23 rd April 2018 FROM THE PRINCIPAL Welcome to Term 2! I hope everyone enjoyed their break and has returned feeling refreshed and ready for a big term. There are eleven weeks in this term with school finishing on June 29. During that time all students will be participating in a wide range of activities including ANZAC commemorative services, NAPLAN testing, and Sports Carnivals. the photographer s part, and a Year 4 child was put into a Year 5 photo. As a result, both sets of class photos are being reprinted, and will be here shortly. Be kind to a teacher today we have all had our flu jabs!! The Shine program for girls in Year 6 has begun again this term. Thanks to Chappy for organising it again. It is a great program that gives girls confidence across a range of areas. A reminder that we have two programs running in the school that can be accessed at home if you have the internet. Lexia is the reading program that students can work at their own level. Symphony is the Maths program. Students have been given passwords so they can access it at home. Anzac Day: Two ceremonies will be held at the school starting at 9:00am at the Pool, and then for Prep to 2, in the undercover area. Parents are welcome. School Photos: There was a mix up on
From Mrs Layt. So here we go! It s a big term for performances for all of us. We have the Rockhampton Eisteddfod and Show plus Fanfare for our instrumental music students. So attendance is really important. In fact - some will be compulsory. Rockhampton Eisteddfod dates: Senior Signers Wednesday 2 nd May Cresso Crackers Wednesday 2 nd May Wind Ensemble Monday 21 st May Cresso Crackers Wednesday 23d May Senior Choir Friday 25 th May Notes for every performance will be sent home with details. Cresso Crackers already have their signing note and Senior signers will get theirs at rehearsal tomorrow. ANZAC Day 2018 Tuesday 24 th April We would appreciate your sending along any flowers or ferns that you might have in your garden to make up the class / year level wreath. Years 3 to 6 students will participate in an ANZAC Commemoration at 9.10am at the CLSS War Memorial Pool. The service takes about 30 minutes and family and friends are very welcome. Prep to Year 2 students will meet in the Under Covered Games area for a more informal ceremony which will include laying wreaths / flowers at the flag pole at 10.00am. Wednesday 25 th April Proudly, our Cresso community is usually the largest primary school group in the Rockhampton ANZAC Day Parade. We march behind 31/42 RQR since we represent so many of their soldiers as part of the RSL s Community Link Program. We urge everyone to join us parents and families are welcome to march behind our students. We will meet at 9.30 at the Archer Park Railway Station in Archer Street [one block behind Target] and students can be collected from the Rockhampton Library at 10.20.am Full school uniform is required as well as a blue school hat. Mrs Layt Music Teacher A Little Bit Quirky Inside PE Preps are working with hula hoops; years 1 and 2 are working with skipping ropes; years 3-6 are learning/reviewing athletics. Coles Vouchers Many thanks to those who collected Coles vouchers. Counting is continuing so if you have vouchers still at home please send them in. Cross Country Trials were held last Thursday and successful children have received their paperwork. Please return this to me by tomorrow. The inter-school trials are next Tuesday 1 st May at Kalka Shades. I am obviously absent from school that day, as I will be attending the trials. Rockhampton Rockets Visit The Rockets will be coming to play us on Tuesday 8 th May at 1.30pm. Parents may remember the Cairns Taipans visit a couple of years ago which was a ton of fun. All are welcome to come and watch. Quirky s Training Training for sports day will commence next week, week 3. Children must have covered field events in PE before they can train for those events. Cresso Playgroup is Back during term 2 Cresso Playgroup is held every Tuesday in the school hall from 9 am to 11 am. Children from 0 to 5 years old, their parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome. Please don t forget to bring a water bottle and a hat.
