GREEN DRAGON BOWMEN 15 th April 2014 The Station, Knebworth Attendance Denise Carpenter, Mark Carpenter, Derek Ingle, John Bacon, Diane Bacon, Ian Freeman, Nina Freeman, Gary Bellamy, Jayne Bellamy, Carl Joslin, Catherine Williams, Ian Larke, Jo Sheppard, Tony Verboom, Tina Hanslow, Susan Hook, Paul Hook, Luke Clampitt. Apologies None received. Chairman s Report Good evening everybody to this deferred meeting. Secretary s Report Our apologies for having to shift the meeting to tonight. From the last meeting, we must review Ken Wright s application for associate membership. Having watched over him at coaching several times now, whilst he needs constant reminders about his postures etc, he is basically safe. I do still feel that he should continue to shoot with supervision and so suggest that he continue to come along to coaching and shoot no further than 20yds. (He can t put a boss up on his own anyway.) He has bought a compound bow and I feel that we should restrict him to recurve. Committee agree. We have received a further application for associate membership from Anna Scura, formerly of City of Cambridge Bowmen. No objections I have received the new Public Liability Insurance certificate and will arrange for it to be displayed in the hut as per requirements. Coaching. Outdoor coaching will begin again on Tuesday 29 th April 2014. It is with much regret that Gaynor will not be taking any further part in the club. With regard to coaching I can now confirm that neither Gaynor nor Dave will be taking any further part in the coaching or club. Jo can you please confirm with Dave whether or not he is still attending the Windsor and if he is still supplying the faces, ASAP please. Can you also ask whether or not he will be attending the 500 wherever it is? Further to Indoor shooting. The council and management of Odyssey were due to have a meeting at the beginning of April. I have been asked to contact Ian, one of the managers around the middle of April when he hopes to have further information for us. Everything is now in place for the have-a-go in the park this weekend. All those helping out on Sunday will meet at the huts at 9.30am to take the kit over and set-up ready for the park opening at 11.00am. We can leave it up overnight, so long as we take any ropes down and so I have said we should meet at 10.00am on the Monday, as we don t have to put everything up. Mark and I will be available where possible. Carl has kindly offered to pick anything up from our house that should be needed if we cannot attend.
I have contacted the parish centre regarding the booking for the AGM but haven t heard back from them yet. I am hoping for something in the week beginning the 26 th May. If that is not possible, I will book school. I was approached by Peter Devlin about coaching. He is now receiving some coaching from a friend who has said that for a small fee he would be prepared to come along once a month to do some performance coaching to a small group..as you know I am not qualified to do that. I did ask Peter to put the details into an e-mail for this evening but as yet I have not received it. How would you as a committee feel about an external coach coming in? Personally I have no comments at this time other than any costs incurred should be met by the archers attending and not the club. Committee agreed that any costs to be met by archers taking part. Buildings Officer Club hut has not completely dried out. County Representative I attended the HAA meeting on 31st March, thanks to lifts from Phil Lambert to
St Albans and David Osmond for getting home again. The following points were noted at the meeting: 1. County Championships are to be held on 6th July at Princess Helena College and are being organised by Aim4Sport archery club. The entry form needs to be amended and there was some doubt as to whether it will be record status because the application for this was not submitted in time. PHC is an expensive venue at 800 per day. The Beds vs Herts match will take place at the same time. 2. Those who wish to shoot for the County are remind to submit their declaration forms. 3. Hertford Company of Archers are organising the County Western. It will be held in Bishop s Stortford, either at Stortford Archery s ground or a new venue. The date for this event is 7th September. It clashes with the SCAS Inter-Counties match but shouldn t be a problem as the competitions are aimed at different levels. 4. The Indoor Team Championships are being organised by Stortford Archery venue to be advised. 5. An organiser is needed for the County Indoor Championships which usually take place in February each year. 6. At the Herts vs Middx match there were wins for the Compound, Longbow and Junior teams. The Recurve team were 2nd by just 22 points. 7. Medals for last year s summer league are still to be given out. 8. The draw this summer s league matches will be done very soon. (Gary confirmed at the GDB meeting that he had received email from Tracey Jackson and dates were discussed). 9. Three commercial organisations within Hertfordshire are applying for Archery GB membership and may wish to be affiliated to Hertfordshire. 10. The next meeting is to be held on Monday 19th May.
