3. BOWLS ETIQUETTE 1. Be conversant with the laws of the Sport of Bowls and observe them. 2. Be punctual to commence play at all matches, and come to each game correctly attired. 3. Keep quiet and refrain from moving when players are on the mat. 4. Stand behind the mat while your opponent bowls. 5. Always stand still at the head when a player is about to bowl, movement at the head or talking at the mat end is very distracting. 6. Walk close to the centre of the rink with minimum delay when changing ends, as you could distract play on the next rink. 7. Do not delay play. Always play your bowl with minimum delay. 8. Never deliver your bowl before the previous bowl has come to rest. 9. Keep track of play. Be ready to play when it is your turn. 10. Every player should assist in collecting bowls when the head is completed. 11. Always pay your skip the respect of waiting for their decision. Do not step onto the mat and indicate which way you intend playing. Wait for the skip s instructions. 12. Never applaud lucky bowls accept them graciously. 13. Never complain about lucky bowls they equal each other out in the long run. 14. Respect the green at all times. Do not run or drop bowls on the green. 15. Always inform your opponent if you wish to leave the green. 16. If you lose, be a good loser. 17. Win or lose, always shake hands with your opponent and thank them for the game. 18. Offer your opponent or opposite number a drink after the game. Above all, enjoy the game and the friendships it provides.

4. GENERAL CLUB INFORMATION Bar Duties Because we are a member s club and enjoy the convenience of our own bar, we do rely on our own members to carry out bar duties, which we operate on a rota system. We have a monthly calendar displayed on the notice board highlighting when bar staff are required, but as we have plenty of willing helpers, you will only be called on to do a shift about once every two months. Naturally full training and help is given, so there s no need to panic! If you want further information, please contact a member of the Bar Management team Club Committee In common with most Members Clubs - and in compliance with the Club s membership of the FEB and FAB (Spanish Bowls Federations) - we have an elected Committee to oversee the running of the Club. The Committee will normally convene on the last Thursday of each month and Club Members will be invited to submit items for the agenda TWO weeks before this. Minutes of each meeting will be circulated by email to all Club Members with a hard copy filed in the Committee folder in the Clubhouse. Most Committee posts have a two year term, with half of the Committee elected each year to ensure continuity. There is no limit to how many times any one Member can stand for election and it is possible for a single member to hold more than one Committee post. The positions of Club Captain and Vice-Captain are elected annually. There is no limit to how many times a Member can stand for election. There is no automatic progression from Vice Captain to Club Captain. Both of these positions are also Committee posts. Elected positions are: Club Chairman, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer, Club Competition Secretary and Club Bar Manager. Together with the Club Captain and Vice-Captain this gives a nominal Committee of SEVEN people. In addition, the Club Constitution calls for every Committee meeting to include TWO nonelected members, selected on a rotation basis, who have the right to participate in the meeting but not to vote on decisions. In the event that the Committee be less than seven strong (i.e. someone holds more than one post) additional non-elected members will be called to the meeting to ensure the numbers are maintained. All Committee members have ONE vote regardless of how many posts they may hold. The Club Chairman may only vote in the event of a tied vote of the other Committee members. If you want further information about Committee meetings, please contact the Club Secretary.

Club Competitions During the winter season, numerous competitions are held in and around the Costa del Sol. All details of competitions are always posted on the noticeboard. If anyone is interested in taking part in any of these competitions, please feel free they are open to everyone, and a very enjoyable way of meeting members of other clubs. If you want further information about Competitions, please contact the Competition Secretary. Club Keys If you ever wanted to come along on a non-club day, you are more than welcome. All we ask is you clean up after yourselves, and make sure the clubhouse and gate is locked securely when you leave. Keys to the Club House are stored in a small safe near the entrance to the club specific details / access codes etc will be provided upon joining. Keys for the toilets are located on the board in the clubhouse (on the right hand side of the door). Again, if used, can you please ensure you return them to the Club house. Please contact any member of the Committee if you need any further information. Health & Safety First Aiders: We currently have 3 fully qualified first aiders, namely: Peter Meyerhoff - email: peter432m@gmail.com Crystal McCallam - email: chrystalisabel@gmail.com Janet Passingham - email: ron.passingham@gmail.com We plan to run further first aid courses throughout the year, therefore if anyone is interested, please contact Peter Meyerhoff for information. Defibrillator We have a defibrillator at the Club, which is located next to the first aid box in the Club House. This is a very expensive piece of equipment, therefore when not in use it is stored in Locker No.16. The key for which will always be on the far right hand side of the notice board, adjacent to the bookcase. The first person to open the bar is tasked with ensuring the defibrillator is hung up next to the first aid box, and the last person to leave the club is tasked with ensuring it is returned to Locker No.16. It is easy to use, but full training will be given to everyone by Peter Meyerhoff. However, let s hope we never need it. If you need any further information, please contact any member of the Committee.

Housekeeping Because this is a Member s Club, it is everyone s responsibility to keep the club clean and tidy at all times. Although we have various maintenance days during the year, where we have a squad of willing volunteers doing essential repairs, repainting, cleaning, etc, it would be nice if all members occasionally came to the club to tidy/sweep up without waiting for one of these days. All brushes etc are kept round the back of the club house. Also, if anyone stays behind for a drink and you are the last to leave, could we please ask you to leave all areas clean and tidy. If you need any further information, please ask any member of the Committee. League Teams - Tigers / Lions We have two league teams representing Lauro Golf Bowls Club, namely, The Tigers & the Lions. League matches start in October, through to March, and take place every Friday throughout the season. The Costa Del Sol League currently consists of 8 teams: Benalmadena. Benavista. Don Pablo. La Posada. Mijas LBC Miraflores Lauro GBC Santa Maria Members are invited to apply for selection in the Lauro League Teams at the start of the season (usually September/October). The league players are then picked by the Team Selection Committee, consisting of our Captain, Vice-Captain and Chairman. All League players should be aware that if they are not selected to play in any particular game, this in no way has any bearing on their performance or ability.. If you want further information about Lauro League matches / teams, etc, please contact any one of our Team Selectors Team Selectors Paul Hughes Captain email: paulhughes92@btinternet.com Brian Freeman Vice-Captain email: jamesunicornhouse@hotmail.com Ron Jones Chairman email: chairman@laurogolfbowlsclub.com

Because this is a very important way of boosting our funds, we all try help where we can, and usually ask for additional volunteers for bar duties, help with sandwich making, BBQ assistance, and more importantly, people to play!!
