JUNE 2013 JUNE IS GOING TO BE A BUSY MONTH FOR COWTOWN BOWMEN Cowtown has a very busy month ahead of us so please make sure to make your calendars for some very special events and come out for some awesome archery. June 9 th, 2013 Cowtown Bowmen Club Shoot #4 Final club shoot to qualify for club championship. June 23 rd, 2013 OrangeOut.org Benefit shoot This shoot is a benefit shoot with 100% proceeds going to OrangeOut.org, which is a local foundation that helps families effected by childhood cancer. Please come out for this event and show your support. See event flyer below for more details. June 29 th -30 th, 2013 Recurve State Championship shoot at Cowtown This is our second annual trad shoot and is sure to be as phenomenal as past events. See event flyer below for more details.

COWTOWN BOWMEN VOLUNTEERS HIT HOMERUN WITH TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPT @ MAYFEST 2013 This Year we called on our faithful Cowtown Bowmen members to help out once again with TPWD archery booth at the Mayfest festivities in Ft Worth, and once again our awesome members hit it out of the park. Over the four day event, TPWD showed that they had over 3000 kids [and some adults] come thru the booth and experience archery. We had both 3D archery set up as well as TPWD s foam disc launcher shooting rolling ground targets. It was a blast and so rewarding to see the looks on all of the kids faces when they kit the target they were aiming at. Huge congrats to all of those that helped out, Joe Crawford for coordinating the volunteer scheduling, and Texas Parks and Wildlife for inviting us to be a part of such a wonderful event.

COWTOWN CLUB SHOOT #3 RESULTS Well it was a warm and muggy one Saturday but we had 50 archers come out to shoot our third club shoot. Thank you to all that came out and shot with us. Also thank you to all of the volunteers who busted their humps setting up, running and tearing down this shoot. Congrats to our Winners for Each Class: OPEN - Todd Pool HUNTER - Gene Bohannon BOW NOVICE - Ryder Jamarillo WOMENS - Tanya Bohannon TRAD - Cliff Hauser 17-13 YOUTH - Hunter Sikes 12-UNDER YOUTH - Kollin Mooney

HUGE THANK YOU TO BIG BILLY OUTDOORS FOR FREE RADIO ADVERTISING OF ORANGEOUT.ORG BENEFIT SHOOT And thank you to our very own Geoff Klein for pursuing this and making it happen. Job well done buddy. IMPORVEMENTS COMING TO THE COWTOWN BOWMEN RANGE The board is in final preparations of finalizing the building of a Field Archery range at our facility. We have confirmed that we have the room, and have found what appears to be the best solution for back stops. We are very much looking forward to adding this improvement to the club as it will benefit the club tremendously as well as draw more archers to our membership. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact a board member, or come to our next club meeting. TICK CONTROL We are going to be trying some Tick Control measures at our next few events to see if we can make a dent in the war of Humans vs. Ticks. If you were at the Shoot #3, you are well aware that this war is going to be lofty goal, but we are going to try to all we can, within reason to make it better for all of our members and shoots. We will be spraying the walking path and the lanes a prior to the next shoot.

COWTOWN BOWMEN IN THE COMMUNITY Well so far this year, the Cowtown Bowmen Archery Club membership should hold their head s very high, as thru today we currently have over 1400 hours of community service logged and an outreach of over 5000 people!!! That is absolutely amazing!!! Y all should be very proud of our club and our support and drive continues to grow. I personally want ot thank each and every one of you that sacrifice your time and energy to help out with these events, wether it be setting up a Club Shoot, or helping out with Texas Parks and Wildlife at Mayfest or the Stock Show. Keep doing such a great job spreading our love of this great sport. Also keep an eye out for more awesome opportunities to volunteer. Last I heard, TPWD will be doing another event at this year s State Fair in Dallas, and they will surely be looking to us to step up and help out. COWTOWN BOWMEN CLUB Q & A Email Questions to cowtowncowpatty@live.com This is a new section of our newsletter that we will use to answer frequent questions regarding the club, meeting, funding for projects, volunteer opportunities, and range and facility rules. Please email all questions that you would like published to the above newsletter email account and we will do our best to get them in our next monthly newsletter. QUESTION: I see that the club is hosting a benefit shoot in June, what is this? Is it a club shoot? What is it for? ANSWER: Cowtown Bowmen tries to host a benefit shoot once a year, for a local charitable foundation, that benefits our local community. This is to further promote our club as an organization dedicated to our mission and outreach programs. The foundation must bring a proposal to the board, at which time the board will consider. This benefit shoot this year is for OrangeOut.org, a local foundation that helps families affected by childhood cancer. The club will be donating 100% of the proceeds from this shoot, as well as any target depreciation and volunteer labor to set up and run the event. The format will be much like a club shoot but will not apply to club championship standings. See attached flyer for more details.
