7 more to it meets the eye TRANSFER OF VENTILATION SETTINGS (TVS) Transport your patient while the circuit transports the ventilation settings from one device to the next. Begin in the induction room with a Dräger Primus Infinity Empowered (IE) anesthesia workstation. The Primus stores ventilation settings and alarm limits continuously on an RFID chip inside the Infinity ID breathing circuit from the first second on. Ready to transfer to the operating room? Simply remove the breathing circuit from the Primus IE and move your patient with the circuit into the OR. Once you re there, connect the Infinity ID breathing circuit directly with the Primus IE. The parameters stored on the chip are automatically displayed; all you have to do is confirm and ventilation continues using the same settings. D-14319-2009 D-14176-2009 EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ZURICH*: Transferring ventilation settings automatically saves lots of time. Not having to input the data a second time cuts down on user errors, which means a higher level of patient safety. D-14183-2009 D-14185-2009 D-12561-2009 D-14195-2009 D-14192-2009 D-14269-2009 D-14301-2009 This function makes ventilation parameters transparent. Infinity ID accessories ensure that initial ventilation settings are carried on continuously. * The statements here and on the following pages are from a questionnaire completed by at doctors and caregivers at the University Hospital in Zurich in 2010. 6 DRÄGER INFINITY ID-ACCESSORIES There s much than EXCHANGE CONTROL You ll never have to worry about missing an exchange date again our devices will remind you. The Infinity ID water trap from Dräger stores the date of first use on an RFID chip. D-14395-2009 D-14469-2009 MT-0821-2008 At the end of the 28-day replacement interval, the Primus IE will notify you. D-14281-2009 Now you can exchange the water trap on schedule, avoiding damage to devices caused by using old water traps. D-14537-2009 D-12369-2009 D-12634-2009 D-14546-2009 D-14586-2009 D-14168-2009 MT-0819-2008 D-14190-2009 D-21994-2009 EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ZURICH: You can keep your eye on the exchange interval because it s shown on the display. The additional functionality of the water trap is extremely useful because it avoids damage to the machine.
7 more to it meets the eye MISMATCH CONTROL Just connect the breathing circuit. The system will help you recognize possible connection errors. The Primus IE recognizes the connector of an Infinity ID breathing bag or Infinity ID breathing circuit. D-14319-2009 D-14176-2009 If a circuit is incorrectly connected, an alarm will sound, enabling you to immediately correct the error. EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ZURICH: Correction error monitoring improves patient safety because an alarm sounds if a wrong connection is made. Even when you re careful, incorrect connections do happen. It s reassuring to know that the system can recognize an incorrect circuit connection right away. D-14183-2009 D-14185-2009 D-12561-2009 D-14195-2009 D-14192-2009 D-14269-2009 D-14301-2009 D-14311-2009 D-14326-2009 D-14373-2009 D-14558-2009
6 DRÄGER INFINITY ID-ACCESSORIES There s much than COMPATIBILITY CONTROL You can count on it: The system automatically checks to make sure if the accessories are approved for use together. D-14395-2009 D-14469-2009 MT-0821-2008 For example, is the Infinity ID breathing circuit certified for use with the Primus IE? D-14281-2009 If not, the Primus will inform you of this incompatibility as soon as the connection is made, easily avoiding potential hazards for patients and devices. D-12634-2009 D-14546-2009 D-14586-2009 D-14537-2009 D-12369-2009 D-14168-2009 MT-0819-2008 D-14190-2009 D-21994-2009 EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ZURICH: For accessories, the system doesn t just check to see if it s a product from a different manufacturer; it also looks to see if it is certified for use. That has a positive impact on the safety of our patients.
7 more to it meets the eye LOCK-IN CONTROL As quick as a click: The anesthesia workstation lets you know if the CLIC Absorber is not firmly connected. Is the Infinity ID absorber just parked in its holder on the Primus IE? D-14319-2009 D-14176-2009 The Primus IE recognizes this problem right away. The system informs you that the absorber is in park position as soon as ventilation begins, which lets you make a firm connection quickly. EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN ZURICH: This function helps us use the machine more effectively. If the absorber isn t properly connected, it can translate to risk for the patient, which is why this function makes an important contribution to patient safety. D-14183-2009 D-14185-2009 D-12561-2009 D-14195-2009 D-14192-2009 D-14269-2009 D-14301-2009 D-14311-2009 D-14326-2009 D-14373-2009 D-14558-2009
6 DRÄGER INFINITY ID-ACCESSORIES There s much than CONFIGURATION CONTROL Get ready to be more efficient: The system automatically sets all parameters to correspond to those of the Infinity ID breathing circuit. D-14395-2009 D-14469-2009 MT-0821-2008 The accessory-specific data for example, for active humidification is stored in the Infinity ID breathing circuit. D-14281-2009 When you connect the circuit to an Evita Infinity V500 ventilator, all settings are transferred automatically no need for separate input of the ventilation settings. D-14190-2009 D-21994-2009 CALCULATION OF REMAINING CO 2 ABSORBING CAPACITY Something you can count on: With the help of the absorber, the system automatically calculates the remaining capacity of the soda lime. How much soda lime has already been used? Thanks to the Infinity ID CLIC Absorber by Dräger, you won t ever have to guess again. D-12634-2009 D-14546-2009 D-14586-2009 As soon as ventilation begins, the Primus IE simultaneously begins to calculate the remaining CO 2 absorption capacity. You can see the results on the self-test page of the Primus user interface. If 80 % of the soda lime has been used, the system will inform you, giving you time to prepare to replace it. 8 DRÄGER INFINITY ID-ACCESSORIES INFINITY ID-ACCESSORIES QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS What exactly are ID-accessories? Infinity ID-accessories are based on RFID technology, which is short for Radio Frequency Identification. You may have seen RFID technology used in retail stores. If someone tries to remove an article from a store without paying for it, an alarm will sound at the exit thanks to RFID. With Infinity ID, Dräger has pioneered the use of this technology for clinical use in intensive care units and operating rooms. How does RFID technology work with Infinity ID-accessories? Quite simply: RFID makes a wireless connection between the accessory and the device. When you connect an Infinity ID-accessory to an Infinity IDdevice from Dräger, the accessory and the device exchange data. This data is transformed by the device software into useful additional functionality for your daily clinical routine. Can the radio waves cause harm to myself or my patients? No, the transmitter power is extremely low. The stored data needs to be transferred only a few centimeters between the accessory and the device. Infinity ID conforms to all current standards for medical products as well as for radio devices. Accessory Device Can the data on the radio chip get lost? No, the stored data is always duplicated, which rules out the possibility of losing the data. Does the chip store patient data? D-30226-2011 User Display Yes, but only therapy-relevant data, such as age, weight and size. Names or other personal data are not stored.
