Committee Reports: Fall Clinic Wendall Bean Wendall passed around a sheet for help with introducing our clinicians Spoke on how some clichés have occurred with the Hotel but working things out 407 registered a little up from last year credit card purchases seems to be working double what we have had in the past (around 110 purchases) 22 paid vendors this year lost quite a few originals but Wendall 559 for Banquet and growing Officials 98 registered up a ton New shirts for Executive Committee are in Rental of materials here at Regency is very high Change in Clinician due to unavailable circumstances all is good Would like to have a discussion in the future about our clinic and possible expansion Registration is too cumbersome need to stream line this and use the online more and more
Registration is set for coaches coming in Hall of Fame/Awards Jeff Behrens District Reps received the listing of conference champions Jeff has brought all awards to the clinic and covered officials pictures Presentation at the Hall of Fame Banquet (needing help) Ed, Five inductees for the banquet Public Relations Mel Dow Mel was chosen to take over Congratulations Dave talked about the Nicholas Suites and the State Tournament Good things going on for the coaches live stream of state tournament, continue to build connections. All Sponsorships are to go through Mel helps with the networking of WI Wrestling Shane Sparks spoke on 5 th season with BadgerStateWresttling.com Shane thanked the WWCA for supporting his business great opportunity for Shane personally. Relationship with WIAA and When We Were Young WWF/USA Dave Black Spoke on the school/team group from the WWF. Opportunity for the whole team to become a member of the WWF. Only $300 others would have to buy the card for $35. Stated that the WIAA deferred to the school Principals and Athletic Directors to allow or not for the hs teams. 2 year coaches card that coaches need to purchase must have a background check no matter if you are a educator or not. Many applications for the new head coach for the state (WWF) Wrestling Officials (WIAA) Mike Blasczyk Up to a hundred officials here WIAA approved clinic that is held here 3 sessions during the clinic (some items that will be covered) - including out of bounds - nearfall criteria - mechanics of the match - starting positions and variations - technical violations - ms and youth wrestling with liability - unsportsmanlike and misconduct of coaches This is the 3 rd year of this relationship taking place. Conduct the program with CLASS. It was mentioned that the NCAA has specific rules as to the coaches dress. Mel Dow motioned that we endorse the Dress portion of the Code of Ethics through our tournament this season. Hall of Fame Committee Not able to get new idea(s) going will be looking to improve the selection process will have a plan in place for the May meeting Hall of Fame Display Need to have a new display in some way the one that we have is falling apart Looking into some type of 21 st century format vs. the Relic that we are now using Bob Empey will talk to Justin Tritz for ideas Direction of the WWCA as we head into the 2011-2012 Season Weight classes will be the big item for coaches and the number of wts that we have (14) Use flyers for coaches to help others with getting students to come out for wrestling keep promoting the sport for Wisconsin student-athletes Would like to have a committee to develop this concept Dave McCarthy volunteered Discussion of singlets and how athletes feel about our sport and wearing the singlet is this hindering student from coming out? WIAA has accepted T-shirt and shorts for competition for Middle School teams Bob will meet with Wade (WIAA) about some of the concerns and process for potential change of uniform District Representative connections Keep up with the connections a great informational source Website contract renewal Bob Skubal motioned with Dave Meyer to continue with Justin Tritz for renewal.
