The competition has an unique and thrilling race formula based on club spirit. 1. Venue The competition venue is the high plateau of the Renon mountain (2259m) at the very heart of South Tyrol, above the region s capital city Bolzano. It is the first time the Renon hosts an international orienteering competition! 2. 3. Training Training opportunity at Lobishof/Soprabolzano on Friday from 13.00 to 18.00. Training maps can be purchased at the meeting point for the cost of 4 Euro. Two courses will be available: Short 3,1km Long 4,3km Punching system: SportIdent It is possible to buy other training maps around Bolzano for the cost of 2 Euro. Change over Runners from different clubs are allowed to run together but as it is a club relay it is strongly recommended to compose club teams! 5. Single runners without team Single runner has the possibility to run one of the five legs. The athletes who choose to run short legs (2nd or 3d) may taking part in the restart at 11.30. All other single runners are starting with restart at 13.00. Entries are possible via e-mail relay-dolomites@tolweb.net or at arena until 10.30, specifying Name, Surname, Class, Club, Date of birth, SI-Chip Number, Course. The entry fee is 15,00 Euro. 6. Spectator control & forking There will be a public control after 90% of the course for all legs. Forking will be used on all legs 7. King and Queen of the Stone The best man and woman on the leg between pre-warning and public controls will be crowned as King and Queen of the Stone. The leg is ca. 300m with height difference of 60m. The best three men and three women will be awarded.
8. Overview map 9. Team formation changes The team formation must be defined by Friday 25th May, midnight. Changes regarding the team formations can be done until Sunday 27th May, 08.30. Every change will be charged with a processing fee of 5,00 Euro. 10.Terrain Coniferous forest at 1500-1700m above sea level. The runnability and visibility are mostly good. Pay attention on green3 areas, this dense forest consist mostly of low mountain pine (pinus mugo) that very difficult to pass through. 11. Map Scale 1:10.000, eqv. 5m for Relay of the Dolomites. Scale 1:7.500, eqv. 5m for Kids Relay. New map produced by UKR-RUS team (Victor Kirianov and Vadym Prokopchuk) in October 2017.
12. Team documents The team envelop contain number bibs, competition info, and small gadgets for all runners. Each leg has its own color on the bib. 1st leg blue, 2nd leg green, 3d leg yellow, 4th leg pink, 5th leg black. 13. Punching system SportIdent. It is possible to rent SI card for 2,00Euro/peace. 14. GPS 16. Start 10 best teams on the 1st, 4th and 5th legs will carry vests with GPS units.. The teams will be announced by speaker before and during the competition. Make sure to pick up your vest well in time. Showing up at the start without GPS unit will lead to team disqualification. 15.Control descriptions Control descriptions will be printed on the map. In some detailed areas the controls are set near to each other, please check the numbers! Near to the control on the map will be printed number and control code, ex: 1-31 Mass-start Kids Relay is at 9.23, mass-start Relay of the Dolomites at 9.30. The runners are responsible to clear and check the SI card and be 5 min prior to start at their positions. It is forbidden to look at the map before the start signal. 17. Kids Relay For the first time also children have the own competition Kids Relay. There will be two classes: Boys and Girls. The age is 10-14 years old (born 2008-2004). Each team consist of two athletes. It is strongly recommended to compose club teams! All children start with mass-start at 09.23; the times of teammates will be summed. Length Boys - 2,2km Girls - 2,0km
18. Changeover procedure The incoming runner crosses the finish line, punches the finish SI unit, leaves his map in container and continues to the mapstand, where he picks up the next runner s map and hands it over to his teammate. Please make sure you pick up the correct map, because otherwise not only your team will be disqualified but also the team from which you mistakenly took the map. If you encounter any problem at the changeover immediately refer to our staff at the finish area. 19. Finish Finish line decides the final position. Finish punching has to be made after finish line. 20. Restart At 11.30 will be a mass-start for not yet started 2nd and 3d legs and single runners for short courses. At 13.00 will be a mass-start for all other not yet started runners. 21. Arena
22. Parking Parking fee is 5,00 per day/car, minibus and 10,00 per day/camper. From parking to Arena is 1,5km and 150hm. There will be organized transport for heavy luggage (tents ). It starts from parking to Arena latest 8.00. 23. Food and drinks Food and drinks will be for sale at the arena provided by Macelleria Weissensteiner Werner 24. Prizegiving ceremony The prizegiving ceremony has place on the arena at 14.30. The first 10 teams of Relay of the Dolomites and first 3 teams in both classes of Kids Relay will be awarded. There will be a special award for the three best men and three best women on the lap King and Queen of the Stone. 25. Maximum time The finish will be closed two hours after second restart at 15.00. 26. Toilets Toilets are near to the Arena. 27. Copyright pictures With the entry to the Relay of the Dolomites the athlete gives the organization permission to take photographs of him/her and to use these photographs for marketing purposes. 28.
