A unique venue AT&T PARK The iconic AT&T Park is home to the three-time world champions, the San Francisco Giants, one of Major League Baseball s most historic franchises. It is one of the most spectacular and highly-rated sports venues in the USA and is uniquely located in downtown San Francisco, along the waterfront overlooking the San Francisco Bay. OBSERVER PROGRAMME Format The RWC Sevens 2018 Observer Programme has been developed to ensure participants gain a detailed understanding of the delivery of a major sports event. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive insight into the planning and delivery of this unique event. The programme will comprise of four sessions, each with a different focus; Growth and unique value of rugby sevens, RWC Sevens bidding, Benefits and event planning, Engaging the fans and Delivering the ultimate stage for sevens. Objectives To provide participants with: An overview of World Rugby s strategy for the growth rugby sevens Insight into the increasing commercial value of rugby sevens Key information on the RWC Sevens bidding process and event planning and delivery including interaction with key stakeholders Exclusive access to observe live venue operations Networking opportunities Participants The programme would benefit: Potential future hosts of RWC Sevens, Sevens Series or other sevens events Event owners and hosts International Federations Commercial entities Other event professionals Timing 18-20 July, 2018 Cost The cost for the two-day programme is $1,000 which includes the programme, lunches, a reception, the welcome ceremony, dinner and a match day ticket. Flights, accommodation and ground transport are not included. 8

The content is outlined below and will be delivered through a series of presentations, panel sessions and workshops. Breaks and lunches will be provided to provide networking opportunities. WEDNESDAY JULY 18 MORNING SESSION: THE GROWTH OF RUGBY SEVENS Rugby sevens is a dynamic, high energy, diverse sport which is a central element of World Rugby s vision to grow the global game. This session will focus on World Rugby s strategy for rugby sevens, including the inclusion in the Olympic Games and the commercial growth of the sport. WEDNESDAY JULY 18 AFTERNOON SESSION: BIDDING, BENEFITS AND EVENT PLANNING The session will open with a panel discussion on the important aspects of the bidding process for RWC Sevens. We will then hear from key stakeholders such as USA Rugby on the impact of hosting on the game, followed by sessions on the planning process by the functional area managers. 9

THURSDAY JULY 19 MORNING SESSION: ENGAGING THE FANS Fan engagement is a crucial part of any major event but particularly rugby sevens where entertainment is a key theme. These sessions will focus on engaging fans to purchase tickets through to providing state-of-the-art in-venue entertainment. THURSDAY JULY 19 AFTERNOON SESSION: DELIVERING THE ULIMATE STAGE FOR SEVENS AT&T Park is an iconic baseball stadium perched on the edge of San Francisco Bay, which will undergo a significant transformation to host RWC Sevens. Participants will be taken behind the scenes to look at key areas that were adapted to provide a world-class stage for rugby sevens. 10

FRIDAY JULY 20 MATCH DAY As part of the programme, participants will be provided with a ticket to attend the event on Friday. The details for each session will be sent prior to the programme start date. 11
