Message from our Principal Edition 6 November 6 th, 2015 It s a special time of year at BES as we recognize the contributions and sacrifice of the many local veteran s who have or are currently serving in active duty. We consider it a privilege to not only recognize and honor this service, but to teach and model for our students the importance of service, sacrifice, and honor for country. Our annual Veterans Day assembly is set for November 11th; invitations with RSVP forms were sent home with students in late October. If you do not have a form please call our office to provide your information. Sign-in begins at 8:45am with the assembly starting at 9:15am. Donuts and coffee will be available for our guests. Mr. Doug Savage We will continue to collect items for troop boxes (to be sent to deployed servicemen & women) through the week of November 16th. Items may be sent to school with students; information sheets are available in our office, but any food items of a non-perishable nature that will fit in a 8.5 X 11 inch box are needed. Thanks for all of the support to date! Our new building continues to progress rapidly, with about 30% now under roof and much of the exterior brick applied. It is on track to be dried-in by the end of December with the opening in August 2016! September Character Trait is... Cooperation Congratulations to our Students! District News Board of Education Race Five candidates ran for two open seats in the Milford Board of Education race. The Clermont Board of Election results show that George Lucas and Debbie Marques received the most votes. Mr. Lucas and Mrs. Marques will begin their four-year terms in January of 2016. PTO Meeting Tuesday, November 11 th 7:00 pm Calling All Veterans Milford School District will continue its tradition of honoring veterans at its November Board of Education meeting. The Board will award high school diplomas to veterans who did not earn a diploma because their education was interrupted to serve their country in times of war. If you are a veteran or know of a veteran, who did not earn his or her diploma because of being in the armed service, please contact the Milford Board of Education Office at (513) 831-1314 by Friday, November 13. In addition to presenting diplomas, all area veterans are invited to come to the November Board meeting and they will be recognized for their service at the beginning of the meeting. If they choose to, veterans are welcome to come in uniform. There will be a short program with patriotic music and a presentation of certificates. The Board meets on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Meadowview Elementary, at 7 p.m. Veterans who will be attending for the recognition are encouraged to RSVP to Terry Kruszynski via email at kruszynski_t@milfordschools.org or by calling (513) 831-1314. Milford Students Help Organize Veteran s Community Run/Celebration Milford High School's DECA students are working with the Miami Township Recreation Department to coordinate the Remembrance at the Meadows memorial event on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Remembrance at the Meadows is a community event that will be held at the Miami Meadows - Spirit of 76 Memorial Park, offering something for everyone. There will be a 5K walk/run, a patriotic art show, music, food, a veteran's ceremony, and family activities. Go to the flyers section of the website (www.milfordschools.org) for details. The art room needs your help!
