raced with a type 195 V-12 engine (2.3 liters vs. 2.0 liters).

Outside the rigorous context of science, the term "prediction" is often used to refer to an informed guess or opinion. A prediction of this kind might be inductively valid if the predictor is a knowledgeable person in the field and is employing sound reasoning and accurate data. Professor Predictor s Predictions! For the 2014 F1 World Championship, I predict that: Mercedes will win the world title with Lewis Hamilton. The new V-6 Mercedes engine featuring an evolutionary and unique turbo charging will have 100 more HP over Ferrari and Renault, resulting in crushing victories against the other teams. Mercedes wins will be similar to Fangio and Moss in the 1954 and 1955 seasons. Team Red Bull with Vettel will be 2nd in the 2014 championship however, the Red Bull /Renault/Vettel domination will be over. Hulkenberg will move to Lotus taking the vacant seat left by Raikkonen. The 2014 Ferrari team with Alonso and Raikkonen will win 4 races and capture more construction points than in 2013 but their efforts will fall short. Kimi will win more points than Alonso with a Niki Lauda like Ferrari come back. Raikkonen willl be 3rd in the final standiings, Alonso 4th. Raikkonen will dominate the Ferrari team, often beating Alonso for race podiums. Alonso will retire at the end of the 2014 season. There will be a volatile pairing with Alonso and Raikkonen.. Vettel will join Ferrari for 2015 and win the F1 championship. Kimi will retire. Write your thoughts, reflections, and predictions to the Newsletter Editor. They will be passed on to Professor Predictor and printed in the next issue. How fun!
