Format and Seeding Rules The tournament will consist on 2-3 pool play games (depending on Tournament) from which seeding will be determined for a single elimination bracket play on Sunday or Monday. In the event of a Saturday rain out or partial rainout, then it will be at the tournament director s discretion to seed teams for Sunday based on their registration date and payment date for that specific tournament. Seeding will be based on: 1. Record 2. Head-to-head record 3. Runs allowed 4. Runs scored 5. Least number of runs allowed in one game 6. Coin toss In all rounds of pool play & games, no new inning will begin after 1 Hour 40 minutes. EXCEPT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. An inning is considered complete when the final out is recorded. The Championship games will not have a time limit. Teams will need to be flexible. I we have open fields, we may move games to open fields if one field is running behind. Warm-ups and Batting cages The schedule is very tight and there is very little time between games. Please be prepared to start at the designated start time. There are batting cages located by Field #2. We ask that teams work to resolve any scheduling issues and limit their time in the cage to 20 Minutes maximum. The Batting cages are divided into halves so 2 teams should be able to warm up at a time. NO batting practice or infield use in pre-game is permitted prior to the games as our field prep crews work to prepare the fields for the next game. Do not use vacant fields for warm ups Rules and Format If not specified herein, all games will follow MABA division and league rules. To download a copy of these rules, go to MABA website at www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=maba and click on the Handouts tab. We have also provided a copy on our tournament website as a convenience. Keep in mind that the most up to date version of the rules shown on the MABA web site will overrule everything if there are any discrepancies. General: All teams are required to carry with them a copy of their official roster, a copy of each player s birth certificate, and a copy of their insurance. In the event of a player s age challenge play will halt and the manager of that player must present proof of age to the umpire. A player s age is determined by MABA rules for the 2017 season. If a player if found to be ineligible the player will be removed from the tournament and the team would forfeit all games that the ineligible player played in. In the event of an age challenge, the tournament director will be notified immediately. If a coach/manager questions the eligibility of a player or players, he may do so privately with the tournament site director (or designee). He/she will investigate and resolve eligibility questions as quickly as possible. Player eligibility protests must be addressed during the game or immediately (within 15 minutes) following the game. Rosters: Rosters will be limited to 13 players for 8u thru 12u. 15 players for. Teams will be allowed to have up to 1 player maximum on their roster that are up to 1 year older.

Lineups: All teams have the option of the following lineups: Teams may bat 9 or 10 (with EH) batters or teams may bat the entire roster. In this case if a player is unable to bat for any reason other than injury sustained during the game, an out is declared for that player each time he is unable to take his turn at bat. Each team must announce their options when exchanging line ups with the other team and at the pregame conference with the umpire. Reentry Rule: When batting 9 or 10, a starter may be removed from the lineup once during the game and reentered. A sub cannot be reentered; when a starter is reentered, he must reenter in the same spot in the batting lineup. This rule does not apply to teams that bat their entire lineup as they have unlimited defensive substitutions. Home/Visitor: Home team will be determined by coin flip for all seeding games where the umpire will determine which team has traveled the furthest and they will get to call the coin flip. Whichever team wins the coin flip will be able to choose to be Home or Away. Higher seeds will have choice for seed play games and championship games. Intentional time delays: The umpire and tournament director reserve the right to eject any player, coach or fan for intentionally delaying a game and a forfeit may be enforced at the tournament director s discretion. Umpires will be told to only allow 8 Pitches for New pitchers and 5 Pitches for returning pitchers to get warm between innings. Coaches are asked to use courtesy runners for Pitchers/Catchers with any number of outs to keep the time between innings to a minimum. Any courtesy runners must be either a player that is not in the lineup if the team is not batting their entire lineup. If a team is batting their entire lineup, then the courtesy runner must be the last out. Protests: No protests on any judgment calls! Judgment calls are final. A coach may politely ask the umpire who made the call to clarify a rules interpretation. The umpires on the field will make a final decision on the field. The tournament director can clarify rules but the final decision will rest with the umpire. All protests will require a $100 fee (Cash only) If any protest is won, then the $100 will be returned to the protesting teams manager. Scorebooks: The home team will be the official scorebook. The visiting team is encouraged to maintain a scorebook. Both teams are responsible for signing the Score Sheet which the Game Marshall (when present) will provide at the end of the game. If there is a game marshal for your game, then he/she will turn in your score card. If there is no game marshal, then it is the responsibility of the winning team to report the score to the Directors table or concession stand for recording to the main website. Please have someone return the filled-out card within 30 minutes of the conclusion. Mercy Rule: All age groups: 15 runs after 3 Innings (2 ½ if the Home team is ahead); 10 Runs after 4 innings (3 ½ if home team is ahead) Pitching Restrictions: All pitching limits imposed are established to protect the players from overuse arm injuries as well as to make the teams more competitive. All limits are per game limits. There are no per day or tournament maximum limits imposed, but coaches should use good judgment in determining who can pitch in each game. One pitch constitutes an inning pitched. Once a pitcher is removed from the mound they may not return to pitch in the same game.

Pitching Restrictions Cont.: In 11U, each pitcher is allowed 1 balk warning per game. At 9u & 10u there will only be warnings for the pitcher. The pitch will be called a dead ball. No balks or warning for 8u. Age Max Innings allowed Per Game 8u/9u 2 10u/ 3 4 A manager/coach may make one (1) official visits to the mound per inning or two (2) per game for each individual pitcher without making a pitching change. After three visits, have been exhausted for one pitcher, pitchers must be removed. If a pitcher exceeds these inning restrictions and either the umpire or the other team manager challenges this rule, then the offending teams Manager must remove the pitcher immediately with no penalty. If it happens two times to the same team during the same tournament, then the offending manager/head coach will be ejected from participating in the remainder of the tournament. Collision Rule: All runners must slide or otherwise attempt to avoid a fielder who has possession of (or about to receive) the ball and is waiting to make a tag. If the runner fails to do so and a collision occurs the runner is out, the ball is dead and trailing runners may not advance. If in the judgment of the umpire the collision is intentional or flagrant, the offending player will be ejected from the game. If a runner does not slide and there is no collision and the umpire rules the runner safe, the runner is safe. However, a base runner may not leave his feet and hurdle or dive over a defensive player (unless the defensive player is lying down on the ground in which case the play is legal). Courtesy Runners: A courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher of record is allowed at any time. The runner must be a player not in the game or the last out. When using this provision, please make sure the replacement runner is ready to assume their position before interrupting play. Ejections: Coaches and fans ejected from a game must exit the park immediately and not return for the rest of the tournament. Players may stay with their respective teams in the bleacher area (not bench) but may not participate in the rest of the game plus the next game. In the event this rule is not followed; the associate team will forfeit the rest of the tournament. Start of Game: All teams are expected to be at the fields ready to play ½ hour before game time. Please be prepared to start games early if the field and umpire are ready to play. Teams may start the game with 8 players, but an out will be taken in the 9th spot. Players arriving late may be added to the bottom of the lineup, but only if that team has not batted all the way through their lineup yet. Age determination: The cutoff date for determining player ages is May 1st of the given season. For example, a player on a full-time, 12-year-old team may not turn 13 prior to May 1 st of the season. All Fall Tournaments designated by a starting date after August 31 st will play the new age brackets for the next season. Meaning you must move up in age - if you played 11U in the spring and summer, you will now be playing 12U for this tournament and the rest of the fall season. Teams will be allowed to have up to 1 player maximum on their roster that are up to 1 year older.
