Why did Cricket Australia make the changes to the match dates? A. The changes to the schedule have been made with the well-being of the grieving Australian cricket players in mind. Cricket Australia has worked hard to ensure cricket fans around the country can still get to top-level cricket in their hometown this season.
Q. Why couldn t Cricket Australia leave the match dates as they were? A. Phillip Hughes funeral took place in the New South Wales town of Macksville on Wednesday 3 December. These are difficult days and we need to support our players in dealing with their grief. Playing a Test right now is just too soon and we are reacting accordingly. We appreciate the understanding of cricket fans around the country, particularly those in Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney during these highly difficult times. A concern with these changes has been creating congestion within the cricket calendar by holding four Test matches in 33 days. We knew that if we started any later than 9 December, that congestion would only get worse. We looked at possibly holding the Commonwealth Bank Brisbane Test in the new year following Sydney, but we felt that would only compromise the Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series against England and India which is important preparation for our ICC Cricket World Cup campaign. The changes to the two Carlton Mid ODIs were required to provide the Indian players appropriate recovery time after their Tour match, which follows the Commonwealth Bank Sydney Test in the lead up to their first Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series match. Q. What day of the Sydney Test will Jane McGrath Day be on now? A. Jane McGrath day will still be held on Day 3 of the Commonwealth Bank Sydney Test, which is now Thursday 8 January. For the latest updates, visit http://www.mcgrathfoundation.com.au/ Q. Who can I contact to discuss my situation further? A. Please direct any written feedback to acf@cricket.com.au Due to the volume of queries from ticket holders with regard to match changes, please note that there may be a short delay in responding to your query. However, we will respond as soon as practicable.
