Mr. Suliman commenced his duties on the 1 st September 2016. As another season dawns upon us, it is important that we review the highlights of the past season as well as to look into the challenges going forward. As you might imagine, effectiveness is largely dependent on reviews and strategic planning. During the season ahead, we will focus on the following amongst other priorities: Our Semi-Pro team will compete with great enthusiasm in all formats of the game. The Eastern Women s team will continue to progress from a very good 2015/2016 season. The player pathway and the coach s pathway will concentrate on improved pipelines. The Provincial Academy now fully operational, will be playing many more games and will be intensified. The competitiveness within our club cricket leagues is healthy and strong, the migration of 9 clubs from Gauteng Cricket promises to make our leagues more competitive and exciting. The KFC mini cricket programme continues to serve its objectives; our aim will be to grow the programme. we already had a very successful provincial seminar and a few regional festivals, we now look forward to hosting our provincial festival in October. The area of school s cricket is abuzz as the season is up and running. Our trials for the various age group teams will be held in early October. The highlight of our season will be the hosting of the CSA U17 WEEK, preparations are well underway. A greater effort is being engineered by our affiliates to encourage the growth of scorers and umpires. SAHARA PARK WILLOWMOORE, BENONI TEL: (011) 746 9000 FAX TO EMAIL: (086) 621 7793 The season ahead will see us put in a great deal of time and effort into the ongoing implementation of the new CSA activity based funding model. Emphasis will be placed on the presentations and returns of our P13 and P14 submissions with regards to the cricketing services department. This aspect has seen a steady improvement in our delivery of services, professionalism and better monitoring structures. It is hoped that the season ahead, will see us celebration our successes. Page 6 SEMI PRO Andre Nel Since we have started with pre-season on the 1st July, we have preparing for the season but especially the Africa Cup tournament that was taking place from the 9th 11th September in East London. Preparation has gone really well so far. Guys have been training hard with our fitness trainer Devon van Onselen to get fitness levels on par with the Titans guys. Skills training has also been going very well and guys have made massive strides in how their skills has improved. We have also been fortunate enough to have gone on a pre-season tour to Skukuza in The Kruger National Park from the 31 st August to the 4th September. It was an amazing experience for all off us to see the Big 5 in their natural environment. We had some good team building things arrange and all of these where brilliant for us to gel as a team and get all of us on the same page for upcoming season. The outstanding thing about our pre-season tour was to touch a Rhino in The Boma s and then the next day to hike in the bush to where a Rhino was unfortunately poached. It put everything in perspective again how brutal they are and how quickly this beautiful animal is becoming in danged. We left our pre- season tour a lot closer and ready for the season to start. We had a few days to do our final preparations for the Africa Cup after our pre-season tour. We trained well and the squad selected was ready to leave for East London to represent Easterns. We had a final training session in East London and we felt ready to on the challenges of the Africa Cup. Our first match was against Border on Friday evening. We unfortunately didn t play up to our standards and we lost our first game against Border. Very disappointing the way we played but we addressed those issues and ready to take on Free State in our second game. There was lots off rain expected in East London over the weekend and unfortunately they weren t wrong. Our game against Free State got rained out and it rained so much that our game against Zimbabwe also got called off on Sunday morning. It ended up the only games that took place was on Friday and due to the tournament rules the Pool will be decided on a lucky draw of balls. The draw took place on Sunday morning and unfortunately we fell out and didn t win the pool but Zimbabwe did. Very disappointing weekend for us!!! We had a few days rest after the Africa Cup tournament and then we started preparing for our season that starts on the 6 October against Free State with a 3 day game. In preparation for that we also playing a warm up game against The Lions from the 21 st 23rd September. Hopefully we will get some good challenges in this game to help us prepare for our season. All in all I think we on the right track to hopefully have a successful season and have some new and young players putting some good performances for Easterns.

Page 7 ACADEMY Ephraim Nyawo As the season is about to begin, the boys have been hard at practice sessions. In the past few months the boys have played couple of games against our Semi pro team and the boys did well. It shows all the hard work we have been doing it s paying off. The boys have improved on their skills and their fitness and mental toughness. It was good to see sum of our Academy boys got selected to play in the Africa Tournament at East London, and some boys went into the off season camp with our Semi Pro team at Skukuza. In the space off 2 Month the Academy boys have played Matches. On the 12 th to the 14th of September 2016 VS Gauteng Academy Team, we played two T20 and two 50/50 overs matches. On the 18 th and 19th of September 2016 we played two T20 against our Semi Pro team. On the 6th and 8th we played two 50/50 Matches against Ghana. It was good to see the boys applying their skills on the field against the other teams.

Page 8 SCORERS & UMPIRES Yolandi Frost Scorers There were scorers that have scored for the ACA Tournament from 10 18 September 2016.A few scorers have been selected to score for the ODI on 25th September 2016 South Africa vs. Ireland and on 27 th September 2016 Australia vs. Ireland. The club season is getting nearer and all the scorers are looking forward for the matches that will be taking place. All the courses on the different levels have been conducted in the off season respectively. Umpires The umpires had training with 2 x CSA Umpires on the 6 & 7 August 2016. The attendance of our umpires were good.

Page 9 COACHING EDUCATION Marvin Tsehisi The focus in off season for this year 2016 was to emphasis fundamental of different skills for each and every coaches to understand and to improve their cricket knowledge. The most important attribute of any coach is that they want to help the person or people they are coaching to learn. Easterns cricket coaching education department implemented the program designed to up skill the knowledge of the coaches in all the regions. The respond from coaches was fantastic and the future looks much brighter. A good coach doesn`t see themselves as an expert able to fix all problems and having all the answers. Instead, they see themselves as supporting the process of learning. The project is so fun and energetic and you can`t implement it alone you need a strong team, all tools and materials to be successful. I will like to take this opportunity to thank you Cricket South Africa for supporting the program and see that Cricket is growing in this country for future purpose. Well done Team

COACHING EDUCATION The following coaching courses took place as follows: Level of Course Course Date Venue 2 12-15 July 2016 Sahara Park Willowmoore 1 20-25 July 2016 Sahara Park Willowmoore 1 01-06 August 2016 Sahara Park Willowmoore 1 02-04 September 2016 Alberton Cricket Club The level III course was held at the CSA Centre of Excellence from Monday 5 th to Friday 9th September 2016 in Pretoria and the following candidates Hendrik van der Kruit and Casey Arnold attended. Our intention is to have more qualified coaches in our structure and more level III in future. The last year level II group will be forming part of refresher course in October. The main objective for that is to start preparing coaches for next year level III course respectively. Whether you`re a professional coach, a leader or manager using a coaching approach to help your team members develop, or using your coaching skills in a less formal environment, there are a number of key skills that will help you to become a great coach.
