Maritime Modelers is proud to announce this month s selection for Boat of the month. This month s honor goes to our new member Agnelo. Agnelo first brought this boat to the lake on the 8 th of last month. It was a pleasure to see this craft going through it s paces. The figure on the board actually shifts his weight to keep the board upright.

MARITIME MODELERS MAY 2012 BOAT OF THE MONTH CONTINUED Pictured on the left we see yet another image of the many moves that Agnelo s radio controlled surfboard can do. Either Agnelo can control this model extremely well. Or the surfer can really hang ten. Again, we would like to congratulate our new member Agnelo on this award. And we would like to welcome him to our family. Once again, congrats Agnelo! A MESSAGE FROM THE BRIDGE To our members that won awards at the regatta, congrats. To those that didn t maybe at the next regatta. Anyway you are still winners in our book. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE Ahoy Matey s Well, it s over, and by that, I mean our club elections. I would like to personally thank all of our candidates, for stepping up and volunteering to help out on the board. It s been a really fun month, with not only our meetings, but by also attending the regatta that was put on by The Inland Nautical Society. As always, I.N.S. out did themselves, and put on one killer event.

As mentioned earlier in this message, our elections are over, and the votes have been counted. The results will be posted in the Election Results, section of this month s newsletter. My thanks go out to, Armando Leriget, Gene Sauter, Ron De Simone, for steeping up to volunteer, and for those who wished to run again for their respective offices. Some of you have telephoned me, regarding that you are no longer receiving your newsletter in the mail, I will be contacting you in the next few days, and informing you that the newsletter is available on the web site, and as I have asked in previous issues, I will put all issues on the newsletters that you have not received in the mail. Another issue that I would like to notify you of, is that several years ago, I held the office of Regional President for a worldwide non-profit organization. In the newsletter that I also published for that organization, we had monthly meeting, where business was conducted, and issues voted upon. We also had a monthly Treasury Report, that was printed in the newsletter, as well as a report given at the meetings. I would like to see a monthly Treasury Report published in our newsletter. If anyone should have an opinion as to this report being published me do so. One last thing before I let you go. Again, we will be holding our annual BBQ NBOATIN at Cerritos Regional Park on Sunday June 24 th 2012. The BBQ will be held immediately after the meeting. Please park you vehicles in the parking at the 195 th Street entrance. It s a lot closer to the BBQ area, and also where we will be playing with our boats. For more information, you may check out the flyer in this issue, or telephone me at (562) 547-1488 or e-mail me at robertt92801@aol.com. Until next month..respectfully Yours.. Maritime Modelers Monthly Treasury Report For May 2012 COMING NEXT MONTH THE DRY-DOCK THE SAN FRANCISCO BARGE PROJECT BY CAPTAIN BOB TISCARENO (PROJECT UPDATE) Last month there were several pictures of this project, in fact, I think there might have been too many, but that s o.k., it gives you more to read.

The project is more than 90% completed, and God willing it will be completed by our first meeting this month, but if not, definitely by the regatta held by Inland Nautical Society. THE DRY-DOCK THE SAN FRANCISCO BARGE PROJECT BY CAPTAIN BOB TISCARENO (PROJECT UPDATE CONTINUED FROM ABOVE) I haven t had much time to really do any further work on the San Francisco Barge. I promise that I will do my best to complete this project. I don t think anyone wants this boat finished more than I do. I have several other projects that will be shown in this section of future issues of the newsletters. Frank Milowicki, has sent me several really nice digital images, and a story to go along with them. Franks project will be published next month. Please submit to me your photos, and details of some of your projects that you re working on. I m interested in seeing them, and I m sure that everyone else would enjoy seeing, and hearing about your projects in progress. MARITIME MODELERS DVD S ARE YES! STILL AVAILABLE FOR ONLY $15! There are only seven of these professionally made DVD S left. I ordered twenty of them and Frank Milowicki and myself (Bob) have sold thirteen of them so far. I needed to pay for these in advance. As it says these are available for $15 each. It cost me $160.00 to order these, so in order for me to recoup my money, I must sell eleven of them. All other sales after that, all of the money collected after the eleven will go to the club s treasury. That should be approximately $135.00 Please see (Bob Tiscareno) at the meeting s to get your copy of this DVD, and help support your club. We appreciate your support. VISIT OUR CLUBS WEB-SITE! (WWW.MARITIMEMODELERS.COM) THE BIG I IS COMING TO SAN PEDRO U.S.S. IOWA BB-61 By: Bob Tiscareno (UPDATE) CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE

As promised, I said that I will keep you abreast of the upcoming journey of the battleship Missouri BB-61. I again checked out the web-site, www.pacificbattleship.com, and the Missouri is scheduled to depart northern California on May 2 nd, and will arrive in about five days. It will not be under it s own power, but will be towed the entire distance. I plan to stay at a hotel the night before it s arrival, and will hopefully be in my boat in the harbor for some really great shots. God, and the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, and the Fire Department willing. There is a need for volunteers to help get the ship ready for the opening to the public, i.e. painting, and so on. If you are interested in helping out, please visit the web-site for more information. MARITIME MODELERS APRIL 2012 DIGITAL IMAGES Pictured Above Left and Center; it was a rare site when a Russian Typhoon Class Submarine was seen in the waters of Lake Cerritos. It seemed to be targeting some of our boats. This submarine was really large in size. It was a whole 7 long. You heard me right! Pictured Above Right; is Larry Tate s Sea Doo making an appearance at our meeting on April 8 th. The last time it was seen at the lake, it was performing rescue duty on one of Larry Tate s airplanes that had to make an emergency crash landing again! Pictured Above Left; is a picture that I intentionally made blurry of Larry Tate s Sea-Doo, making a high speed pass. Pictured Above Center; is Bob Tiscareno s new fishing boat The Majestic. Bob had to search the whole country for this boat, and finally found one in Orlando Florida. Pictured Above Right; is a picture of The Majestic, after a day of fishing. Looks like we ll be having shark for dinner! APRIL DIGITAL IMAGES CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE

Pictured Above Right; Larry Tate answered the call. Pictured Above Left; is Agnelo s speed boat making a pass. This boat use to be nitro powered, but has since then been converted to electric. It runs really good! Pictured Above Center; Armando tried to figure out how to get his stuck hands out fro under the hood. Pictured Above Right; Armando has freed his hands, and was able to cruise the high seas of Lake Cerritos. Pictured Above Left; Larry Tate puts his Cabin Cruiser in the water. Pictured Above Center; is Larry Tate s Cabin Cruiser mugging the camera. Nice shot! Pictured Above Right; I couldn t exactly figure out what Gayle Kiewiet was doing. It looks like she is either trying to do the Chicken Dance faster, as husband Bob looks on with great pleasure? I couldn t resist. sorry Gayle! APRIL DIGITAL IMAGES CONTONIED ON NEXT PAGE.

INLAND NAUTICAL SOCIETY SPRING 2012 REGATTA DIGITAL IMAGES & REVIEW By Captain Bob Tiscareno Well, they did it again! The Inland Nautical Society has put on yet another of their great regatta s. Many of our members won awards for their vessels, and or their navigation skills on the course. On behalf of myself and our members, I would like to thank I.N.S. for another job well done. I m sure that I speak for everyone, when I say that we are all looking forward to the August Regatta. Below is a list of our members who won awards of various types. I was unsuccessful in contacting Ron De Simone to find out what award he had won. Congratulations to all! CAPTIONS FOR PREVIOUS PAGE BELOW Pictured Previous Page Left; is the Inland Nautical Societies flag flying high and proud. Pictured Previous Page Canter; is a quarter view of I assume is one od I.N.S s members gigantic aircraft carrier. I do mean gigamtic. This thing must have been seven feet long. Pictured Previous Page Right; is the same carrier, but the view is that of which an incoming pilot would see. If you look hard toward the bow of the ship, you can see an F-14 Tomcat after a successful number two wire trap landing. Ce Pictured Above Left; is just a small sample of some of the boats that Bob Tiscareno had on display, They are closest to the camera to furthest, the Karl, the Connie Sue, the Majestic, the Lobmaster, and finally the Oranje 1. Pictured Above Center, is Bob Tiscareno s Coast Guard vessel that won 2 nd place military. Pictured Above Right; is Bob Tiscareno s Oranje 1, which took 1 st place work boat. b Pictured Above Left; is Bob Tiscareno s Lobmaster fishing boat that took 2 nd place for navigation under 24. Pictured Above Center; is Gene Sauter and his son Bobby. Gene and Bobby Sitting by a tree, -------. Just kidding, Bobby brought a very unique boat to the regatta, it is Pictured Above Right; and is definitely not a boat for dog lovers. It has dogs suspended from meat hooks, cut in half, some are being BBQ d and others, you don t want to know what is being done. Bobby s motto is Cats Rule! Next to the catastrophe is one of Gene Sauter many boats. Gene won one or two awards for navigation.

CAPTIONS CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE Pictured Previous Page Left; are just a small sample of the cheering squad for the many in attendance. Pictured Previous Center; as always there are several boats that outshine others, by the builder s attention to detail. This boat was just one of many. It is named Mary Jean. Pictured Previous Page Right; is Maritime Modelers members Charlie Brown s collection of push barges. Charlie also won several awards for navigation. Pictured Above Left; is former Executive Officer Jim Shultz striking his CSI Pose for the camera. Pictured Above Center; Jim s Pirate Raft finally won a very well deserved plaque for 2 nd place pleasure boat. It was long overdue. Pictured Above Right; Jim has added a second crew member, and also added some fire power with the addition of a small cannon on the bow, with the second mate pointing out the direction of fire. Pictured Above Left; is another of Jim Shultz s boats after he had completed a weathering job on it. Pictured Above Center; is another of the many hand-crafted boats that were on display. This particular boat had outstanding attention to the wood work all over the vessel. Pictured Above Right; is a visitor that decided to poop by, in the hopes of catching a stray worm off someone s hook. Pictured Above Left; there were also some very impressive sail-boats at this event including this monster. There will be other digital images of sail-boats as you flip through the pages of the issue of the newsletter.

Pictured Previous Page Center; is this very unique, and beautiful paddle-wheel vessel. If you were lucky enough to glance inside of this vessel, you would have seen an interior that Martha Stewart, would have died to claim credit for the decorating ideas. Pictured Previous Page Right; are a few more highly crafted models strutting their stuff. I m glad that I brought a big enough memory card. I would have hated to miss any of them. Pictured Above Left; Franks Milowici s mother works hard on her needed point, while Frank has the strangest look of surprise on his face. Pictured Above Center; one of our members tries to bring all the comforts of home. Pictured Above Right; I.N.S. staff signs everyone in, and sell raffle, and lunch tickets. Pictured Above Left; is yet another example of fine boat craftsmanship. Pictured Above Center; Charlie Brown tends to a disabled speed boat, by pushing him back to the dock. Pictured Above Right; is one nice looking, and simple Norwegian Harbor Patrol Boat. Pictured Left; is Maritime Modelers member and new Treasurer Ron De Simone striking a GQ pose with one of his many boats. Pictured Immediate Left; is what has to be the cutest picture that I ve ever took. This young tike was fortunate enough to win one of the many raffle prizes that were to be won.
