DEAR OPEN WATER COLLEAGUES The Danish Swimming Federation is once again happy to invite your Open Water Swimmers and team supporters to the 5th leg of the LEN Open Water Swimming Cup the 25th of August 2018 in Copenhagen. The course is planned as a 3-lap 2000-meter flat water race around the Danish Parliament building, Christiansborg Castle, in the center of the city of Copenhagen, with a total distance of 6 km. The race will be spectated by more than 4000 recreational Open Water swimmers, who are attending the TrygFonden Copenhagen Swim a big public swimming festival at the same spectacular course as the LEN Cup. Important dates to note: Please take note of these deadlines for entry and booking. COURSE The swimming course is a 3-lap 2000-meter race with a total distance of 6 km. The swimmers will start from a floating platform on pre-selected starting spots. The swimmers will swim counter-clockwise around the Danish Parliament building on a clearly marked course. We expect the water-temperature to be around 18-20 degrees. Please make sure to understand the LEN/FINA rules regarding the use of wetsuit. There will be a 20-meters feeding zone on the starting platform after lap 1 (2 km) and lap 2 (4 km). The finish line will be clearly marked with a funnel and a photo-finish. To see the layout of the course please go to the MAP OF THE COURSE Accreditation All swimmers and team staff will receive accreditation badges upon arrival at the official hotel or at the team s first swim practice at the event site. These badges give the right to access the competition venue and must be worn at all times. Prize Money The swimmers (men and women) winning gold, silver and bronze medals will be rewarded by LEN with the following money prizes. 1st place: 2500 2nd place: 1500 3rd place 1000
ACCOMMODATION THE OFFICIAL HOTEL Official hotel: Hotel Scandic Sydhavnen, Sydhavns Pl. 15, 2450 Copenhagen Official accommodation dates: 23-25th August 2018. Check in will be available from 4pm on the 24th. Check out will be possible after the LEN Cup. Latest check out time is 1pm. The modern Hotel Scandic Sydhavnen is located 3 kilometres from the center of Copenhagen and 10 minutes drive from Copenhagen Airport. ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION (NOT PART OF THE OFFICIAL ACCOMODATION) Copenhagen offers a variety of others accommodation possibilities. For example the Danhostel Copenhagen City. A hostel located a few minutes walk from City Hall Square, the central train station, Strøget and Tivoli, but still within walking distance of the competition site. The prices range from 30 for 4-person dorm-room with the possibility to buy breakfast at the cost of 10. It is possible to book shuttle buses to and from Copenhagen Airport through Danhostel.
